Hi I have the same haircut and I wanted to let you know to try Clairol Hot sticks! I got mine at a free lawn table brand new and they have worked on my hair from a short sharon stone, to a shoulder length meg ryan perm look or marilyn monroe. But right now i use to get the same effect as your 3/4 iron. Done in 5 minutes! Make sure you put the rod near your scalp,then wrap the hair and close. Today I am going to try to section my hair at the top like you. Great advise!I will use a pinky size iron

I'm really impatient with curling irons and I start half-assing as soon as my arm gets tired, and alllll the tutorials for curly hair use irons. Well, first of all, that person is a dick! Heat tools wan make your color come out. It might be the protectant, so it's worth switching it up, but more likely it's just the heat tool.

what kind of dye do you use for your hair? when i use to dye my hair red it would fade so fast and yours seems to me staying pretty well

I have videos about hair dye, but right now I put a temporary dye from special effects (like manic panic but better) over traditionally dyed red hair. to be honest, if it's not SUPER bright, to me it's faded, so, this it faded. ^_^ the color from special effects is "blood red". "devilish" is really good too, and lasts longer.

I just mean using the curling iron the "normal" way - they way they've been used for the past 30 years... LOL

I've always "clamped" my hair with the curling iron & rolled it up. It seems like within the last few years they've decided you cannot do it that way, you must roll it up with your naked fingers & hold it against the barrel... too much work for me.

I just think someone got bored & decided to "invent" a new way to curl hair. I'm not trying to be an asshole, i just find it amusing.

i've read that the ends of your your hair generally need less heat because the ends are usually the most damaged part and will curl the easiest. when you start the curling iron at the middle or at the top you're concentrating heat on the part that needs it most in order to hold longer.

on my hair it also gives a different shape to the curls, the traditional way usually gives me more of a curl at the bottom, and this way curls more throughout :)
