fun fact the dane axes your norse varangian guard is using is the predecessor of the galloglaich sparthe axe

the galloglaich (pronounced gall oglay) are basically scottish highland mercenaries. most scottish galloglaich used two handed swords..the irish galloglaich used axes a lot more often from what ive read....also no kilts at this time..just long tunics..the highland scots didnt use leggings much or pants...and were then called "redshanks"..the border horsemen are scots that live near the border of scotland/england and were good mercenary cavalry

also the galloglaich axe was a scottish interpretation of the dane axe as much of the gaelic culture encountered and mixed with vikings..i.e. the clan macdonald is a "norse" scottish clan

Border Horse are so named because the England-Scotland Border is historically the location for many quick raids such as for cattle so that in the game the theory is that such horsemen would be light armored, fast-moving, and quick. Not saying historically 1100% true, but I think that was the intent.

Border horses are GREAT. Cheap and VERY fast units. They catch just about any HA unit and once you pin down an HA unit you can nail it with any cav. They're also very good at flanking. Give them a weapon upgrade for a decent charge too.

It sounds like you typed in your CD-Key incorrectly when you re-installed the game. You'll have to reinstall the game, and make sure you type in the CD-Key correctly.

they were not roman wannabes, they were direct descendants of the romans, they were basically the Eastern Roman Empire, their capital was named after the first Christian Emperor of Rome, Constantine, hence the name Constantinople.
