@Meta99ica I was just stating my preference, if you asked me who my favorite drummer was in 1982 I would have said Lars, but then after the black album and that St Anger fiasco, (even Lars hated it) and seeing how much energy Lombardo still has, I just have to say while I respect Lars' previous work I still put Lombardo on number 1.

and just so you know, the plan to do the big four was presented to Lars in 1992 (Black album time) and he reject it. things change. slow sales anyone??

Anyway, if I have to choose a favorite drummer from the Big Four I would choose Charlie, I absolutely adore his style :)

I LOVE to watch Dave drum. He makes it look so fucking easy.

His combination of groove, energy and technical precision is jaw-dropping. He rides the line between order and chaos perfectly, while never losing control.

I honestly think that Bostaph has superior technical chops, but his work with Slayer never FELT right. Although his fills were inventive, his back-beats always excessively stiff and regimented.

Dave, in contrast, has that loose, punk energy that makes Slayer "Slayer."

@Ivan4131994 Benate is good but, Dave Lombardo played on Angel of Death, Silent Scream, Dead Skin Mask, Live Undead, Behind the Crooked Cross, Raining Blood, Born of Fire. Some of the hardest songs to play on drums. Benate is great but Lombardo has speed, groove, footwork, handwork, rhythm, plays tight, great timing, all while showing feel and excitement for what he does. Plus, when he improvises live it doesn't take away from the song. It just adds and makes everything sound better.

And you're right he's played on great tracks such as Gung-Ho, Milk, Among the Living, A Skeleton In the Closet, Who Cares Wins, Be All, End All, and more. I just think Lombardo is a bit better. And Lombardo has rhythm as well. There's one thing that's 100% true. Out of all the Big 4 drummers Dave & Charlie are the best.
