I can't believe it!!! I'd love to go to one of her concerts!!! the way she moves her fingers.....just awesome!!! and that entrance after the drums' solo...wow
Hiromi's incredible talent is apparent in all of her performances, but perhaps more so in this one than most others. Some may consider this piece a bit show-offish, but I don't care - I love listening to her play.
Ilove her - i thought : now married , she will somewhat take gas back BUT NO SO, ( UNTILL 05:36 ) I'm a man and play on keyboard - light key pression - And last week I tried some on a Steinway like she has here and I couldn't do it so heavy How does she do that impossible speed - WOW Like YORO2YARO but for Chopin I like so much her A-Syncopic Playing sometimes AND she has the DELAY like Michel Petrucciani fantastic 5******
man i just can't stop playing clips from this concert, xyg, tom and jerry (?)... and now this. crazy hair, pink shirt... everything is perfect besides the music. this is a historic event! i'd buy this dvd (if exists) and watch it whenever i feel suicidal...
hmm maybe I'll just get shot down for saying this but a bit of her playing here reminds me of michel camilo. really great stuff, I like this recording better than the album version.
There is no question about it ! this phenomenal woman is one of the most exceptional musicians to come along in the last 100 years. She has all the bases covered .. she plays the instrument with the same kind of heart and soul of the greatest artists in history. Hiromi Euhara is an original and I feel so lucky to be living in the same era and be privilaged to hear her incredible devotion to the great art of music. I've seen Tatum in my time, now I want to see Hiromi Euhara .. and Hank Jones.
go on the her website and look up the link to concord music group. they have all her stuff plus the 2 DVDs that just came out recently with this performance in it :)
lol that's funny. No but really, I know quite a bit about the [former] Hiromi trio, and I'd be willing to bet anything that the drummer here is Martin Valihora. You can even tell it's him by his drumming style.
You must not know DiCenso's style that well if you mistake it for Valihora's. Heck, you must not know DiCenso well at all if you mistake him for ANOTHER PERSON!
Valihora's website confirms the drummer in the video him because he is listed as playing with Hiromi in this 2004 Yokohama Blitz event.
yep smoking stuff, the night in tunisa quote was cool also. about the 557 akr she goes off but its mostly showmanship i think cuz musically it was not very good. wonderful changes of intesity althought the drum solo could have been left out imo.
Whenever I listen to this music I always imagine her to be some enormous Japanese giant who dwarfs the piano with hands the size of dinner plates. To see this video it just confounds me even more... where does all that energy come from? How does she just bang the shit out of that keyboard for hours at a time?
It's awesome how she just finishes and walks off casually. No one else can attempt that and succeed like Hiromi.
