But I also must emphasize my other opinion about these pictures. A change to me doesnt always mean to make the poor rich directly. A change could be to apply your abilities instead of showing them off. I think that's exactly what Stephen Curtis Chapman was trying to convey. I have a few abilities that I'd like to one day apply to change something for the better such as preventing earthquakes or if I have the ability to make money, then thats when donation occurs.Iwanttobea structural engineer.

Love this song totally shows the problems in church. Some People look too good to be what they are and spread wrong influences. I get that feel around church sometimes. I'm like "these people just look good. They don't really feel motivated to serve anyone but maybe their parents or give into a social pressure." I admit that i'm not really a commited guy to a church, but seriously, like being a christian is really about commitment to the lord and wanting to change the world for the better.

If a person rejects Christ and goes whoring after sodomy, then God will send them to Hell. Because Hell is a place of active torment, you are not going to convince me that God loves those He sends to Hell. God said in 1-Corinthians 6:9-10 that unrepentant homosexuals will not enter Heaven. but i believe that even at the last moment of his life, if a homosexual person turns away from the sins of sodomy he has committed and breaks with that sin and repents and asks forgiveness and says "My Jesus, mercy", God will forgive and save that person, even though it is the last moment of his life. He will become one of those workers who only worked 1 hour but got a whole day's wages. Let's make sure that people understand the door remains open until the last moment of life.

Doesn't scripture teach us that it is not our actions that get us into heaven, but our faith in Christ and our salvation? And aren't all sins equal in God's eyes? Then please explain to me why homosexuals are treated cruelly and are assumed to be automatically condemned to hell. We are all sinners. And something tells me that God would be much happier to see two people of the same sex bringing more love into this world, then the unadulterated hatred that spews from WBC on a daily basis.

Poetic, in it's own right. This vid is truly one that should be shown ti everyone. I've been studying the bible lately. The New Testimate is filled withcompassion and love. It warns against sin, for sure,but it also teaches love. God doesn't hate sinners. He wishes for the sinners to repent themselves. I have a friend that is in a same sex relationship. I don't knowhow to minister to them without alienating them. But I can't just cast them aside either. God wouldn't want me to.

Let me expand on that. Ok, a person who is not saved is God's enemy and He hates His enemies. But the amazing thing is that "while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." God hated us and yet He loved us so much that He allowed us to beat His Son and nail Him to a cross so that we can now be saved. Can i get an "amen"? God loves more than any of us can imagine. I don't want you to think that i am saying that God does not love. We are also called to love those He died for (i.e. everyone).

wow, slow down. before you say something about the Bible and call it true, read it and study it. Ok, to put it bluntly, God DOES hate homosexuality (Rev. 21:8) and murder - that is clearly show all throughout scripture. God absolutely can hate. The Bible says that God hates His enemies (which includes unrepentant humans) but He also loves them a lot. I'm not sure if my other post is going to some up, but this is my second. The Bible says repeatedly that homosexuality is completely abhorred by God (more than just once). And you're right, the Bible does also repeatedly say that we are to love everyone (straight or not), but it never says that we should consider their sin as ok. Look at the city of Sodom for example. It was destroyed because of it's homosexuality. That is not something we should imitate. We must never get calloused to sin.

Be very careful when you quote scripture. There is only one place that I am aware of that uses the word "hate" when referring to how God feels about a particular act: Proverbs 6:16-19. And none of those things are about homosexuality. I don't disagree that it is a sin, but let's be very, very careful about misquoting scripture. That is one of the things that turn people off from Christianity - the use of scripture as a hammer, rather than as Truth.

actually, the word "hate" is used a lot in the Bible (check out my other post). yes, you're absolutely right, beating people over the head with the Bible does turn a lot of people away from it, but don't go so far in the other direction that you misinterpret it to mean a watered down version of the truth.

We all have sinned and have fallen short of the Glory of God. But by GRACE we are saved. Grace being unmerited favor. Which means we didn't deserve it. And there is nothing you can do to deserve it. We should do good to please God, not to earn forgiveness or salvation. Change should be the byproduct, not the method of our salvation by Grace. That's what the song is about.

I don't disagree that God hates homosexuality or atrocities committed by ANYONE. However, I think he hates just as much those who hate the person who commits those acts. We should despise the sin, but love the human, regardless of their sin. That is what Jesus did.

Actually, the "God, change me" comment is by Chapman. If you listen closely - VERY closely - at the end of the song you can hear him say this phrase. Of course, it's what I pray for as well, change in myself. It's only when I have removed my own splinter that I can concern myself with someone else's plank.
