What a boss! This video conveys how i feel! That when people pervert the Gospel and even Jesus himself, you must focus on the only things that matter: loving God and loving people! Then people will see Jesus for who he REALLY IS.
But I also must emphasize my other opinion about these pictures. A change to me doesnt always mean to make the poor rich directly. A change could be to apply your abilities instead of showing them off. I think that's exactly what Stephen Curtis Chapman was trying to convey. I have a few abilities that I'd like to one day apply to change something for the better such as preventing earthquakes or if I have the ability to make money, then thats when donation occurs.Iwanttobea structural engineer.
Love this song totally shows the problems in church. Some People look too good to be what they are and spread wrong influences. I get that feel around church sometimes. I'm like "these people just look good. They don't really feel motivated to serve anyone but maybe their parents or give into a social pressure." I admit that i'm not really a commited guy to a church, but seriously, like being a christian is really about commitment to the lord and wanting to change the world for the better.
Fred Phelps is a heretic and a lunatic. I thank God that when the woman was taken in adultery she was brought to Jesus and not Fred Phelps. Fred Phelps would've said "'Stone the bitchwhore." Pardon the lanquage, but that's the truth.

@crosssxeyed Well thats a great way to look at it, i personally wouldnt want to be Fred and his westbro cult like church imop, very scary but the Love of the Lord is the best way to show that Jesus loves us, and evil will it will be destroyed, my wife of 5 years cheated on me a year ago, she ended another mans Marriage by his choice of 23 years!! i only had step kids with her i was there only dad though the real one left them, i was near death and thought i needed a Change i went back to church
It is taught, Love the person, hate the sin. Fred Phelps doesn't understand that. Nor does his chruch. I love you My Brother (Fred Phelps) But learn to change or God may never let tyou into his pearly gate..
I never post comments, but I just have to on this one. WOW! You totally captured how Christian compassion can look if we drop all the things that divide us. You rock! I am sharing this with the Bible study class I teach tonight!
If a person rejects Christ and goes whoring after sodomy, then God will send them to Hell. Because Hell is a place of active torment, you are not going to convince me that God loves those He sends to Hell. God said in 1-Corinthians 6:9-10 that unrepentant homosexuals will not enter Heaven. You draw your own conclusions from that.
but i believe that even at the last moment of his life, if a homosexual person turns away from the sins of sodomy he has committed and breaks with that sin and repents and asks forgiveness and says "My Jesus, mercy", God will forgive and save that person, even though it is the last moment of his life. He will become one of those workers who only worked 1 hour but got a whole day's wages. Let's make sure that people understand the door remains open until the last moment of life.
ITA, but the problem is that none of us know when that final moment may come, which is why it is so important to turn from sin NOW in case we don't get that "last chance."
Doesn't scripture teach us that it is not our actions that get us into heaven, but our faith in Christ and our salvation? And aren't all sins equal in God's eyes? Then please explain to me why homosexuals are treated cruelly and are assumed to be automatically condemned to hell. We are all sinners. And something tells me that God would be much happier to see two people of the same sex bringing more love into this world, then the unadulterated hatred that spews from WBC on a daily basis.
Poetic, in it's own right. This vid is truly one that should be shown ti everyone. I've been studying the bible lately. The New Testimate is filled withcompassion and love. It warns against sin, for sure, but it also teaches love. God doesn't hate sinners. He wishes for the sinners to repent themselves. I have a friend that is in a same sex relationship. I don't knowhow to minister to them without alienating them. But I can't just cast them aside either. God wouldn't want me to.
I love this video. Thanks for posting it. I'm glad you responded to Westboro. They are wrong and they are spreading poison throughout the land. It gives the rest of us a bad name.
Let me expand on that. Ok, a person who is not saved is God's enemy and He hates His enemies. But the amazing thing is that "while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." God hated us and yet He loved us so much that He allowed us to beat His Son and nail Him to a cross so that we can now be saved. Can i get an "amen"? God loves more than any of us can imagine. I don't want you to think that i am saying that God does not love. We are also called to love those He died for (i.e. everyone).
WOW. i need to clarify. k, i dont agree with what your saying, but i think what you mean is that God "hates" us as much as a loving father can hate his son who has turned away from him. i think that God understands that justice must be served, but it breaks his heart. so he gave us a way out, a lifeline. i think a better way is sorta like when you know someone you love does something stupid, and your just like "Y the hell did u do that?" but you still love the person. you say it bcz you luv them
i apologize for not talking clearly enough (it's hard to do on a computer :) ), but that's not what i was trying to say. only those who have believed in the Christ and turned from their sin (Romans 10:9-10) are His children (sons) and He DOES NOT hate them. those who have not turned to Him are not His sons, but His enemies and He loves them very much as well.
I don't understand what you mean by a "lifeline," can you expand on that so we can both be on the same page? thanks
I'm not trying to be rude or offensive. but i hate it when people say things about God or the Bible that are not true. I'm not making up what i'm saying, everything i just said i got straight from the Bible. God has the ability to love and hate at the same time without contradicting Himself. George Washington was talking about a traitor in the Revolution and said that he loved him as a brother but hated him as a traitor. that's kinda what i'm saying.
wow, slow down. before you say something about the Bible and call it true, read it and study it. Ok, to put it bluntly, God DOES hate homosexuality (Rev. 21:8) and murder - that is clearly show all throughout scripture. God absolutely can hate. The Bible says that God hates His enemies (which includes unrepentant humans) but He also loves them a lot. God is holy, so He must hate all sin. but He's also loving so He will save anyone who turns to Him. He does not hate His children.
hm i think you are putting politics into faith. God may hate homosexuality, but he dosn't hate the people and he dosn't think of them any less than he does strait people. It does say in the bible about one man and one woman yes but it says that once. It says to treat eachother as equals about 20 times in the bible. So why is it that we American christians can't get over homosexuality and when asked why say its un holy?
come on....how do you see homosexuality...what's your reaction when you see 2 girls kissing and 2 guys caressing...do you see it as a normal think? these things are disgusting to God...I don't know exactly where is this mentioned in the Bible but I know I read it once...he made a man and a woMAN to be together...that's how things are, and every other change in the way He made these things is disgusting and horrible. they're good just the way He made them, and that's it.
I'm not sure if my other post is going to some up, but this is my second. The Bible says repeatedly that homosexuality is completely abhorred by God (more than just once). And you're right, the Bible does also repeatedly say that we are to love everyone (straight or not), but it never says that we should consider their sin as ok. Look at the city of Sodom for example. It was destroyed because of it's homosexuality. That is not something we should imitate. We must never get calloused to sin.
Be very careful when you quote scripture. There is only one place that I am aware of that uses the word "hate" when referring to how God feels about a particular act: Proverbs 6:16-19. And none of those things are about homosexuality. I don't disagree that it is a sin, but let's be very, very careful about misquoting scripture. That is one of the things that turn people off from Christianity - the use of scripture as a hammer, rather than as Truth.
actually, the word "hate" is used a lot in the Bible (check out my other post). yes, you're absolutely right, beating people over the head with the Bible does turn a lot of people away from it, but don't go so far in the other direction that you misinterpret it to mean a watered down version of the truth.
I want to make it very clear to everyone reading any of my posts that i am not trying to offend anyone. i want this conversation to stay civil so that we can all (myself as well) learn from it.
Here are a number of other scriptures that talk about God hating sin. Deut 12:31, Deut 16:22, Psalms 5:5, Isaiah 61:8, Jer 44:4, Am 5:21, Zech 8:17, Mal 2:16, Heb 1:9, Rev 2:6,15, Also Mal 1:3 and Rom 9:13 are both interesting.
That's true. Jesus says to love our neighbor as ourselves: give them water when they are thirsty, give help to those who are poor, feed the hungry, don't steal, kill, covet, or lie (Ro 13:8-10)--Christian or not.
HOWEVER! Do not pat any sinner (including me) on the back saying that what they did was o.k. "For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy to all them that call upon You." (Psalm 86:5)
I´m not gay but I see love when I see 2 men kissing or 2 women carasseng... and they are created that way by God Himself. How can you imply that God´s creation isn´t perfect as He created it...? That´s a rhethorical question, you don´t have to answer. There are lots of gays who are followers of Jesus, that´s what He asked for not pharaseeical (?) recitings of the Scriptures. He wants action, and love, not blaming and judgement.... or? Start with the gospels when you read...
But honestly (and i want you to know that i really do not want to offend you in any way or get into an argument) God's truth has nothing to do with what you think or see. He says it's wrong, so it's wrong, no question. God did not create them that way, we, by nature, are born sinful and sin by choice. so, sorry, but i had to answer the rhetorical question :) . i'm not making this up, check out Ephesians 2. again, i don't want to offend you so please don't be offended.
And no one - including you - knows whether God created gay people gay or not. Regardless of whether He did or not, the act is still wrong. It may just be their thorn to deal with. He creates those with special needs, so He could create gay people. But the act is still wrong. You need to stop deciding for us what God thinks and doesn't think and what He creates and doesn't create or I will delete your posts and refuse to allow you to comment further. You may post scripture but don't interpret.
Excellent video!!! Thanks for the info. Instead of criticizing the gays, people need to show them what it's like to be a Christian. It IS possible to lead a homosexual to Christ through example. I've seen it happen over and over again. Being judgemental only scares them away.
...James has a lot of stuff on that, that's another of my favorites. Ephesians 2 is absolutely amazing as well. Romans talks about it a good deal. So in other words, to say that salvation come through anything other than faith alone (sola fide) is completely contradictory to the Bible
Great song. Especially for me, because I used to be one of those Christians - the bumper sticker Christian who looks sincere and great on the outside but on the inside is a sinful wretch with no desire to please God and no change of heart.
Jason, you nailed it. Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:8-9. Check out John 15:1-8, those are some of my favorite verses on the subject. Sorry, I love the Bible, so here are some more passages on the subject...
We all have sinned and have fallen short of the Glory of God. But by GRACE we are saved. Grace being unmerited favor. Which means we didn't deserve it. And there is nothing you can do to deserve it. We should do good to please God, not to earn forgiveness or salvation. Change should be the byproduct, not the method of our salvation by Grace. That's what the song is about.
and I disagree with you strongly on that!!!! God created us all equally and just because one is diffrent dosnt mean he loves them any less then you! Sure it says man and women in the bible, but it also says to LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!
all sins are sins but i don't think they are all equal. (this maybe a bad analogy but it's the best i could come up with)for example all humans are humans but all humans are not equal in their abilities. that said, it doesn't mean that one should take comfort because they haven't murder anyone. cause it's still a sin and we all should strive to stop sinning (more like sin less.
this song is great it exposes all the bumper sticker Christians out there.
I don't disagree that God hates homosexuality or atrocities committed by ANYONE. However, I think he hates just as much those who hate the person who commits those acts. We should despise the sin, but love the human, regardless of their sin. That is what Jesus did.
God does not hate SINNERS..that would mean He hates all people which is not true. God hates the SIN. if he is holy, how could he love the SIN??? if a sinner asks God for forgiveness He gives it to them...and by giving them forgiveness...he cleans them from the sin which he hates.
Its amazing how many times people try to get rid of God... But what's better is how many times God shows His love for us all over again! People, God is REAL, and He doesn't hate you... Try talking to the "brothers" overseas who are killing our soldiers. Look at the people who burned the crosses in the KKK. Look at the signs the people made. Then look at the change, look at the difference. Look at the grace, then look at the forgiveness! God loves you and he does help!
I saw SCC last night in one of the most moving concerts I've ever been blessed to see. I wanted to watch a few of the songs, and came across this. The video is fantastic, but what's even BETTER is your coming to realize your faults, etc. I needed to read that today. God is AMAZING how He leads us right where we need to go. You have been blessed with a touch from Him. I could feel God's hand leading you through everything you wrote. THANK YOU!!!! :)
Actually, the "God, change me" comment is by Chapman. If you listen closely - VERY closely - at the end of the song you can hear him say this phrase. Of course, it's what I pray for as well, change in myself. It's only when I have removed my own splinter that I can concern myself with someone else's plank.
I love how you ended it with "God change me" not with anything about anyone else. This song is oneof my favorites and I think the video matches it perfectly. I like the images about serving and helping the less fortunate also.

God can't hate. First off.
Second, God loves ALL people.
Third, bumper sticker Christians need a good swift kick in the common sense gland.
Lastly, if you don't agree, read the new testament.

i don't get the signs that say "God hates fags" and "god hates you" and "Pope to hell"
and "pray for more dead soldiers"
i know god doesn't like gay people, but that is so rude. god doesnt hate them. he forgives them

God douse not hate homosexuality or murder. God loves all no matter what sins they have committed. God dous not hate
