  • Myabe there are to many x military guys running around Detroit. Maybe thats the problem. To many empty buildings and to many x military guys. Oh yeah.

  • Comment removed

  • move tokyo to detroit dot com

  • awful!

  • Oh my God, I had no idea it was that bad. You would think it was hit with a bomb. This is was in 2009? Well what is it like in 2011?????

  • If the American people keep electing anti-natural resource development socialists the rest of the country will look like Detroit in a few years.

  • it is sad to see and makes you wonder if this is intentional by the government officials, beautiful old homes left to rot but why? Economic crisis I think there's more to it tan just that

  • @deeunitt - It's called criminality, corruption, and treason. I bet the f*ckers responsible are living in McMansions in a non-blighted area sipping their whine and pretending to be real class-acts. A class act would not destroy one's own nation for their own personal benefit.

  • you know everything gets blamed on the economy but there is obviously corrupt officials in power, you people pay taxes on your homes which is a great ripoff. here in Australia you do not pay taxes on your own home, you only pay taxes on an investment property and only when you sell it. something needs to be done to help the people of Detroit. Obama obviously isn't doing enough

  • they borrowed millions to build these homes and only built a couple and walked away with all the cash!

  • Not so! Wall Street is a fake smoke and mirror method of life. It is similar to paper money. It is all based on slide-of-hand. Wall Street prides only for those who do not want to do REAL work. Real work makes a mans hands dirty. And real men don't wear suits and ties.

  • Born and raised in Detroit. Sad thing is it was not like this 30-35 years ago when I was a child. Its like that ALL OVER the city! Citizens for years have wanted the abandoned buildings torn down. Every election year some new promises to do just that. A few here and there might get bulldozed, but the clean up? no. It makes no sense! It could be great again. Thanks for doing this!

  • Just think, all that beauty of those buildings that used to exist and still can be fixed! And they decaying! What a waste!

  • I'm going to stop now because this is getting to me. Anyone else feel the same way.

  • Armegeddon!!! Move eve rybody out of that shit hole and bull doze it clean to the dirt!!! It`s an awful eye sore to see, it would be much better just to see it as a once vibrant city, now gone!!!

  • Detroit defines scum.

  • It's not the economy. The property tax rate is way out of wack. If those property taxes were to be held at $500. per year. People would buy them and rebuilding them would generate more revenue. At $8,000 per year not going to happen.

  • y no part #3,did u slip & fall again Tubby?

  • frame 3:38 shows a clear face shot of the person not wishing to be identified

  • For those that say they stold our jobs. That is not true. The corporations, their stock holders and Wall Steet gave away our jobs in the name of PROFIT ! ! ! If you love big corporations, capitalism and profit then you love the enemy !!!

  • @Engineer245 You're the first person that I saw that made that connection. That's what happens with globalization.

  • @E11evenz11 - - - Yeah,,, Wall Street is the Enemy of the common working citizen in a so called world economy. In a world economy it is always possible to find a cheaper source of labor. So, in the end the same ole rule applies. "For a few to have more,,, Many must have less"

  • @Engineer245 of course thats absolute bullshit because wealth isn't fixed. Unless you're claiming that 2011 the world had the same amount of wealth than the world had in 1511. Where there personal computers when you were young? Smart Phones or hell even dumb cellular phones? Where did all these new inventions and technologies come from if economic life was simply a fixed pie that never expanded.

  • To the Hong Kong guy: your country took most of our jobs. not your fault not mine just our greedy ass governments.

  • Looks like a f*****g goest town !

  • Those are such beautiful old buildings. It kills me that they're abandoned like that. What a waste.

  • you cant just destroy buildings...its costs even more money to do that

  • The city doesn't do anything because they are ignorant blacks, they are all corrupt with horrible leaders like Quame Kilpatrick. Nothing will ever change until all the blacks are emprisioned.

  • Thanks for the terrific footage. Its hard to imagine how bad it is there.

  • Ha these guys are taking this dude for a ride...he believes everything they tell him lol Dude I live around these areas this is hillarious lol

  • this is the opportunity to come out of egypt and start trusting Yahweh....

  • No steps because you can't build the steps until the final grade is established and completed. Also the equip is left behind because the contractor probably filled bankruptcy and so now the banks own the equipment.

  • Just watch most of this series including the intro "Urban Survivalist Detroit". I have to say, it must be easy to survive in a city in the safety of a freinds truck. Awesome job.....not.

  • 5:28 "No steps" You can run and jump into your overpriced house X-D"

  • there are plenty of very very nice Detroit suburbs. so this is not the "nicest" area of Detroit lol. bloomfield hills, birmingham, canton, the points, rochester and a couple more

  • What a shame, all those beautiful character homes let go to ruin. Billions spent on war could have gone towards rejuvinating areas like this.

  • this guy is such a twat, pretentious moron

  • It's a beautiful area with these brick mansions; if you could renovate these houses and fill up the gaps with some affordable housing it could become a nice area to live. People need to get together and makes some new ideas without the developers involved.

  • Comment removed

  • @hvanoorschot throw a bunch of enemployed poor into these areas and it will only worsen the problem. The solution is jobs, but those went bye bye.

  • The guy is obviously clueless. The city doesn't own the buildings, people do, they are locked in trusts, wills, etc... and where is he going to get the money to tear them down in the first place? This guy doesn't think.

  • first off why would you let your children walk around in a neighborhood that is dangerous like that??

  • broken arm ?! I wouldn't be surprised if coons whacked him while walking around abandoned houses

  • what happened to your arm?

  • 20/80 rule at work. 20% are open to what is really going on. 80% watch the mainstream crap media. This is real journalism . . .

  • Due to hyperinflation possiblity, many major cities AND MODERN SUBURBS... will look more like Detroit... If this happens, the following cities are screwed BIG TIME: Pheonix, Tucson, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, St. Louis, Nashville, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston..

Rural area and small towns can make it...

  • Although I do appreciate the urban decay aspect of it..this guy is either a terrible liar or naive as hell. Everyone knows the big D is a dilapidated city. I don't understand why he appears so clueless as to why this is happening. The city has been in shambles for decades. Why isn't Detroit doing anything? Why doesn't Detroit tear down buildings? Do some fucking research. I thought this guy was supposed to be a pseudo reporter or something? Oh and fuck Hong Kong nobody cares. Go flaunt elsewhere

  • Grace to you. This is the result of the REDERAL RESERVE Act of 1913 and the Bankruptcy of 1933. The Banking cartel that was created in 1913 has run the U.S. Economy into shreds and we the people into Debt Slaves. Think of it like a mine collapse the people that are trapped move a big timber here and another there trying to keep the thing from totally falling in on them, that is what the Stimulus Bill was all about. Keep the people blind and moving towards totalitarianism .Peace.

  • Just more goverment (tax payer dollars) waste.

The system here is finished, and soon, natural forces will expose the real situation across the entire nation . . . no jobs, no businesses. no housing (or renting) . . . no life.

  • its been going on for a long time but that just goes to show that it is ground zero and its where it started

  • I would actualy like to see it in the spring in areas where trees and plants have grown in

  • YOU HURT YOUR ARM FALLING?

  • Niggers and crack did this!

  • @anitafixx666 that was such an ignorant comment to make. and its not them, it's the FED (you know, JD Rockefeller, JP Chase Morgan Family, Rothschild) that did this. you know, those white 1%-ers who own 48% of the world's' wealth?

  • @nelliehart

    agreed

  • @nelliehart But they aren´t really white people, they hate white people.

  • Resembles Bimini and Haiti.

  • The city of Detroit is WAY in the red. I used to live there....blocks north of 8 mile. It's been getting progressively worse since the 70s. Take a good look folks....the rest of the country will follow Detroit's lead....

  • Ten years, this does not happen in ten years, this took DECADES!

  • this is what so cal is gona look like soon....very soon....

  • Comment removed

  • This is sad but we gotta prepare to see this throughout the country.

  • What a horrible place.

  • could someone describe that beginning structure to me? was that cast iron supports holding up the front wall of a building?

  • If you want to know what's going on in San Joaquin Valley, Detroit and spreading quickly, look no further than "Agenda 21". America is being "Greened" or "Re-wilded". Agenda 21 has many sinister aims, one of which is to reduce the population by 80%. Sound crazy, yes it does. Google "Agenda 21" and you can download the documents to read for yourself.

  • I live in Hong Kong. Here we have: a 16% maximum tax rate, a government with no debt, and a huge surplus. New rail lines to China being built, costing billions.

People work d@mn hard here, and do not expect handout from the government. 10 minutes walk from where I live is Mong Kok (crowded corner), the densest habitation on the planet. If people want to live in a house, they pay a huge land premium to the government. USA, you have much to learn, as you sink into poverty.

  • @BubbFromGEI

Don't worry when people don't want your crap products anymore you'll take your dive. Quality before quantity.

  • @BubbFromGEI

Just remember, when the US sinks, so shall you - no matter how hard you work.

No ones going to be buying all your cheap merchandise (built with slave labor in your country) once the US goes down the tube.

  • @theroilsoil

not if they buy what they produce...

  • @BubbFromGEI - As an Engineer I spent time in HK but my room was in Kowloon. The company that I worked for transfered all their product lines to the area. We made our more difficult prodcut in Taiwan and the rest all over S.E.China. I would never blame the people there for our economic woes here in the USA. I only wish the people there luck and good fortune as they experience the best of what life has to offer in a growing country that has a fantastic future ahead. I am unemployeed now. Cheers!

  • @BubbFromGEI you're full of shit, you live in the UK and you're from the USA.

  • this looks like the Brush Park District of old 1890 mansions. this area is being bought up & the mansions are being restored to original condition.

the video guy is misleading. this neighborhood was abandon for a long time, but now it is hot & you have to have some serious cash to get one of those old brick mansions.

  • Maybe the kids are smart enough to stay out of them.

  • I notice your hand in that sling. Did you get it from that major fall in the first part?

  • because of a group of elite zionists hoarding all the wealth perhaps you should direct your questions at the federal reserve!

  • The f#%k if you know what a Zionist is!

  • don't start your shit i'm not getting into a dumb argument with you

  • what happened to part 3 ?

  • @jamaulbrown

It looks like he must have fallen and the camera was confiscated by the communist regime that is tunneling it's way from their core country and invading the U.S. from the underground.

  • The country is going to learn a hard lesson..Too bad many people will suffer for it.

  • Hey.....Obamy wants to stimulate...knock the buildings down and grow some food!

  • Detroit is in collapse because of NIGGERS not the economy.

  • nice nick pussyface...

  • I know right? It makes all the cock gagers come out and tell me how great it is.

  • @columbinestylekilla2

    lol okay

  • Making fun of and criticizing Detroit is like slamming a child with Down's Syndrome...

Wall Street banks get trillions of bailout dollars for corruption that dwarfs any corruption that's talked about here.

  • But unlike the Wall Street corruption which most people don't see, this is impossible to overlook. What you saw in this video is a sign of things to come in YOUR area especially if you live in a big city.

  • @johnlouisville - No, the bailout money was paid back except for AIG. So learn to check facts or don't post here.

  • ok i live in detroit and alot of downtown is nice but 8mile down to comarica park is bad but the rest is good

  • define "good." If you mean strip malls and huge parking lots with graffiti everywhere, well that's just pathetic. You must have very low standards.

  • there is know way detriot could afford demalition crews to tear down those buildings.george does not understand this,it would cost billions.

  • Who is this douchebag? His reporting is pretty shitty.

  • Hey george...good ass reporting...you should be on a news chanel

  • George, You deserve an award of some kind for your work on this documentary.

  • I really didn't know Detroit was such a shit hole

  • another great video!!!! thanks for showing the Real detroit.

  • The economy? The real problem is the central banking cartels.

End the fed! The government should be in control of the money supply as stated in the constitution.

  • You worked for the CIA and FBI?

  • In reality the "abandoned" area in north in Detroit proper of Comerica Park is coming back -- or was, prior to the meltdown. Half the houses there are being lived in or are ready-to-move-in condition with RE signs out front. But the areas Detroit and its suburbs that are totally abandoned, that's the future of this country, right there!

  • This has been happening for years...since the 60's. Once the riots hit and all the burnings, people wanted out. Look closer at some of these places...they havent been touched for 30 years.

People who say this is what the rest of the country is going to look like, its not. Detroit was an experiment that went wrong.

Kinda freaky looking at all these videos though.

  • This is what happens when cities lose their manufacturing base. The cities came about because of industry. The cities will be empty in less than a decade and rural America will be full of self sustaining communities The money has finally been sucked out of every city and what you have left is the skin and bones

  • Rural America will be self sustaining communities? IMO they will not, and this is because of the rise of CORPORATE FARMS. The family farmer can't compete! And now, the Democrats and Republicans in Congress plan to deliver the coup de grace to the individual and family farmers by making it illegal for them to provide any added value food products without conforming to onerous requirements in a new food "safety" bill, HR 875 which is supposed to address factory farms and food processing mills.

  • OCP

  • pause at 3:39 you can see those X Army men :D

  • i see suburbs like that all over in michigan its sad truly detroit doesnt even have a million people no more they all moved thats why the rest of this state is bad i live in a country town belleville which now has shootings hoods like suburban hoods and gang violence its like a town not city or rural and 87% of my only 2000 students is black and 86% are from detroit and went to school there the other is from ypsi romulus or other even preppy emo & rednecks are in gangs. No joke!saline:ctryghetto

  • Mabey, Detroit will assemble ROBO COP and clean up the city.

  • You need to watch Robocop again.

  • I think Detroit is the prototype for what is going to happen to the rest of the country.

  • Yes indeed......and people are acting like nothing is happening.

    Detroit is just the beginning.........

  • Comment removed

  • @ratoncaton they would never show this on major networks, you would have a mass revolution.

  • Detroit has been falling apart for Decades, even before Ronald Reagan the city was being destroyed from lack of care.

  • the big empire is crumbling from within - just like the roman empire!

  • That kind of attitude is why nothing gets fixed

  • that is a fact - far from an attitude.

  • but those are beautiful buildings...the architecture, those are classic old buildings

  • Sell Detroit to China.

They'll at least do something productive with it.

  • JD Part 1

The thing that drew George to Detroit to make these videos is also the only thing that could one day, maybe, possibly save this city.

5 years ago I left Detroit to live in Paris France (you want hallow?). I now miss the hell out of Detroit... And BTW, I'm white as a ghost.

  • Comment removed

  • JD Part 2

Yes in a way Detroit is one big movie set, but it is real and it is living. In this sense, there are no adventure films or amusement parks that could ever compare.

  • JD Part 3

Detroit may be a bombed out ruin, but it is also the world's most photogenic petri dish. Mock Detroit's school system if you wish, but all this misery breeds talent, the likes of which no school could ever hope to mimic. For certain subject matter and for those sufficiently motivated, this city is in fact one of our nation's best schools. Why is it not looked on and protected as a national treasure?

  • JD Part 4

With regard to the burned houses; we no longer build such beautiful homes... STOP BURNING THEM!

  • JD Part 5

With regard to the few race-oriented comments : Frankly, as a Caucasian, knowing that those comments are sitting there, I feel terrible. I would like to suggest to the authors that they get out and see a bit of the world; they would likely conclude that corruption knows no race.

  • Next time when you go to Detroit again, Go to South West Detroit. (Mexican Town) Make a video on that side of Detroit.

  • Here's why they don't clean it up, i.e. raze the city. First, black people are in charge, which means that they are stupid overall and I bet most of them have bullshit degrees, i.e. not too many land surveyors or engineers at city hall. Second, they're broke and the properties need to be surveyed and bought before they're razed. Since a bunch of monkeys probably own the properties, and a bunch of monkeys want to buy them, and a bunch of monkeys then need to raze them then...

  • This is what happens when you put black people in charge of a city or a country. Black people are stupid and irresponsible. They can't even run their own lives but Americans nevertheless give these cosmic morons so much power. All blacks know is how to lie and steal.

  • comparing this to a 3rd world country is ridiculous... and its been going on for 20plus yrs

and its not what your country can do for you but you can do for your country...the people gotta take of their property..they gotta take responsibility for their actions you can blame the governments but thats only part of the problem

  • Obama like Bush like Clinton are creating low paying jobs overseas.

  • lawsuits- Detroit is bankrupt- just like the USA

  • That "regime" you talk about has brought the whole country down, Detroit was the heart of America's manufacturing base, Now there ain't shit, what would anyone with a working brain expect to see there?

  • Bias and self serving lots of creative editing.

Detroit has been on the decline for 30 years. You asked why don't they (Detroit) take down and clean up the old buildings? They don't have the money to do it.

I'm curious, why didn't you show Grosse Point or Indian Village? Or the night life downtown near Greek town?

How about Belle Island and the Detroit Yacht Club?

  • whatever. i'm from detroit and for an outsider, george4title got it pretty much right. what, he didn't show a couple of bright spots on the armpit of america? give me a break. detroit is that bad and people need to know. like the old saying goes: you could put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig.

  • There are nice sections in India, too....

  • This is corruption of the people, by greedy, lying, money loving idiots.

Don't these people love their own people anymore and the future of their own children.

    This is madness!

    Stay Strong all!

  • This reminds me of another large city I used to live in. The roads in the bad part of town were complete garbage until you got to the entertainment district that contained sports venues and amusement parks.

  • I truly think Detroit is the blueprint for the future of this country.

    Great work.

  • Is Detroit on crack?

I despair with this Baltimore is better (worse) mentality.

Did they never plant any trees back in the day? Do you not do gardens in America?

    Those houses look so naked?

Or is that just my English viewpoint?

Wow, I feel for you America. It will be very hard to deal with problems such as these. Good luck though... (plenty of land for vegetables though).. chins up!

  • lol it's not like they would just cut off public services to an area then say, hey, let's fix up the place. landscaping requires maintenance just like everything else.

  • there is a very good reason for this.

Detroit is over 90% black. Their last mayor just got out of prison. Notice the city looks like a run down 3rd world country. Every single city in America that is run by minorities looks similar.

    this isn't racism its fact.

  • Another case for affirmative action. Give blacks control or majority of something and you get THIS !!

  • Excellent video.

    It will only get worse.

Bring in the bulldozers. Caterpillar, JCB etc... can certainly use the jobs.

    Make the owners responsible.

  • Niggers run the place. If you are surprised at all you are retarded.

  • Yeah and white men ran the entire country into the ground!

  • Jews ran the country down. Whites did a fine job until the 50s.

  • The problem is not by fault of any race or ethnic gruop, the fault is at corrupt corporatism and the bureaucracy known as the federal reserve, who has created this mess. With their neo-liberal proggressive agenda they are indoctrinating the minds of innercity people to be slaves to the welfare system and to rely on the federal gov. to keep them alive and with dough. This causes high unemployment and low moral, with no motivation of improving their lives, which ends up to disaster.

  • What's the point in living in the suburbs if there is more vacant land in the city?

  • Where are the famous detroit black people at?

  • this is also the most racialy polarized city ive ever seen. 8 mile road is like a DMZ between white and black. previous city administrations were so antagonistic toward any investment from the suburbs that even good faith investors were driven away. an excellent current example is cobo hall where the international auto show has always been held. the city of detroit wont relinquish even a portion of control in return for 200 million in investment from the suburbs. so we will lose the autoshow too

  • george did a good job but like all of us from detroit can tell you, its been this way for a long time. there is an entrenched culture of greed and nepotism in the city government and its the same in the public school system. when they tried to audit the DPS the auditor was finding scraps of paper which served as documentation for 750,000$ payouts to contractors who worked out of a post office box. no one could say what work was performed or who exactly did it. there were hundreds of these.

  • Damn this looks a lot like some empty construction sites here in Brazil

  • the abandoned buildings have been here for a long time. residents in the city set abandoned homes on fire because the city refuses to tear them down. thats the only way to get rid of them. arson. the leadership of detroit has been corrupt for many years the improvements you see in the downtown area are from private investors mostly.

  • Holy shit thats fucked up as hell...america is really leting that happen? what happend to humanity?

  • in a word.... "GREED"

  • Detroit has been in an economic decline for almost thirty years. A lot of those abandoned buildings look like that have been that way for a long time.

  • These Detroit's videos seems like the scenarios of the movie Highlander :The Source.

Great work George, I hope your arm is getting better.

  • It's not fair to say the place is like the Third World. The Third World never had something nice to let it ruin and actively destroy it in the first place.

  • That was great, I could watch more.

  • Proverbs

    15

10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

  • Hope your arm gets better quickly bro!

    Great stuff!

  • Dude, your grandma passed and you broke your arm?! They say bad news comes in 3. Stay alert, man... We really appreciate the vids.

  • Well that really looks like one dead city.

    Pretty interesting.

Anyone played Fallout 1-2? You can look it up on YouTube.

The Detroit in these videos reminded me of the post-apocalyptic USA depicted in that video game. Which is weird since I don't think I observed anything apocalypse-like. But I'm living on another continent, so maybe that's why...

  • LOL. You are not the only one thinking this way, sadunkal. If you played Resident Evil 5 and watched Degeneration, it depicts the New World Order through bio-terrorism and corporate/government corruption.

If this continues here in the United States, we will see something similar like in these videos. Thanks George and NIA.

  • THAT'S A BUNCH OF BULL SH*T!!!!!!!!!!

How can a CITY just go to SH*T like that?

Why isn't the GOVERNMENT STEPPING IN A HELPING our cities?????

Giving all that Money to Those Banks~ It's a JOKE I TELL YA!!

  • Are you Freaken Kiddin' Me ~ That's the Business District, Looking like a GHOST TOWN? Where are all the PEOPLE??

So What's the Plan?? Gotta Be A Plan!

    And they worry about Dying & going to H*LL ~ Shhhh*t !! That's H*LL Right There!

  • Detroit resembles Hell on Earth. Well I guess living there would be better than having to live with my dad. I'd rather die than have to live with my dad... Detroit would be a better hell I guess

  • I was in Detroit a couple of years ago. It was unbelievable how bad it was. So glad I moved south before it went to hell.

  • Very scary stuff.

Should have waited for October to put these vids up!!!

    Thanks, George.

  • What the fuck is wrong with that place !

  • devils night cuases alot of damage in detroit

    you should see it

when i used to live in flint up until a couple years ago the devils night in those two areas was insane

the whole city would look to be on fire

and alot of what you are seeing is the aftermath

  • I was in Vegas this past weekend and one minute we were on the strip and the next we were driving by blocks filled with homeless people sleeping in tents and sleeping bags, it was very sad.

  • Oh, you mean you found Main Street north of Downtown?

Isn't that just disgusting? And the saddest thing is that a LOT of those homeless are kids. It's easy to just say that "they're homeless in a gambling town and therefore probably did it to themselves", but whether or not that is true, what IS true is that the casinos are taxed so little that they provide almost none of the city infrastructure. The rest comes from ballot initiatives which are usually voted down. Vegas will go down next.

  • I wonder how the bank that fronted money for the last development in this video is reporting the loss? Probably as some sort of a profit. What a waste of land, resources and the energy to get that far in a project. Darn banks and there irresponsible lending.

  • Me thinks George's family would rather have him at home in his tent and doing Blogtv than taking these kind of risks.

    Just my personal opinion.

    Rhiannon
