Not because women weren't equal, but because women were widely seen as such back then and God knew that it would be more difficult to get men to follow them in that time period as it was difficult enough to prove to people that a man was a true prophet. @sqaish i remember that every sura shall be understood together with the knowledge of the environment. actually in the age of muhammad (may peace be upon him), in arabian peninsula it is patrialineal society so women at that moment has a low level of education so many of the teachings were targeted to male. however there are also some matrilineal society in the world. i am a muslim but i am also from a matrilineal society. should all of the female in our society go back to kitchen?

That's like if he never said the grass was green and so you are now going to assume that grass is not really green because he didn't say it was. In his life women were allowed to pray with men and yet over time people changed it. This is haram. If a man can not avert his eyes from the female body he is not true to his faith, is he?

@DarkAnderebu When they prayed behind the prophet they used to be at the back of the jamaat, and yes women stopped going even at the time of the sahabas. a person has to control hiz gaze no matter what. we believe in sunnah and this wasn't a sunnah. Before the time of qiyaamah new fitna will emerge and this is one of them. How come no women ws imaan at the imaam at the time of the taabieen and when great scholars were present.

Not because women weren't equal, but because women were widely seen as such back then and God knew that it would be more difficult to get men to follow them in that time period as it was difficult enough to prove to people that a man was a true prophet. Whether it's wrong or right for a woman to be an imam I can not truly say. However, as the Qur'an says only those with light in their hearts and God himself can know the truth of the Qur'an.
