I don't know what Mako has to do with anything because she doesn't own the field or have any rights to it.

However, I'm glad Hideki grew up and realized that he needs to take maters into his own hands (though its obvious he's being conned because nothing ever goes right for that poor bastard in this anime).

He shouldn't have tossed away Ichiro like that but instead of should have told him to come along (because he doesn't give a damn about Mako as well).

I think Hideki did the right thing because he grew up and realized that planting stupid Daikons isn't going to get you rich unless you hit oil in that field or grow magical veggies that cure all diseases and keep you young forever.

However, I don't think he abandoned Ichiro because the dome is for all of them (not just him) but he's abandoning the dream of doing it together because its obvious that Ichiro's jar of coins isn't going to cut it.
