u all are the idiots in this situation. its called butterfly. i a quicker and more efficient form of the kip. only the more elite crossfitters can do it.
@XxF3ARXxDEATHXx Seriously! By now, all should know CrossFitters are animals and can out-perform and of those who criticize. I'm still trying to perfect the butterfly. Cheers.
Seriously people ? You REALLY believe a Kipping pullup is a "correct way" to do them WITHOUT getting injured ? I mean come on, it's jerking all the way ! Just get some strength and do real pullups, but faster. Kills me to see this everytime ! :(
@HouseForLife6 Dead-hang pull-ups are incredibly inefficient for fluid movement. Kipping pull-ups allows for cycling, which is what you're going for in CrossFit and tabata.
Maybe you should show people doing proper pull-ups. Thats the worst technique ive ever seen. Not to mention your sit-ups. Im surprised no one broke their back during this workout.
@Sasquach90 They are doing proper kip pullups. Not static pullups. Both accomplish the same thing....your shin over the bar. The slow static pullups just use more arms/back. The Kip uses more abs/legs.
@polishguitarkid Legs together and straight = limited ROM due to hamstring tightness. Splaying your knees out like that helps to move in and out of the sit-up with very high frequency.
i dont get one thing..y do u have to make it so hard...if u study the original tabata protocol its actually for trained athletes not supposed to be for normal people ...may be the ripped guy here is some sort of athlete but what about the rest of the guys..they r miles from being fit....so its better you start with normal excercise..its all about continuing the stuff ....just my opinion
There is no "swing" in a pull-up. You, sir, are doing it wrong. I mean, yay for you, for doing so many fake pull-ups. But, seriously, cross your feet and do it right. Crossing feet (see other guy in video) inhibits swing. You are swinging like a monkey. That gives you incredible momentum. And... does your tittle say "tabata?" You should look that up...
@420squeeg I hatttte those freaking pull ups - hugh whoever invented them must have done it on a dare and was like...shit, people are doing these stupid things! ha
@420squeeg crossfit trains cardiovascular endurance. Therefore, all of their movements are designed to increase the aerobic capacity, including the kipping pullup. The deadhang pullup is intended to isolate the shoulders and lats. It is meant to increase size and therefore doesn't provide the benefits to a crossfitter that the kipping pullup does. The deadhang was meant for bodybuilders not crossfitters.
@420squeeg Dead-hang pull-ups are incredibly inefficient for fluid movement. Kipping pull-ups allows for cycling, which is what you're going for in CrossFit and tabata.
@axemurderer4hire Kipping pullups are an easier way to do pullups. Plain and simple. Many of crossfit's exercises are meant to be performed while using momentum to make the movement easier. Crossfit works because people are active and its a great cardio workout. But the form on many of the exercises are just atrocious, but thats what happens when you are aiming for a timed goal...you try to do the workout in the shortest time possible.
@yonkersfugitive Yeah, I know. I was speaking in defense of the crossfitters, to the ppl who don't know kip. I know what it feels like to do either 5 deadhang pull ups or 15 kipping pull ups per set. The second look easy, but the next day, you're 3x more sore.
@axemurderer4hire I know you were defending the crossfitters. I was not, i was unbiasedly trying to discredit crossfit. Kipping pullups are without a doubt easier than deadhang pullups. But theoretically if you are doing any exercise to complete failure (even more so a full body exercise) you will be exhausted by the end of the set. Kipping pullups recruit more muscles to create momentum than deadhang pullups which makes the person able to perform more but can make u more tired at the end
Good intensity man, way to keep that up. The only thing I would say is that I found myself thinking "no rep" a lot. Butterfly kipping only works when you can still get your chin over the bar, once that stops happening, go back to regular kipping, make sure you get full lockout on your pushups, and make sure you open your hips up at the top of the squat.
what happened to full range of motion? and you shouldnt go for speed because that ruins the technique. go slower with more control and full range of motion, then gradually you can get faster at it.
Love all CrossFit, In this WOD I would be penalizing the short guy due to partial range of movement on his squats & push ups. He would be getting a far better hormonal response from the WOD.
It's interesting you mention range of motion in the beginning of the video. Your Pull Ups look great but your Push Ups are definitely balls to floor when the should be chest and nose to floor with your hips never touching and your squats don't crease the hip at all. Otherwise good effort.
terrible form you all fail,

worms (are crossfit butterflies) and are harder to master than kipping pullups. Do 100 pullups-kipping or otherwise then report back.

doing the worm doesnt count as a pull up. what fitness director would allow this?!

The number of repetitions means jack sh*t if you aren't using proper form you noob. Your lack of ripped-ness speaks for itself.

10 out of 10 for effort but that was a display of the worst sit ups i've ever seen.
surely it would be better to complete as many as possible with good technique rather than cheat your way thru a workout?

What's the point of doing "fake" pull ups? I don't get it because if you're trying to do cardio with pull ups I recommend doing something else.
The only thing worth about this video is the girl...hot bitch.
