It was a perfect close to a fabulous Montreal Jazz fest. I visited Montreal for the first time from DC. What a great city for music, etc! Champion....when ya comimg to DC?

This is a pure genius & brilliant song! I've studied the song & lyrics closely and it suggests that this song may have originated from African-American slaves. Does anyone know the origins of this song? Did DJ Champion originally write this song, or was it sampled from something else? Any facts or history about this song would be highly appreciated! I'd also love to know the lead singer's name! She deserves at least half the credit! She's freakin' awesome!
