Her voice wasn't too good live but in the recorded version her voice is absolutely stunning. Not that it was bad but here it just sounds very plain Jane and average. She sure was beautiful!

This is a beautiful song. This version I like very much by Skeeter Davis (Mary Francis Penick). I like Lana Del Rey's version under her original name Elizabeth Grant. I particularly like Sonia's version too. This is a very beautiful song sung in a really professional and fantastic way by Skeeter Davis...simply brilliant...It's so so beautiful. God Bless her......

what some people are missing about Skeeter's 'hill billy' sounding voice is that she put OVER this song in a simple, naive way---her unpolished voice was part of the charm of it---you believed her singing. Its a true country sound-not like today's slicked up produced wanna be's.
