  • Greenbean by his side

  • Does she have a cold?

  • You know being a self proclained "metalhead" listening to bands like 'slayer', 'slipknot' and "marylin manson', I gotta admit I love this song, the first time I heard it I could not believe the subject and with her voice, kinda hits the soul, absolutley FANTASTIC

  • Like this if Eliza Rickman brought you here. And... if she didn't than perhaps you should take a minute to look her up because she is awesome.

  • On this date in 1963 {Jan. 26th} "The End of the World" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart, eventually it peaked at No. 2 {for 1 week} and spent a total of 17 weeks in the Top 100. This was Ms. Davis' 1st Top 10 record, her other was "I Can't Stay Mad At You", which reached No. 7, also in the year 1963!!!

  • Mad men!

  • why is life filled with more disappointment and misery...and why..are the good times...so few and far between?

  • Anika did a very cool post punk sounding cover of this

  • Considering that I first heard this song in Girl Interrupted, it's always a really haunting experience when I listen to this song

  • @ freedom3671 I soo agree I wasn't born till 93 but my pawpaw plays this song to us grandchildren all the time on his record player I love this song !!

  • Mad Men brought me here.

  • We need entertainers like these now a days.

  • world will not end in December

  • Heard this song on "Mad Men" the other day. The esp. where Betty asks Don for a divorce.

  • THIS is real talent, unlike that over autotuned beiber.

  • My moms fav karaoke song!

  • This is outstanding.

  • i heard this on girl, interrupted ♥

  • I like her hair. The front of her hair is the opposite of a bang. She sings innocently.

  • It is cute and that is that.

  • just for laughs, cause you know...it's 2012 now, it's all gonna end.

  • A simple Southern America love song of the 1960's ...

  • Wow, that hair! It can be used as a jack stand when changing a tire..

  • bieber was here?!?!

  • @meyrickzoe

why talking bout a dick in a great songs like that? xD

  • at 39 I still love this song. Simple. Serious. Beautiful.

  • WHITEGIRLMOB

  • i really dig this song

  • " 4 Seasosn Until The End Of The World "

    My creation

  • nuts think world will end in December

  • Why songs of those days so mean full?

  • good song first time hearing it from this singer ive alway heard the carpenters version. and I like theirs better.

  • In December of this year, when the earth starts breaking apart I will hurriedly play this song. Can't think of a more fitting send off for dear planet Earth!

  • This is a great song fo the New Yaer!!! Happy 2012.

  • I like "Sunglasses" better, but still this is still a good song, in fact her signature tune. Those in the previous comments who pigeon-hole her as a country singer are selling her short: She was in fact one of the original country/pop crossover singers.

  • one of the saddest songs ever

  • why is my heart goin to a biting

  • Sensational. You can tell she knows the song is phenomenal, and she relaxed as she sang it .The don;t make ;em like that anymore

  • Great song!

  • In Memory of Mary Frances Penick (December 30, 1931 September 19, 2004), better known as Skeeter Davis, was an American country music singer. She had such a beautiful voice.

  • Dat hairdo.

  • Love the 60's, when people weren't afraid writing and singing songs involving their emotions. You can feel the pain in her heart when she sings it, and this is what the world lacks the most today. Pure emotions and humanity, innocence and truth.

  • She was too adorable.

  • great song great entertainer RIP

  • So sad! The holidays suck! No wonder so many ppl do thenselves in around this time of year. Sooo I have something to talk to my therapist about tomorrow.

  • @TheMustangsally75 Dude. I don't have two nickels to rub together. But I will continue to live. I am a loser, as the Beatles song says, but I have hope, I must have hope. I am not a good Christian, but believe in the power of God. Don't give up, man.

  • who originally did this song? skeeter or herman's hermits?

  • gota love the hairdo.

  • reminds me of the depressing scene in girl, interrupted

  • one of the most beutiful voices evar

  • she talks....Lulu sings!

  • her voice is so beautiful! emaizing song

  • I have to say I like Herman's Hermits' version way better. Skeeter looks pretty bored here, but it may just be nerves. Either way, great song.

  • Can't believe RZA (Wu Tang Clan) used samples from this, genuis. Full respect, nice song.

  • This bitch was the rebecca black of back then. she wasn't real. She didn't deserve a camera on her.

  • @BrockWorthington Who are you and why are you commenting on this?

  • typical Sixties look, lol

  • Never stop loving this song, thank you

  • It's hard for me to put my finger on it, but she is just lacking in some way!

  • I love this song.

  • The hair is fabulous with the dress. Ah, innocence. How we need you now. And why is nobody named Skeeter anymore?

  • @sprucetree49 it's all sweet, and great song, but let's face it, this is not a good look. and yet the sixties were full of great looks! This hair, Jesus.

  • @sprucetree49 Hey, my kitty is named skeeter watch it...lol

  • Wonderful old song, really different looking back then....and some of the most CHILDISH comments from schultz970 and chatman2a. GROW UP GUYS! LOL

  • i been in love many times but on my third serious try i found my soulmate when we split i felt exactly like this song. I swear the world should of stopped cause i was in such serious pain. I never and never will feel that way for someone. But I will always love my soulmate Bryan. I love you Bryan forever

  • @nativedancingmaiden

bryan must have had a huge weener and really did you good in the sack...he had to have ...because even after he broke, trounced and ground your heart into the ground...here you are still talking niney nice about him.

if he had been a limpnoodle you'd be calling him a loser and asking how you ever fell for a mega- douche like that..

bryan is my hero...old love and leave'em bryan...

most women are bitches and dump on their pussy whipped men ...

    NOT bryan..HE DA' MAN!!!!

  • This show was taped immediately after the great hairdresser's strike of 1965.

  • Brilliant posting Thankyou.

  • you people need to settle down have a beer or seven and just chill out

  • Stringbean!

  • Skeeter has a nice voice, but the 50's hairdo...! Ouch! I'm thinking a poodle, arf! arf!

  • wow...what an awesome song

  • Hey ronetteloverz, mayby blast it out your window on 78 speed to lighten the mood..

  • Lana Del Rey cover of this song is magnificient

  • I like the music, voice & 1st 2 lines on lyrics. Thanks for uploading

  • if Karen Carpenter sang this song she would have blown Skeeter out of this world!

  • Why did Amy Poler never impersonate her?

  • @GroovyRaffRaff cause no one knows who the hell she is anymore.

  • @schultz970 Speak for youself, you geek. Just because YOU don't know who she is doesn't mean the entire world is as ignorant as you are.

I certainly know who Skeeter Davis is. I'll NEVER forget her....or the music she left behind.

  • @chatman2a I know exactly who she was. Geek?....good one. I meant it in the sense that this is almost 50 years ago and most of todays youth couldn't name 3 Beatles albums let alone have knowledge of Skeeter Davis......p.s..- your hero is a little off key here.

  • @schultz970 Your smarmy comment about Skeeter Davis being my hero was sophomoric at best, and sardonic at worst. Moreover, your critique of her singing being "off key" was totally unnecessary. Is this how you get your jollies, by making derisive comments about other people? I suggest you take a close, long look at your own character flaws before taking pot shots at others. You just might learn a thing or two about the virtues of humility.

  • @chatman2a 'smarmy, sophomoric, sardonic....' somebody made it to the S's in the dictionary. GOD get over yourself already. Are you the Skeeter Davis police or what. Check out the latest comment someone made about her hair - go annoy them. You're a bit like a 'skeeter yourself.

  • @schultz970 You ask if I'm the "Skeeter Davis police?" Well, actually I am. I'd also like to police the world against scum like you (oops! Sorry. I had the audacity to use another word that begins with the letter "s."). Are you so perfect that you've nothing else to do but issue annoying comments about a singer who charted oh, only about a couple dozen more top 10 hits than yourself? It seems that the bankrupcy of your character is exceeded only by the depth of your ignorance.

  • @chatman2a So because someone doesn't agree with YOUR opinion, they're 'scum'? And you have the power to judge someones character through YouTube? Well then I might as well go for it -This is a stupid song being sung by a nasally, sub-par voiced hillbilly. Sounds more like a bag of cats than a human. That's MY opinion. And guess what - your world will keep spinning despite the fact that I think that. You never knew this woman and you never will. Let go of your weird obsession with her. Bye.

  • @schultz970 You pompous, supercilious, ne'-er-do-well. Where do you get off telling ME that I did not know Ms. Davis?. I did happen to meet her and converse with her on more than one occasion. She was not the strident, caterwauling, "hillbilly" that you, in your scatalogical language labeled her. You, my friend, have exposed yourself as an arrogant, ignorant, bigot of the first order (is there any other kind?). I have no further words for you except these: Goodbye and good riddance.

  • @chatman2a I love hillbillys strange as it may seem with their less than 80 IQ. This song was composed in 1959 and released in the sixties.

  • @chatman2a dang i dont know what the argument was but dang u showed them!

  • @chatman2a wow.. buy some tampons for your vagina and quit bitching.

  • @Lindskog18 It wasn't very clever of you to use the number "18" in your username (Lindskog18). The "18" quite clearly represents your IQ. Now the whole world knows.

  • @chatman2a Too bad there is not a heck yes or 2 thumbs up button for your comment!

  • @chatman2a

    Fag.

  • @mwuu Oh I see: You're just another cravenly, inarticulate, barely-literate skunk, hiding behind a computer keyboard. As long as you skulk in that locale, then I suppose you'll feel free to hurl insults to your heart's content. Well, my friend, go ahead: hurl the insults (and even profanities and vulgarities, if you will). Go ahead. Fire away: Show the world what a diminutive mind you have.

  • @chatman2a

    Well said my friend!!!

  • @schultz970 you keep listening to your justin bieber music and we'll keep listening to real music, real songs--- enough said

  • @2323giggity you have no idea how stupid (and generic- not well played) that comment is. I couldn't name one justin bieber song AND PROUD OF IT.

  • HAIR ENVY

  • nice song oldies

  • Great song, but one of the worst performances ever. She looks about as enthusiastic as a dish towel, even for a sad song.

  • LINDO! amo essa musica

  • Bloody Hell love, no wonder he left!

  • Her voice wasn't too good live but in the recorded version her voice is absolutely stunning. Not that it was bad but here it just sounds very plain Jane and average. She sure was beautiful!

  • One of the best songs ever. :) When people actually sang and had talent

  • I know that dress and hairdo were fine back then, but boy, do they look bizarre now! She's a woman wearing a dress for a six-year-old!

  • EIS AM STIEL 5 ♥♥♥♥

  • It would have been so freaking awesome if Amy Winehouse would have remade this song. Her voice would have totally repopularized this song!

  • @crystalg71 That is really an excellent point!! It would have been a perfect song for Winehouse.

  • That is an excellent point!! Amy's voice and inflections would have been ideal for this.

  • she is so beautiful!!!

  • Suits my mood at the moment...

  • beautiful song but how did they make there hairs like that back then ; that's a mystery ://

  • a timeless classic

  • She's one of the reasons they invented detangler. I bet there's still hairspray in her hair from 1964. Great song though.

  • @DontFriendInviteMe well you know thats a wig all 1960's stars did

  • LOL! Her "thank y'all very much" at the end is to adorable.

  • i find this song so f%#$(*& disturbing

  • beautiful song... but what's with her hair?

  • This is a beautiful song. This version I like very much by Skeeter Davis (Mary Francis Penick). I like Lana Del Rey's version under her original name Elizabeth Grant. I particularly like Sonia's version too. This is a very beautiful song sung in a really professional and fantastic way by Skeeter Davis...simply brilliant...It's so so beautiful. God Bless her......

  • Times were great back then. Everyone was happpy. Now adays Illuminati control everything and everyone's minds Look around. .

  • @youdevil6 Dude, what the fuck?

  • Tarde años en encontrarla. Amo esta canción.

  • Thank you so much for this video. I always loved this song.

  • Skeeter's hair and dress show she had pride in her appearance, not like people today who look like slobs. Great song girl. Bet you're looking good now sitting with the lord.

  • is that a helmet?

  • Love this sing :)

  • i love this song <3

  • beautiful hair.

  • I'm going to blast this song out my window at midnight on December 21, 2012, as the world implodes.....

    GET READY FOR WARNING NOW!!!

    thewarningsecondcoming . com

  • @ronetteloverz Im gonna laugh when nothing happens.

  • I sang this song when I lost my money going to school.

  • what some people are missing about Skeeter's 'hill billy' sounding voice is that she put OVER this song in a simple, naive way---her unpolished voice was part of the charm of it---you believed her singing. Its a true country sound-not like today's slicked up produced wanna be's.

  • Bump it up with Bump-Its! Hello Miss Yvonne!

  • i thought this was a joke. her voice is terrible.

  • @chloepeachesfy In this recording, it most certainly is... when i first heard it my response was "Ouch!!!". However, when she was in good form, she had quite a sweet voice indeed!!

  • To all Skeet Skeet MFer!

  • wow she was beautiful :o i wish i'd been born in the 50s or 60s ;)

  • @dreamtowngirl I was born in the forties and was bought up on this music.

  • Should be in fallout new vegas

  • very cool : )

  • Shame this beautiful song is diminished by this girl's lack of singing ability.

  • i love mad men, not only because of the great plot and actors. especially i love it because a 20-year-old guy like me gets the chance to discover these great songs like this one is. thanks don draper!
