First, capitalism is without a doubt an inequitable system (not the most, but inequitable enough), and not at all humanitarian. Capitalism is not concern either with equality nor with being humanitarian. Capitalism foments all sorts of differences (social, economical, political, etc), and there's nothing humanitarian about allowing your fellow human beings to rot just because they can't be as productive/lucky as you.

I understand when you interview somebody who's making a fool of themselves individually, but this is hardly objective.

I already said this once, nothing was even said at the general assembly about the $50,000, even when it was asked about. The general assembly I attended was a joke, not at all surprised he did not attend. Maybe 12-15 people attended the GA on the day the money was given out. The people who received the money had better stuff to worry about, like how they would use their newfound monetary power to do what they wanted. Gee isn't democracy swell?

@jwhitenstall in a free market there isn't a "committee" or group of "do gooders" who are expected to be completey selfless for the greater good (which is an impossible feat btw) A free market is simply individuals trading under property rights.

He doesn't participate because it's a joke. I spent last Saturday down there and we had already heard about the $50,000 donation. When they had their joke of a general assembly the question was asked "Where was this money? What was it going to be used for?" The person leading the GA shuffled his feet and said "Yeah, I've heard some scuttlebutt about that. Is anyone from the finance committee here? No, well we'll figure it out later." Crazy useless loiterers at this point.
