  • What did i do wrong lol? i tried this on my trainer and his legs followed me up and i got stuck in sort of a hand stand i kept trying to push through but i was just stuck in a hand stand until about 5 seconds then i gave up on it and wen't back into his gaurd?

  • Wouldn't it be easy for the guy in butterfly guard to butterfly sweep him?

  • @louiecollado If you don't compress his legs in, Yes.... Give it a shot. I think you'll be surprised.

    Thanks for watching!

  • GUYS. i am not a bad grappler myslef,

however guys you are good i admit all the stuff you say adn do is quite useful and very well explained.

    thank you again

  • thx... this looks good

  • This was shown by Marcelo Garcia in his DVD series.

  • very nice

  • sweet pass, gonna try that in next class

  • quick question. how effective would it be to control one of the ankles, and then kick over? using your right hand, reach between the hip and ankle, and control his right ankle. i'm not very flexible, agile, or fast, and i'm not sure if the ankle control modification would help.

  • Different pass- but also effective. There's not just 1 right way to pass. If it works for you- stick with it.

  • its that type of thinking that makes a great fighter man but i think that if you did that they can counter with certain arm sweeps, plus it requires a lot of strength (pulling his leg down with your arm), if you had a killer grip and were quick...it might just work. But i dunno...gotta try it and let me know.

  • I think alot of guys do a "modified" version of the donkey pass - ie. kick your leg(s) up, and hope for the best !

Personally, I like trapping 1 leg to the mat, freeing my opposite leg from the hook, sliding my far shin over, and going to side mount.

  • Awesome pass for the Buttefly Guard...This is good because alot of beginners dont know many good ways to pass this dynamic guard...MUCH LOVE FROM NALEDGE & ~DIESEL BJJ~

  • true! I know like seven or eight ways to break open and pass the closed guard but almost nothing about how to pass a decent open guard. (I generally try to just get posture, control their legs, and stand up and back. I get swept a lot. ;)

    Thanks for posting.
