U need the fiskars splitting axe, that looks like the fiskars chopping axe(which I have) the head isn't heavy enough to split some rounds.

Strikes with no force and dangerous position. Axe seems to be ok, buut his legs are in great danger.

Her technique is fine. It looks a bit unorthodox but she is making clean and accurate splits. If she were to miss then her follow through would go into the ground because she bends her knees. We don't all have to do things the same. People used to punch with just the arms and then people stopped following the rules and used their shoulders, hips and legs to make the punch better.

But I winced when you hit metal to metal though. Get a big wooden mallet please.

@pnfcrac I don't know if a wooden mallet would do all that much in this situation. Besides, it's just a stupid fiskars axe, nothing special. A screwed up poll is not the end of the world.

but the way she splits is really dangerous

she swings the axe side ways if she missen the wood she will hit her knees.

and if you hammer on an axe the axe wil change his chape and makes the steel weak

then you destroy you axe.

if you think you got to do it that way. then your wrong you destroy your fiskars splitting axethat way you never got to hit your axe in to the wood with a hammer. And if you want to hit than you have to spread your legs. If you don't do that you can cut your legs in half.

Get a good V shaped maul, and let the weight of the maul do all the work. You just set it in the right direction, and it will split about anything. The head weighs about 8 lbs. P.S. don't worry about the mean comments, they are sitting on the couch eating potato chips not doing anything.

my god never hit an axe with a sledge just flip the log over and use its own weight against the axe head to split it by hitting the whole thing on the splitting block. and its an axe not a baseball bat.swing it like an axe

Ich möchte das noch mal gerne tun, holzhacken!! Fruher vor 30 jahre hätte ich noch eine holzkachel, ich hab immer gern das holzgehackt es ist auch ein bisl sport. Und wen mann for dem feuer liegt mit ein gutes bier.... mensch du füllst dich gut!!!

You don't know the first thing about even grabbing the axe. Go make videos about some other subject, man. If someone tries to learn from you he might get hurt...

NOOOOOO......Not the dreaded sledgehammer it peens over the steel and will eventually throw a shard. Next time use a large wooden baton. Or just keep checking the ax head and file off the peened over part before it gets to dangerous.
