I disagree- looping and delay are two drastically different pedals. Looping records a phrase and plays it over and over again. Delay simply listens to what you're playing and plays it back after a delay- not over and over, just once. Delay is harder to use, but if used right creates a neat two-voiced effect.

Actually they are very different. They have similar concepts behind them, but different functions. A Delay gives short repeats of every note played. A Looper can recreate a "phrase" and play that phrase back to you. A phrase is more like unto a bar of music, as compared to a delays single note.

If you want to play over yourself (lay down a pad and then play a lead) get a looper. If you want to give your notes added texture and interest get a delay.

I believe electric violins enable looping and recording (as he does here with the looping) and also have a larger range and sound different due to how they're made. This one is much thinner than a typical violin.
