  • hes 7th dan now hes awsome and andy sherry 8th dan their AWSOME im in lucan karate club :)

  • cool

  • amazing instructor. true legend

  • Hes amazing i have him for my gradings!

im having one in too weeks time!

  • he's a great instructor he has taught me before the grading

  • Amazing skills!

  • head kicks ARE possible in the streets as long as ur not wearing tight jeans or something

  • my senior instructor and legend i have had meals wit him after gradings one of the nicest men on the earth! mr karate!

  • frank brennan = shotokan legend

  • i believe headkicks are possible in the street ,i believe everyone who says "they can do it " ,i feel i can ,without a warm up , but think of all the streetfights youve seen/been in ....how many headkick ko,s did you see??? i wager not many if any ...

  • It's a matter of opportunities, if you get the chance to throw a good inside mawashi-geri go for it, if you get a good chance for a yoko-geri go for that as well, headkicks might not be commonly used but that might depend on the fact that most streetfights are closeups, good luck trying to throw a ko-kick from a distance of 1m - 1.5m. But possible? Hell yeah

  • possible !!?? yes i agree, during the heat of battle , unllikely !! i think most people will agree with me that few fights they witnessed contained headkicks, however great they look and hard we trained for them , how proud we are when they look and feel good, i have thrown leg kicks during fights but more for closing distance , i recall one fight 20plus yrs back, outside college, with headkicks ,it was spectacular though !!!lol

  • Obviously you didn't get my point, "unllikely !! i think most people will agree with me that few fights they witnessed contained headkicks" - that's irrelevant. As I stated, any fight is all about opportunities, you do what you can when you can.

  • Those last two clips are from Calgary at the first WSKA Championships. He broke his brothers nose pretty good that weekend. I was sitting ringside on the ushiro mawashi at the end. Great fight!

  • He grades me and is amazing at karate

  • lol at the judge at 17 seconds =P

  • great! real karate....

  • 0:44 ... outch!

  • looks impressive, but flashy high kicks are ok in a hollywood movie. not useful in the street when you are cold and wearing normal clothes.

  • youve put that same comment on all of these vids! i get the sense you are unhappy with your time training in shotokan?

personally, i can kick over my own height warmed up or cold. as can nearly all of the people i train with.

  • i had the same conversation with someone today. I totally agree with you, If you are good at kicking then no problem with kicking to the head - do it. The leg is heavier and stonger than a fist. If you think it is slower then you are shit at kicking. People still knock folk out with kicks to the head in the UFC. But then in real life, who are you most likely to fight with in the streets? Usually a drunk or some chav/ned who can't punch their way out a wet paper bag.

  • Why can't I kick to the head in the street with normal clothes on? You walk around limiting your options and you'll be surprised. I can/wiil/have successfully kicked to the head in the street and off of it. I'm fed up of hearing about this 'fabled street' where all normal rules are null and void. It's all about decision making.

  • Frank's "normal street clothes" must be ass-tight rocker jeans he still wears from the 1980s.

  • have u ever been hit by one of those kicks?these guys are controlling all hits, one of those can certainly kill you if intended.

  • None of those kicks are flashy, and you most certainly CAN kick to the head in the street. If the head kick is there, and you're not wearing tight jeans, why not take it? Its great for knockouts. Oss

  • @njtr: his ushiro mawashi geri was pretty damn flashy, loved it.

  • The best British Kumite fighter ever. Timing, speed, balance, strategy, courage, committment. He makes me sick! A real one off in my book.

  • who ever elses does karate add me :d im going for brown and white belt on 7th of november ;)

  • woo!! thats 1 of my sensei's that take my gradings :D and andy sherry to :P

  • WOW whats this about him joining the Red Triangle at the age of 14 when he trained at Kirkby Karate club under the tuition of Billy Christhall not Andy Sherry, I know coz I trained with him...

  • Nice one mate I used to train at Picton Road with Jimmy Brennan too. Awesome teacher :) Congrats on your belt!

  • Thanks, for the comment senseideano. And yes, Brennan brothers are really awesome!!.

  • jim brennan is my teacher(franks brother) and i got frank as one of my graders the other day and i got an orange belt

  • The only negative thing I could say about Frank Brennan is that he set the standard so high he was in a class of his own.
