omg how do you know what my political interests are, all you're doing is venting on the worng person & bringing up everything u can that's been building up inside ur hateful lil body.grow up. build a bridge & get over it. if u have an issue here's a tissue. politics, slavery, war, crime, racism, prejudice, lynchings, murder.LOL what else r u going to throw in. funny how u left out the fact that rival tribes sold their prisoners to the eurpeans in the 17th,18th & 19th centuries.talk about biased beliefs
who are my ppl exactly?stop with the racial generalizations.my family came here in the 1890's so no we didn't own slaves it was abolished in the 1860's in the event u don't know this.as I said your violent threats are being reported you're a sad excuse for a human & bring shame upon your own ppl.stop perpetuating the stereotypes & ppl will not frown upon what you have displayed here.weirdo.so now you're intollerant towards homosexuals?wow you hate evry1,not surprised.smile u'll be happier
@bobbybluz1 I am impartial to slavery my family didn't arrive till 30 years after it ended so stop using it as a crutch & "blame gaming" btw pal ur the racist one here, & have displayed much aggresion & hate. hater! shame on you. wtf does the prez have anything to do here, you're all over the place yet again w/o a valid statement. "YOU STOLE" I have not stolen anything so cease w/ ur false accusations. now you threaten me with physical violence. grow up btw u will be reported. enjoy
@bobbybluz1 now please cease contacting me, all you're doing is looking for a positive in a negative situation. but ppl like you are right even when their wrong. stubborn, arrogant & replete with braggadocio.
sorry I do perform but I'm not a braggart & this is not up for debate seeing how it yet again is something irrelevant but you wish to continually resurface this area. "fell prey to the evils of cocaine abuse" someone must have forced this misfortune upon him, lol. he was responsible for his own actions, this is no excuse or scapegoat from reality. not all musicians need drugs baby. enjoy
that's very astute of you, how can you expect anyone to understand you in a serious capacity when you can 't spell properly? you're 60 years old, act like it." At 60 I've have forgotten more about music and drugs than you'll ever know" talk about self righteousness....lol so eddie murphy uses profanity so this means you can? 2 wrongs make a right? yet again eddie has nothing to do with this what so ever, completely irrelevant & with no validity, once again.
funny how ppl who do drugs get more praise "forgetting" about it rather than the ppl who live an entirely clean life. bravo, talk about a bassackwards society with their priorities severely misappropriated
@oldschoolcrate I'm a (relatively) young guy, but I know you're right, there is a difference between a club and a ballroom. People used to dj's wouldn't know about live bands unless they read about them.
I can't post a link, but go to google and put in : george edick club imperial. and you can see more footage of ike's first gig's in st. louis. right before he discovered a young lady by the name of : anna mae bullock.
Ok. Here's the deal on this. This is George Edick's Club Imperial. Located on West Florrisant and Goodfellow in North St. Louis. This film is from 58'-59'. That is most likely, George Edick hosting the show at the Club. I am good friends with george's son Greg Edick who is an Incredible bass player that has toured w/ Chuck Berry and The Rolling Stones. The building is still standing and used as a club and (pardon the phrase) Ballroom. I grew up in St. Louis and I hope this clears the air.. thanks
Ike is the drug abusing ,talent draining of their spouse by introducing them to drugs because of jealousy due to their spouse having more talent than him & physically abusing the spouse bobby brown of the 1950's-60's. he met his maker btw ric james is an abducting/torturing anus also, when he would torture women on a crack binge. "CRACK IS WHACK!"
@bobbybluz1 you speak towards me as though I don't understand music history. btw profanity displays lower intelligence, usually when someone can't conjure anything of value they do this. why are you being so abusive & profane with your onslaught? funny thing is you didn't dispute the bobby brown or ric james thing lol, thank you & enjoy.
@bobbybluz1 "How many recordings are you on?" how more off topic could you get, this has nothing to do with the price of tea in china. so no one can speak of his personal life unless they themselve record music? lol that's how much sense that makes lol you daft fool. phil spector lol another reputable name g/j. LOL
This is great. Always was a Bobby Darin fan, but he copied this almost note for note. And I could go on for days about how sadly under rated Ike Turner was..RIP
@christophergenovese maybe he will rest in the same peace that he cause while striking women in anger. a fine deserving solace indeed. your rip is misappropriated
Also, I believe the father of Tina's firstborn, Craig, is the sax player at the right, Raymond Hill, who was her boyfriend before she got involved with Ike.
@reginahumbard That's correct... Tina was with Raymond Hill and had her first son with him, however, their relationship ended when he broke his ankle and had to move back to Mississippi. She raised her son as a single Mother until she and Ike developed a romantic relationship in 1960 and she had their son Ronald in 1961. Ike and Tina were married in 1962. Tina left in 1976 and the divorce was finalized in 1978.
I love the eye roll Ike gives the host at :44 after he calls Jimmy Thomas a "boy". And the tone in his voice when he says "splish-splash" indicates a bit of offense to my ear. I think seeing how diminutive Ike is provides some context to the physical abuse of Tina that relative giant Lawerance Fishburn did not bring to the role.
@Vintage1976 sho-nuff, I was nine years old and I thought Bobby Darrin was the first to record this song, that's why I like movies like "Dream Girls" and "Cadillac Records" tells us what went on back then.
@cassieann1000 Cadillac Records was extremely inaccurate. I know this as a fact. I was Hubert Sumlin's driver and guitar tech for several years. The stuff about Wolf, Muddy and Hubert was total bullshit, that's not what really happened. The Little Walter portrayal was fantasy as well. I also know the actual musicians that did the soundtrack and have performed will all but Kim Wilson.
Splish splash was written and recorded by Bobby Darin in 1958 so this couldn't be 1954. A little research by me suggests this was from a local St Louis TV show aired in 1959.
to 'sweetgee2001'-listen dickhead, jimmy thomas was 15 when this was filmed, making him a boy.. it was not a racaist comment and most 15 year old singers who go on tv would probably stil get called a boy by the presenter
Naw, it's racist, and I seriously don't think that an African American performer would be referred to as a "boy" by anyone on television today, no matter how young they are, it's just not politically correct.
Actually I must correct myself again although the Nat King Cole Show had not aired until 56 he I do believe had appeared on national TV prior to 56. If not please prove it...
Wrong. The Treniers, one of the first R&B groups who sang proto rock were on white tv in May of 1954, appearing on the Colgate Comedy Hour with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. But I agee, this video is from 1958 or thereafter because Bobby Darin and Murray the K did not write the song until 1958.

I Don´t think this is 1954.
All the "Characters" like "Good Golly miss Molly", "Lollipop" and "Peggy Sue" had not yet been sang by other artitst wich been not known yet on 1954.
In other Facts, No Black Musician could never ever appeare in a White Musicshow on 1954.
That Times it was not accepted by the white Audience.
