  • So then you would say from your experience , that variations of push ups are the best or at least totally adequate exercises to develop pectorals and upper body strength ? I have been using mostly light weight training along with regular push ups and have seen no real results in my muscle strength or size in the past months I have been training .

  • one of my favorites is getting some crappy dumbells... you know, the ones where you slip on the weights (and they spin freely). then basically get in pushup position, with weights touching, then slowly let the weights roll out (arms extended, chest going towards ground), then roll the dumbells back in, as if you were in a pec dec sorta.... it's really hard to do, but it's a fantastic workout.....

  • Hey, I have a problem with having weak and creaky (I don't know if this is the right word) shoulders so I have a really tough time doing push-ups. Anything I can do with weights? They don't seem to be as much of a strain.

Well my issue is that im 15, im 1,75 and weight 62kg so yeah..i alwys do press with dumbells and i vary the forms of the excercise, and weighs, that is wahy i do at home, i do also pushups. I do this 3 or 4 times a week to give my pecs some rest. i notice some changes but when are this changes going to be more notorious, i got like the mayor pectoralis well developed, and the lower less.

    Nah, if you mean the part of your back next to your shoulder blade then it's your Lat. If you mean the bit on the opposite part of your arm as your bicep, That is your tricep. The best way to build triceps is either tricep dips when you don't have equipment or pulldowns if you do. As for lats, pullups is the best way. I hope this helps, man.

  • do you have to work out all your chest? i mean like i do incline and flat bench with dumbells etc and barbell, but am i ment to do the bottom of the chest? because not much people do that

  • just coz many people don't workout their lower chest doesn't mean u don't need to do it. it helps ur chest look bigger tho

  • well ill avoid the night time because my heart isnt in a great shape, have a disease from my mother's side. so pumping in night time defintley doesnt go well with me. but i supose that exercising in night time is good if it gives you motivation to get up the next day and go to fitness without saying "Oh man im gonna be exhausted again"

  • i've been told that it isnt good for the body... i heard it from a doctor that did the surgery on me and he's a really skilled one so i belive him... he's the only doctor i ever did belive anyways because he's honest. dunno if its true or not but i try to avoid exercising in the evening.

  • If I just do 50 push ups a night and a little ab exercise, is drinking like a portien shake gonna be a bad idea? I don't do the whole "tough workout" for hours. Just a few things at night. Would a shake help speed results along? I have an average/skinny build and just want to add pecs/ arms muscles. Anything I could be doing more?

  • and dont exercise in night time, its bad for your heart... your body is calming down at that time because it knows its time to sleep, if you pump iron at that time then you're not doing any good.

  • thts untrue, your heart would be beating the same time lets say at 9 at night as it would at 10 in the morning (based on doing the same activity lets say watching TV) and also mentioned if your have heart problems maybe weight lifting is not very advisable because of the intensity and strain but thts just my thought.

  • Exactly - your heart rate doesn't slow down until you're actually asleep - working out at night makes no difference at all - let's say you worked out at 7 pm for an hour and go to bed at 10 - it doesn't take two hours for your heart to return to its resting rate - whoever that doctor was he was talking out of his aorta.
