I woke up to one that stung me last night on my ring finger. I think jumped out of bed... thinking it was a dream and found it... and killed it with a ceramic mug. I have never gotten stung by anything and this is the worst. The pain is still there two hours later.
The sci name for those is pseudouroctonus reddelli, they don't hurt as bad as the lighter colored ones around Austin, Centruroides vittatus. Just giving you names you can google.
My fam lives in the hill country just outside san antonio, my mom got stung changing the sheets one day, we've lived there about 2 years and prb killed about 10-15 scorpions in that time, thankfully not deadly, just a minor discomfort
Damn, I've never knew they stung like, quicker than the eye. A bunch of defensive punches.
