In this day and age, a game like that would not pass for being "just like the arcade," but in the early 80s when you couldn't put a lot of memory and CPU power on an inexpensive home console, that's what they came up with. A commedian I saw once talked about the cool graphics on the box where the football game looks like a cracker running across the screen.
Aw, man, I'd been thinking about that commercial for literally decades, but only now thought to look it up on Youtube! "Luther destroys the gond!" "Heh-heh-heh-heh!"
I wonder were luther is today?...Oh well...Vanguard was a pretty good game, the version for the Atari 260 did much better than the video aracde version. Atari and other video game companies such as Coleco, would somtimes take unpopular aracde games and then release them for there video game systems, somthimes making the game an instant classic.

You are so high. The Atari 2600 version of Vanguard is not better than the arcade version. Popular or not, the arcade version had more detail and scrolled in more directions.
I'm going to have to make another video or dig one out. In the meanwhile, here are more Atari 2600 games for the other viewers:
When I said the Atari 2600 version of Vanguard did better I meant in game sales (Not graphics or game play), although the Atari 2600 version did have pretty good graphics for its hardware, the Colecovision and the Aracde version ovoiusly had better graphics.
vanguard is here! lets rip off flash the movie.

XD Ahh, the '80s — when video game commercials were so bad they were rad. :D

except for The Legend of Zelda's commercials — they just sucked.
Zelda II's commercials were a little better, though
