Been listening to Leon for 40 years; 'discovered' him in Concert for Bangladesh, and have admired his music ever since. This has always been my favorite; it was apropos in 1972 and it still is today; a musical evergreen from a musical genius.
In the 60's, Leon used to be a session player on Sharon Sheeley (Eddie Cockran's girlfriend) demos in LA. I learned so much from them. Good old days! Thanks for posting!
I've always loved this song, and I seldom comment on videos (unless it's to bash people for wasting my time and showing their ignorance) but I had to let you know , this was fantastic. Wonderful job!
Leon is one reason I want SO BADLY to go back to the 70's. One of the most underrated artists of all time. WOW! What talent! I hope you get into The Hall of Fame, brother.
This is one of the greatest songs of all time. But why on earth did it not chart? :(
I'm pretty sure it is, but it might be someone else with the same name. I'll have to try to nail that down for sure. He's the only don Preston I know about and the keyboard parts do sound like him, the synth parts.
Ah..YES, The "GRAND" Leon RUSSELL! Been -a- While! Jus' before turnin' in last evenin' I heard this Great "Inspired" Song Again in my old 57-year old Head. I remembered when my pal and I had the honour of Meeting the Great Man after His concert at the Old Atlanta Auditorium, MAN ,he was even taller than when he was seated @ the Stineway Grand! This 'dude' has come a "far-piece" from the 'Keyboardist' of "GARRY Lewis and the Playboys"(c.1964-66!) YES the song, it rings EVEN truer now!
Usually i just watch these videos for the song and put up with the slideshow but this was a VERY well done video. Many props to you my obviously-hippie friend.
God I love this song! I first heard it when I was around 12. My older brothers used to play the Concert for Bangladesh album on the stereo. The gospel singers positively give me goosebumps! Thanks :-)
Oh, what a sad state we're in

"shares the simple secret with the wise men"
'shares a bed of hay with a burro in the palace of the kingdom"
Hmmm...WHO could Leon be talking about WAY BACK THEN?
'Do you recognize the bells of freedom when you hear them ring?'
