It was definitely a change from the traditional happy ending. For that I definitely give it credit. I take umbrage with the way it plays out by creating a false climax before the ending. False climaxes are generally considered bad scripting. Thanks for watching.

This film would have been the best of all time if it wren't for the ending. It sbould have ended with the Mist (or rather the monsters) killing David at the end. the fact that the military killed the monsters and destroyed the mist means that they prevented Armegeddon. Not cool, I wanted to see the end of the world.

They did not destroy the mist, they just shut down the dimensional doorway. The mist was just a mixture of the two different atmosphere where all the monsters poured out from. The doorway had to be HUGE because look at that big creature!

I wonder how they took that one out?

It was never explicitly explained in the film - so we have to draw those conclusions on our own. Perhaps we shall see a direct to DVD sequel that will flesh out the military's dealings with the Mist and its inhabitants.

I'm basing my judgment on viewing this film on the big screen. As such - the early CGI - such as the tentacles - was very bad. It looked cartoony bad - or the "seam was showing" - as I like to say. As the film went on - the CGI improved exponentially with the final monsters looking spectacular.

And yes - I am crazy.

I read The Mist from Stephen King's short story from his collection of short stories in the book The Skeleton crew. The film is a good adaptation but in the book at the end they drive into the Mist and you dont find out what happens to them. They dont kill themselves.

I loved the movie and found zero parts annoying. It played out perfectly, especially that tragic and awesome ending.

Even though some things were annoying the film is definitely worth watching.

What I liked was:

-The concept (many layers like for example showing mechanisms that lead ppl to fanatism in times of fear)

- The creatures - the world of very original, well-animated creatures

- elements of suspense

- role of Marcia Gay Harden

- the set and all the graphic parts

- reference to Starwars :)

- the last scenes and the ending

that wouldn't be good. It was an absolute ending and in my opinion it is absolutely impossible to make a good sequel. Another thing is that every sequel of a King-movie is rubbish. Have a look at the "Children of the Corn"-movies... the first one was ok but the others were absolutely stupid.
