  • Hi miss vee. So i have an annoying problem with this scarf. I've made 4 successfully without yarn tangling, however 5 and six are not as forgiving. is there anything you think i could be doing that i need to stop before i pounds and pounds of yarn on fire out of sheer frustration. Thank you so much mel

  • @1pro07 10 times and yes you can use two if you like.

  • @MsVcharles Thanks! I'm definitely going to try this out.

  • Thanks for posting this... You'd think with my many years of crocheting i would've done this... I just made two in less than an hour.... GreenYellow&Black.. My first one was a chain of 1,800

  • hi my name is chloe .as you can see im shea's daughter and you doin pretty good for someone who just started, i crochet too and i also just started 2 years ago.

  • @sheadjones Well thank you Chloe! But I didnt just start, I learned how to crochet when I was in middle school...about 19 years ago. =)

  • @MsVcharles Oh lawd, my lil rugrat has invaded your video....lol! She loves you Vee!

  • Alright, so I'm watching this and start jotting down the sets of three colors that I'm going to use to make a few of these. I love th black, grey and white, but I also jot down black, purple, and blue (my 3 favorite colors). Guess what other color scarf you show at the end of the video? Small world, lol. Made my day.

  • Greetings! I just found your channel via the caloboration Christmas video. This is a great tutorial! I also crochet and make these scarves. They are the easiest and very fashionable. Excellent job!

I wonder how it would look in green, white, and brown?

  • Great tutorial as always!!!! I will be making these for my coworkers for Christmas!!

  • woohoo! just made one...i am officially a crocheting home skillet! :D

  • Ms. V.... why have I been crocheting this scarf for three hours and it isn't done yet?! I saw in comment below that it should only take 30-45 minutes? Maybe I'm doing it too tight?

  • @TrustinNGod For me personally it took about 30 mins. Now depending on your experience with crochet it will be different. Also you only need enouch rope around your neck about 10 times. I hope that helps. =)

  • @MsVcharles Thanks for responding. The scarf turned out beautifully, I think a few factors may have made the difference...1. the store didn't have the 9 MM hook, so I settled for 6.5 MM 2. i noticed at the beginning i was crocheting pretty loose (the first ten) afterwards it was really tight 3. I ended up with the rope going around my neck 22 times :) thanks for the tutorial!

  • Thank you so much for this video!!!

  • @160Days2Lose2 No prob sis!

  • What kind of yarn did you use???

  • I've always wanted to learn how to crochet. i got a ton of yarn and needles at home... now i can go back and try this out during the winter break :) thanks MsV.

  • This tutorial was very easy to follow once I figured out how to do it left handed. I made this scarf which is now a neckline filler because I did it too short.

  • Girrrrrl.... That is soooo creative! I've gots to try this. Thanks for taking the time to make a vid.

  • "and you are a crocheting home skillet" lol Thank you so much for this video! I made a rope scarf a couple years ago, but boy did I choose the most difficult way!

  • @MsVCharles thanks for the how to vid on the rope scarf. I was so excited to try it out and bought yarn and the crochet hook the next day... I have to say though, I was having a hard time with the pace of making the rope scarf, that darn hook was annoying, so what do I do...I started to finger crochet the rest and it turned out just as nice. Thumbs up on the vid.

  • Hey Miss. Vee!! I had to come in & tell you what I did to your scarf. I took it to the next level girl!!

I used 6 yarns in shades of cream, purple & lavender & I worked the chain until the balls of yarn were almost entirely used. I just left enough at each end for tying off. THEN, I made a chain out of the chain!! It's soooo warm & it only took about 6 hours!! I'm ordering some yarn to make another one tomorrow in other shades!! I used a 20mm hook.

Thanks again and much love girl!!

  • I love the tutorial you did. You make it seen so easy and not confusing at all. I'm going to attempt to make this scarf this week. Thanks V!..

  • I Love this V... I will be trying this in the very near future :)

  • aww i dont think i have a needle this big, where did you get yours? also im thinking christmas gifts! ty

  • @redblaze82 You can find them at WalMart and your local craft stores.

  • I am doing this today! Love it.

  • Have you ever made a hat? If so can you do a video??..I love this!!

  • @BBzCoilyWool Yes I have

  • Do you knit as well as I would die for a knitting one of this as I only own knitting needles

  • I love this! And it's perfect for me because the chain stitch is the only crochet stitch I know! Can't wait to get some yarn and a needle! Thanks so much for being so helpful as always.

  • Well just 'GO AHEAD' and do your thing lady!!!! I am soooo Godly proud of you girl, another favorite to be added to my many favs here on YT!!! Thanks, will try it one day.

  • Thank you soooooo much for this video. I went to the store got my yarn and needle, looked at your video to make sure I was following the steps and made myself a rope scarf. I wore it today and of course my girlfriend saw it, liked it and asked were I got it from. I told her that I made it and now wants me to made her one.

  • I'm making mine now!!! Thanks V, I've been saying I want to learn how to crochet for a while!!!

  • This was such an easy tutorial to follow V. I cannot wait to buy some yarn and crotchet needles and try this out.

  • thanks this is now xmas gifts

  • How much yarn do you use on average? I made a small one to see if I could do it and I want to make a bigger one, but I don't want to use up ALL my yarn for the scarf lol.

  • @MissLoe8908 ALL your yarn will deff be too much. You only need enouch chains to loop the chain around your neck about 10 times.

  • @MsVcharles Yaay! My first trial was about a 6.5 looper, the second one was about an eight. This blue and white one i'm making will be about 10.5-11 loops. Thanks for the info!

  • I'm make this tonight. I can't wait. Oohh wweee thta scarf is too cute

  • Bahahahahaha!!!! "for your big ol heads!" i can't wait to make this.

  • Hey, nice scarf, just a heads up try using Lion Brand yarn. The red heart itches and will make your hair fall out. Lion Brand is much softer. Happy crafting!

  • THAT'S AWESOME. I DID SINGLE ROPE CROCHETS WHEN I WAS LIKE 10 BUT HADN'T DID IT SINCE THEN..MANY YEARS AGO BUT HAVE BEEN WANTING SOME BERET HATS. THIS IS A GREAT WAY FOR A SCARF..I'M DEFINITELY GOING TO GET BACK INTO IT. GREAT TUTORIAL!

  • Oh my goodness! This is great! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am definitely going to create this scarf for me and my little ones.

  • You wore a scarf in a video maybe a year ago??? I can't seem to locate it. It was a light brown or tan colored scarf? Can you PLEASE do a tutorial on that one? I LOVED it. Thanks in advance.

  • Approximately how many feet was the rope before you combined it to loop around your neck (hope this makes sense)? Did you use just about all of the yarn? Beautiful! Thanks

  • Thank you. I asked a relative to show me how to crochet but she hasn't yet. Now I can go ahead and get started. My goal is to learn how to make a blanket.

  • Hey V. I love to crochet as well. I do lots of craft shows around this time of year and I was looking for another quick and cool project. About how many chains did you do, or how many feet would you say i should chain, roughly?

  • OMG, YES! Totally making one of these ASAP! &I love your hair in this video. Your puff looks so big. :D

  • Awsome Demo! Please make more scarf videos.

  • I definitely will be doing this....its so much easier!! Thanks!

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • Yay! Now I have to get some different colored yarn. Everytime I try to crochet a scarf, I put it down and never pick it back up to finish. This is perfect!

    Thank you!

  • Girllll, I did not know you liked to crochet!!! I taught myself earlier this year and now I'm teaching myself how to knit! Please share more vids...gotta make me a rope scarf or 3 or 4!

  • @caprimomx2 Since I was about 12 years old. =)

I going to teach myself knitting as well. Just saw a vid and the stitching is very simple. Once you know one the other is a breeze.

  • @MsVcharles Yeah, knitting is a bit simpler than crochet in that sense but it stresses me out because of how easy it is to unravel rows and rows by dropping a stitch. Luckily, that can be fixed with a crochet hook :)

  • Ms. V, you are just full of information. I've been wanting to crochet for quite a while and now you have given me my start. Thanks!! This is yet another video that I will be saving to favorites, although it's coming to the point where your whole video library are favorites :) Thanks again!

  • I can do this!

  • My head ain't that big...lmao...great video

  • Thanks! I just hand knit by first rope scarf, but I want to try this method as as soon as I buy some more yarn. What type of yarn did you use and what weight was it?

  • @Mikou71 Cool! In the beginning of the video I show that I am using the Red Heart brand yarn.

  • @MsVcharles I meant the material, but I just Googled Worsted and discovered that it refers to the type & weight of the yarn. Sorry. I'm a newbie to crocheting.

  • ''...how wide our opening should be for our big ole heads'' lol Thanks for the tut and I agree with dreamsatsea's top comment keep up the great work Ms.V :)

  • girl this is just what I was looking for! i am starting a knitting/crochet circle and this is a fun first project! thnx and please do more crochet tutorials!

  • will you be showing us more tuts on how you make different scarfs

  • @CCEDENISE With all the request I am getting it looks like I should start making plans for that...lol

  • Just finished my 1st rope scarf...per your instructions. Took about 30 mins; I used turquoise, brown and beige. I modified your design a little and secured my "circle" a little larger (from neck to belly button) so that I can wear it multiple ways. I've found 3 so far... simply how you did it; doubled, like you would a pearl necklace and (without putting head thru circle) wrap the scarf around the back of your neck and "thread" one end thru the other at the base of your chin. Thank you!

  • @fox1908 Nice! I may have to try that tmw.

  • AWESOME!!!!!! Buying yarn this weekend!!!!!! YEAH!

  • I absolutely adore you and your videos! Thank you for all the information!

  • @LaRae113 No problem at all! =)

  • Zomgoodness!! I must try this!! It looks great and so much fun lol. I love it!

  • So...uh yeah , you're pretty much the coolest person in the world right now...just saying... ^_^

  • @ChloeCharleslovesyoo LOL...cool beans!

  • You give the best tutorials. I tried to figure this out myself and did it the HARD way. it took me hours. smh. Thanks!!!

  • @UniQueMaSterPiecE1 Oh wow...this should only take about 30-45 mins. Im about to make some more...start on my Christmas gifts...lol

  • fantastic looks like i have found wat all the lady members of my fam are getting for xmas xx

  • Sweet thanks

  • Ok....u r just 2 much for me!!!!! U crochet too??? I swear I wanna be like u when I grow up (I'm 40)!!!;)

  • @MsVcharles Lol I ran up my stairs and have already started!! Pink, cream, pink

  • Thank you!!! xox

  • Love the camera work again. thanks for taking care of all of us!

  • @mrsburnett8 Sorry but I do not have a mini twsti tutorial.

  • u made that look so simple...is the other kind of crocheting this easy?

  • @grandeuress Yes, many of the other stitch work in crocheting is very simple. Though I have never knitted before, looking at the stitch work, it is very simple to follow along with it as well. No matter what you crochet you have to know how to "chain stitch". From there you can easily pick up other works.

  • OMG!!!! thanks home skillet, I am def. gonna make this

  • the chain stitch is about the only stitch I know how to do... I may try this

have you ever added a piece of jewelry to your scarves.... like a brooch? I like a little bling ; thanks for the idea

  • @arl10144 Once you know how to chain you can pick up anything. They all have different names but the movement is pretty much the same.

Yes, I do add pendants to my scarves as well.

  • OMG!!! I love to crochet but I always have problems making scarves. I can make a blanket but not a scarf...smh. I'm so making this like right now!!!! Thanks home skillet! :o)

  • @riahtrin Haha this is too funny. Well when you are creating your scarves make sure that you are counting. Counting is the key to excellent stitch work.

  • Wow you made that look so easy! i always thought crocheting was difficult but i guess not when it comes to scarfs. im on my way to walmart now thanks. ;)

  • @girlb0t Scarves, blankets, hats...they are all pretty simple. As I just stated before, counting is the key when it comes to crochet.

  • This is very nice. I love to crochet too!

Have you heard of or tried crochet braids? It's not a scarf or anything. It's a way to protect your hair. You can use a crochet hook or a latch hook. YouTube it and you'll find lots of videos. I tried it and I like it!

  • @BloominLotus85 Yes, I have heard of them and actually I used to do them myself when I was in High School (about 13 years ago). Crochet braids have come a long way since then. =)

  • Thank you...I always wanted to know how to make these.
