  • This song was my first introduction to Kraftwerk, and have loved it ever since.

  • A timeless classic

  • classic

  • kraftwerk its briliant in a way that you dont know they are the first that cares about us and about ours futures they are the masters of ours workplaces

  • People say Kraftwerk were the predecessors of techno. Is this true?

  • @adventure09 - They were a heavy influence on dance music full stop, way ahead of their time.

  • @adventure09 yes

  • Teutonic titans of synth

  • @twitchyfeet really, check out Jean Michel Jarre;)

  • @grasnes erm lost my reply somewhere grrr i said i might check him out again and it'd better be good!!!

  • inspired ny the beach boys, believe it or not.

  • A great band ahead of their time for sure...

  • Now that is what I call good sounds...

  • Thank you you tube, facebook & twitter for presenting this on my b'day. This is for all decades'.......evergreen

  • que saudades, que saudades

  • Thumbs up if facebook told you this was number 1 on your birthday

  • Para você amiga LADYCRIS :)

  • your all tools

  • <3

  • the syth is like this too me *blows my mind while having a eargasm*

  • @MrFrEaKyScOpE u nerd. This is rubbish electronic music.

  • @ElectronicMusicUK well excuse me this was made in the 70's with HANDMADE instruments and they started techno genres and sub genres now enjoy some techno by the Elders :)

  • @MrFrEaKyScOpE They didn't start it, keep tabs on my channel and you'll see why. This is German experimental electronic music and it's fuckin boring. Germans can't do great Jazz, funk, blues, Hip Hop etc like the Afro-Americans, nor Rock music like the Brits, so what do they do? They channel all their energy into electronic music, so where's the surprise their gonna come up with ideas? It still doesn't make their music any better, it's still bland. Leave electronic music to the UK & US.

  • @ElectronicMusicUK this is boring? LOL. you clown.

  • @roejogan8 yup, it's fricken rubbish and yer the joker if ya think otherwise, u smuck.

  • @ElectronicMusicUK Butthurt again, my friend?

  • @MSBollWeevil yer friend? Nah, u Kraftwerk nerds ain't got no friends, yer electronic noise stinks , man....

  • @ElectronicMusicUK haha, here we go again... I'm not sure if you've any friens or life in general. You keep leaving your feces mixed with blood on every krautrock-related video.

You might probably need to get a life

  • @MSBollWeevil Hahahahaa....this is my life, gimpyfish, I live to troll Kraftwerk's stuff....heehehhee.....so long, u time whore.

  • Dedykuje ta muzyke dla Cory Dawis!!!!!!!!! Palnal sobie w glowe

  • If you don't like it, fuck off and listen to Mozart or someone like that. Don't come on here acting superior because you favour classical music. The best of that stuff was made by people who died 200 years ago. What the fuck they used as synthesisers, beats the shit out of me. You just came here to act like a fucking snob. I'm not arguing about it either, you're a prick.

  • @bizzo142 fuckin snob? hahahahhah!!!

Go on, make love to your lovely Kraftwerk, see if I care....hehehehhe!!!

  • ElectronicMusicUK, you sound like an arrogant pom - or an imbecile Tory supporter. This might come as a shock to you, but the world does not evolve around your tiny little island - or the USA. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE music from GB, but to write off music from Europe or elsewhere smacks of arrogance. Ever heard of Mozart, Verdi, Bach, Pavarotti ? Well, they were European. Methinks you need a serious dose of modesty !!

  • @cytotoxix I've heard of Pavarotti, he was the fat bloke with a beard who sung opera songs, isn't he? As for the rest, never heard of 'em, were they 80's groups? This is pretty good for a German band, not as good as Gary Numan or The Human League though.I like The Scorpions and Father Abraham and The Smurfs too!

  • sorry that you said it was now it is . i acept that was the best now its somethings else

  • now wheres the loop play button??

  • I just got a Korg synthesiser for Christmas, I just had to learn this song <3

  • @KellyRebeccaSan you're very lucky. hope you do it justice. :)

  • Looking good Indeed!!!

  • bill baileys tribute to kraftwerk is awesome

  • can anyone guess, or does anyone know where their inspiration came from?

    (musically)

  • @betfairscassanova Yes! The French kicked it off with Varese in the 20s & 30s, then the Germans came along with Stockhausen. One of Tangerine Dream's (German) influences was the psychedelic stuff by Pink Floyd (UK). Kraftwerk were influenced by these people, but they gave the world their own style, which you either like or don't like (me!). There is no clear major influence on today's electronic music- everyone has something new to offer the world of electronic music. Best stuff : USA & UK.

  • I have to agree - Kraftwerk led the way into electronic music. Real pioneers.

  • @StonyRC sorry, mate, u left out the 1920s to 60s,Varese was the first. Kraftwerk's pioneering stuff is really only 1970s .The Afro-Americans brought electronic music to life - something the Germans couldn't do. The British have produced a wealth of great electronic music - on a par with the USA and second to none.

  • No. Sorry. The Germans beat the Brits when it came to electronica. I read somewhere that Kraftwerk were an inspiration to legendary 80's band Depeche Mode. Jean-Michel Jarre's music is too weird and irritating to digest, Vangelis's on the other hand, was SUBLIME. And then you get the kings of synthpop, AlphaVille, whose lyrics AND melodies are simply the best. Marion Gold, you beaut ...

  • @cytotoxix You have absolutely no clue do you. .Heehehehe. Depeche Mode aren't that great. Vangelis' stuff is wishy washy, Eno is the King of synth sounds. AlphaVille? you're joking, hehehehehee. The Germans are by and large rubbish at electronic music, Kraftwerk's stuff is innovative at times, eccentric at other times and down right dull, like this poncy tune.

This is the real ratings: USA & UK in joint 1st place, followed by the rest of the world, I wouldn't even put Germany in 2nd place.

  • @ElectronicMusicUK And yet this is the most recognisable and favoured of all synth music, since mister and mrs korg, made the beast with two backs.

  • @bizzo142 so fuckin what, the most recognisable classical music is usually rubbish, the best stuff, like Bach's Passacaglia & Fugue is unknown to most people. This music is pure ordinariness, I'm not arguing about it.

  • @ElectronicMusicUK ....you're not arguing about it ??? could have fooled me, you fucking pretentious twat.

  • @bizzo142 I only argue with naughty little kids like you. Just eat yer supper and shut up when it comes to electronic music!

  • @ElectronicMusicUK yeah, go on, back peddle away. Fucking tosser

  • @bizzo142 I said "EAT YER SUPPER. NOW!" No more Kraftwerk for you, until you learn to respect your superiors....yer fuckin grounded kiddo!

  • @ElectronicMusicUK lol. for a minute, there, i thought you were going be a bit of a challenge. Obviously i was mistaken, although you are challenged, and obviously inferior. Your last rant was amusing. Classical. lol

  • 1978 bylem z bratem nad j . powidzkim plynolem kiedy ta muzykae ktos wlaczyl?!To byl SZOK!

  • it's amazing listen to them with daddy next to me.. his eyes shine! may be totally nostalgic to him. *-*

  • When I first saw them on TV, all I saw was these 4 men with tea-trays and little boxes.

When they came out with this song, i couldn't stop listening.

  • I saw them mid 80`s and it was weird they just stood on stage pushing buttons pulling levers, they dressed and look all alike, It was very mechanized.

we were tripping and loved it.

I really liked Ohm Sweet Ohm

    cheers

  • I used too get soo high and listen to this stuff many years ago =]

  • @GhostsInMyAttic I did to,had long hair aswell, loved Kraftwerk,my brother had all there albums on vinyl.

  • gran exito ---me gusto mucho la cancion

  • Con la Porsche le uniche cose belle tedesche.w l"I T A L I A

  • Albini did a great job with this

  • The iconic song from the most iconic of electronic artists...and the pioneer that influenced the rest of us!

  • I came here because I was writing a paper for my history of music class on the development of edm... and I thought edm was all Avicii and Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia. This is something else! Damn. The beginning of everything, this is really great

  • @emh1209 Well actually it was Tangerine Dream , Jean Micheal Jarre , Pink floyd & popcorn , that started off edm not to mention Therymin in the 1930's so there you are , but KW 1st brought this out in 1978 , but did'nt catch on at the time , it did catch on in the grand old days of "Modern Romantics".

  • @Wad12br ..this was the first all around electro-dance hit.J.M.J. and T.D came slightly after and where more like ambient as for pink floyd where more as a rock jazz band...

  • pia esse toquinho e legal ate

  • Love it! Love it! Love it! And believe me I have Great taste..

  • to all of the 131 people who disliked this music. if you did'nt have such bad taste, you would'nt have any taste !

  • Pour les nostalgiques des belles années d'Arte (20 ans en arrière), ce morceau servait de générique à un bijou d'émission sur les films d'animation : Snark. Plus précisément, c'était la reprise faite par le Balanescu Quartet qui a servi de générique.

  • fantastic thanks ...

  • this song and album is so dope

  • mmm

  • OMG THIS SONG WAS the UBERSONG OF ITS TIME CLASSIC

  • CHRISTOPHER REEVES

  • @TheJulieann1978 Haha, you beat me to it.

  • Video clips like that stay indelibly stamped in memory.

Was a teenager when it came out and I first heard it.

  • Me too

  • because the current generation of tv is vanity and glamour and groups are judged by image and videos rather than music. Also without obligatory sex aspect or immorality ppl like mtv won't play it.

  • Gosh, there was a long time I have sought for this song that I heard from the soap Opera Os Ricos Também Choram broadcast by SBT Brazil. Neither the title I knew. I've found today.`Bons tempos da década de 1980. Amazing sound, nice song...

  • WHY DOESN'T MTV PLAY THIS TYPE OF MUSIC ANYMORE!!! I'M ONLY 21, AND ALL THE MUSIC I HEAR IS FUCKING SHIT COMPARED TO THIS!!! AHHHHHHHH FUCK.

  • Ahhh I remember this, I'd just started work when this was in the charts in the uk. What a great piece of music this is, and leaves me with very happy memories. Thanks for posting

  • Wow, people are right, this does sound like FF's Walk away o_o

  • cool!

  • non stop replay button!!!

  • lindo como eu

  • Kraftwerk were cutting edge in the 1970s and were always a cool group

  • Pure magic.

  • This is Tehno!

Not the shit it has become nowadays

  • @VMord indeed!!

  • German version is a lot better.

  • I say often that as a boy in the 70's I was tired of longhairs and their guitars. I wanted something DIFFERENT, something that appealed to what I had no name for, but which I now know is my cold, cold silicon heart. KRAFTWERK, and others who brought in the electronic wave, appealed.

  • @Dracopol Kraftwerk & Jarre are dull, the US and UK artists are the only countries to give synths any real meaning.

  • @ElectronicMusicUK Vangelis?

  • @namahsatad Vangelis, Jarre and Kraftwerk are great at what they do, I just think the British are are better at music...I've got hundreds of great British electronica to upload...

  • @Dracopol Silicon actually gets fairly hot in computers.

  • brilliant tune, shame the morons commenting below cant just enjoy and STFU in the process....

  • ::plugs ears:: LALALA NOT LISTENING TO HIPSTERS LALALA THIS IS GOOD MUSIC LALALA

  • I just CANNOT believe there is an argument on this video, which I have never seen despite owning the record since it came out.

So does the needle jump at 0:17 ? and does someone's sister put a sock over the microphone in front of the telly at 2:22 lol?

You know you're getting old when Kraftwerk start looking young. Florian Schneider with HAIR at 1:01.

Still, at 1:03 the German lyrics have "KORR-EKT" which make this a most unrobotic tune.

  • @evilrobottolhurst your comment didn't made much sense.

  • @JohnyFront Unfortunately, I don't speak Russian (not even Ja tvoi sluga, Ja tvoi rabotnik) so let's just both enjoy this classic song and let music bring us together. ;-)

  • Que musiquita , ke la pario, medecian krafeer pque jodia a todo el mundo para tenerlo en tocadisco winco.. que hijo de rata ............que momentos !!!

  • When I first listened to this song(This was before I even knew who Kraftwerk were) I expected this song to have been from the late 80's.

Imagine my surprise when I found out it was from 1978.

  • 0.0! A music video at only 240p that sounds pretty nice and that doesn't look like something from Minecraft!

  • Wow....128 total plebs clicked dislike!

  • @planetimager neh, they created multiple accounts and clicked dislike themselves since they are so good that nobody would press dislike otherwise! ;3

  • I like the German Lyrics more. But good quality.

  • Brillant love this song wish a certain "RISK" would do as think be NO 1 on x factor

  • Brillant love this song wish a cartain "RISK" would do as think be NO 1

  • Luvit

  • well words cant explaine this band real same goes 4the human league in a word phenomenal . love em talent gave me and me m8s hours of joy and still do

  • @paul196824 And I thought that today's generation are intelligent and can spell every word right...

Man! Fix your grammar, because it sucks balls and I had a hard time reading your "comment"...

  • 1 of the most important songs of the 20th centuary........probably!

  • First single I ever bought.

  • dokładnie!

  • Mimo upływu lat nadal wywołuje dreszcz na całym ciele!

  • ah 240p we meet again

  • 30 years old and still sounds like a fresh 2011 dance track.

    great band.

  • @SuperPirateTV great song, but it doesn't :)

  • 前に両腕を 伸ばして、くってけて、後ろ、に ひっぱる

  • これは、胸の 筋トレ が、いいですね。

  • ... schönes Lied ... meine Erinnerungen

  • I dunno if it was just me but i got a really negative vibe from this from the first time i heard it - the idea of getting with this model is totally out of the question.

  • Łaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Love it!

  • Grandi Kraftwerk, anche se preferisco la versione in tedesco

  • Nice song from Kraftwerk, but German New Wave legend AlphaVille knocks the stuffing out of this alternative outfit with its synthesizer music - and lyrics.

  • @cytotoxix I like them both, but for different reasons. Kraftwerk gives a more self-aware vibe and sends awesome messages, but Alphaville has some great orchestration and beautiful melodies.

  • germans are the biggest in electronic music. thanks to them electronic music was discovered ! thanks kraftwerk !

  • I love the part from 0:00-3:39!!!!

  • This is a nice tune. I remember hearing it alot when i was a child in the 80s

  • such a good song like im Gen y and i like this song

  • Krafwerk is so good

  • i love the part where i click play :P

  • This reminds me of yet another ACE period in my life...

  • Love the irony that this song is about a model, and there's an ad of a fat woman next to it

  • GAGA WILL NEVER BE KRAFTWERK, THEY WERE ORIGINAL AND WAY AHEAD OF THEIR TIME> REAL GENIUS!

  • Way way way ahead of their time

  • Genious!!!!! German music at its best! the father of all techno!

  • your trouble:Disappointment I did not meet may not be D how butchers:D

  • Still pierces my ADD brain at age 53...

  • i think this version is a lot better than the Rammstein version..
