That's true but for me they have a very different quality to anything that came out prior to Lets Dance..you can hear him trying on new ideas, even ways of living that seeped into his music; there was a sense of discovery and edginess. Not saying outside and heathen are bad but to me they sound like they come from a more comfortable place-nothing wrong with that, just personal preference...:) Still I'll have another listen to them...

Yes, this is from 1979 and was on Lodger from the Berlin Trilogy. He looks healthier here and even more so in '83 when he did the movie Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence and then put out Let's Dance.
