  • Using the End Fight music from Sword of the Stranger? SWEET!

  • I am pretty good with a laser gun, can I join you guys?

  • Good LARP material, haha.

  • Is this the WarSword/Nobleman's Sword? (shuang shou jian)

  • Interresting to see this straight's technic.

  • Hello, I shall try to explain why the "opponent" raises up and expose his stomach.

    1) He evades my cut by stepping back and raising sword back, in preparation for a cut.

    2) In actual combat, I'm supposed to rush in for the kill. Assuming I'm closing in, and he's starting to go "oh shit, he's really close now!", the opponent raises up and attempts to cut me.

    3) After a failed leg-cut at me, the opponent steps back and raises sword to prepare for a 2nd-attack.

    Thanks =)

  • @jackchn Takeshima san,let me interlope @Densetsu: the reason opponent steps BACK at step 3 is because if stays still he is dead, and if he moves forward,he will run into the other guys body, and maybe blade.Maybe this presupposes that opponent was not skilled in jujutsu.Because that is exactly what a jujutsu ryu would teach, step FORWARD and grapple and kill with a knife or short sword. Then scent mark. Thanks for reading(and typing jackchn)

  • @jackchn Great video!although if i were your opponent/partner instead of random white dude, you would have more zanshin!lol.Interesting names for all the kata/waza/xing/techniques things. How much of a connection do you feel between this and Shinkage or one of the related Kashima schools? Now i see a katawhatever here that is almost exact to one i have learned.Thank you for your work in this *bows*

  • @BushiBato

Generally, I think if you give a sword to anyone with the same 2-hands, 2-legs, we're all going to end up looking similar. =D

    Just like MMA! =)

  • @jackchn yes but the varieties of how to get there,so intricately variant.Just like life!

  • Very good.Yes your stance gives it away! ;)

  • If that fool opponent would stop blatantly leaving his stomach open, I doubt those attacks would be as effective. :P

  • @Densetsu004 Look closely at the video, you can't see that the "fool opponent" is pausing to show how it works,it IS A VIDEO MAN.And if you say"that won't work at full speed either"then i would suggest you A,train in a hard style where even the practice weapons are still quite dangerous,B play Go or Chess,C think before you talk.See how easy your words "moved" and just came out? That is the same way the weakminded fool opponents got killed by moving when they weren't supposed to and lost it all.

  • @BushiBato ...but if you were to go after someone in an actual use of these techniques, then he blocks his stomach, what then? That's what I'm trying to say. I know he's a video opponent used for training, that goes without saying, as it's a tutorial video.

  • @Densetsu004 Thank you for not being a mouth. After all the ill thought hate spitting after the Lesnar-Velasquez fight(means something to me cuz i am both a Lesnar fan and a Chicano like Velasquez)i was worried you would have just mouthed off like a dumb youtube kid.Very well, lets analyze. The movements are all born from intention. So one thing happens then the fool does another thing, then first guy does something etc. Put yourself in either of their places and think.Like chess.MSG me with results.

  • @BushiBato Hey, arguing on YouTube solves nothing. I just poke around for vids and amusement. You make excellent points, maybe I should look for more coreographed swordplay rather than tutorials for extended footage. i'm more into kendo forms, but again, you make some excellent points. ;D

  • @Densetsu004 I wasn't arguing. If i saw it as an argument i would have said like one sentence that summed up my feelings and not responded further. So why do you see this as different from kendo forms?

  • @BushiBato Just watching Kendo competitions and such, it seems like a much more sturdy, straightforward type of swordplay. Fencing like rapier-style, and Chinese swordplay always look very, for lack of a better term, light. I just prefer Kendo and German fencing because it looks more straightforward. I haven't been able to get lessons in these styles though, so all I can go off of is YouTube vids for now, so I may be wrong on a lot of counts here. TL;DR- Just personal preference.

  • @Densetsu004 you dont know much about swordfighting. i recomend you to see this video watch?v=_ST1wRzfgmI and to see the "light" fencing kill the "sturdy" kendoist. never judge a book by its cover
