Lord Death only lost because he took the hit for his comrades, plus, he never really did use his ultimate blast on Asura, and even if he did, it didn't hit. However, Kid did hit, if that attack was just a little stronger, that fight would have been over there and them.

@ZhakoT No, Lord Death lost because of bad writing. The whole point of Death and his Death Scythes is so that he can stop the Kishin when the time comes. That's why he lost the first time they fought, because the Kishin ran away and Death didn't have his scythe with him. Kid is nowhere near as powerful as his dad. Lord Death is immortal. That's part of what makes me hate the anime ending. The anime writers pulled a bunch of crap. It's part of what makes it inferior to the manga.

While I do agree with #1/#3, #2 only really happened because the anime got so far ahead of the manga they had to do a Filler Ending like this.

So far in the manga, Maka just defeated Arachnne. The reason she gives is basically a TAKE THAT to the anime's point of Courage where Arachnne tries to tell her that she won due to Arachnne's own mistakes but Maka responds: "I'm stronger than you" really epicly, before slicing her in half. They haven't faced Asura yet.
