Where the Narwhale fits this story is that the Danish king and the danish royal familie made a fortune selling narwhale horn to euoropean royals and upperclass. Passin them off as unicorn horns. This went on for centuries, before the scam was reveald.(Because the narwhales lives around greenland who was owned by denmark, a small island few europeans ever went).

The horn was very expensive but also very demanded, both as lucky charms, decoratvie objects and medicine.

Really, the "discovery" of unicorns was made in the middleages by a munk who travled to India, he claimed to have seen this creature, wich fit the descriptin and later became the unicorn, in India.

Since very few from the western world at that time had been in India, there was very few to debate this discovery and with time it got accepted as common knowledge.

The myths about the unicorn came later on, but their horn where thought to bring luck or heel people.
