Using a hair dryer on the foil would have been better. You don't really want to be burning the foil and folding the hair with the straightener... you should just be applying heat. It would result in less damage to the hair. However, you can do it your way :).

Hey i have a question. years ago i tryed to put red streaks in my blond hair and i did everything and then hopped into the shower to rinse. and it all bled! The red bled into the blond making my whole head pink with red streaks! how do i avoid this again? do i wash the streaks seperate from my blond hair? And after the first initial rinse next time i wash my hair can i just do it as usual? thanx ^-^

@PoisonIvy8383 i'm no pro but this sounds about right. you shouldn't wash your head in the shower because the dye is still potent (your hair isn't going to soak it all up) and like what happened, it's going to bleed. And since your hair is blonde, your will want to be extra careful to rinse your streaks separately. you don't want it to stain your skin either. since you rinced away the dye, the next time you shower it'll be different because there's no extra dye to spread to your hair.

if you look at the box of color sometimes they will give you a picture of what the dye will look like on different colors of hair. So if it is pretty dark the red will be dull and more of an undertone, so if that is what you want than it can be done, otherwise try to lighten some of the spots with lemon juice and the sun for a more natural bleaching that won't totally blonde it out but make the areas lighter

Instead of burning your hair with a flat iron-use a hair-drier to heat up the dye. it's kind of like when you are at a salon and they put the bowl thing on top of your heat and they make you sit there. the sound of your hair sizzling is def not a good thing..ever.

You don't need a longer piece you need to curl you hair on it

also when dying it don't DON'T heat with chemical formula on your hair it is a great way to go bald any hair dresser would tell you this and it also has it on the bottle also the foil is a great idea however when you do them don't fold them bend them over a fine rat tail comb end if you don;t you will notice where the color has been squished out and it will look as if you missed bits great vid thou ;)

its acually better to dye your hair without washing it first. i know it sounds funny but its better when your hair is dirty. :)

A couple professional hair stylist told me NOT to wash my hair before dying it, also if it's dirty it's okay because it helps it hold the color. If your hair is wet or damp it won't absorb as much of the hair dye. I would have really like to see a after picture though. I think it would look pretty cool blond with red highlights!

If you stain anything, just use bleach to clean it up. Also, to prevent your hair from bleeding in the shower, I always use special shampoo for treated hair, and cold water if I'm out. Cold water never bleeds hair.

yea you keep your hair dry to bleach on some bleaches. Yeah sorry I didn't do the after look. I originally put this out for a technologies class I was taking in college. And if you wanna reach the roots really good use a little cheep black comb with close teeth and put the color on that.

It is tipping because you will only need to paint the bottom portions of your hair. So when you go to dye what you want bleach first the bottom of your hair and then wash out the bleach then you can dye with the pink.

well because it did work I have pictures posted all the time with my hair dyed, and if you have never been to a hair salon where they dye your hair that is how they do it. And yes if you have dark hair you have to bleach it to get the color, unless you just want to have it look just weird and not any color whatsoever.

you should have sectioned your hair first it would have benn easier. you can also use a blowdryer instead of a flat iron.

Lot's of people say not to condition hair before but I have conditioned my hair before and then dyed it later that day and the results haven't been any different so I dunno whether it matters too much if you do or not. And I've dyed my hair a lot so yeah. I'm not just talking out my ass lol.
