@danDon715 There are some inbuilt drumsets in Garageband, but they dont sound as good as SD2. Just get a midi cable and a external soundcard with midi in and connect it then it should work. Atleast it did for me. But if u cant afford Sd2 i would recomend ezdrums/drumkit from hell. Its much cheaper and is really good, yet again nothing is as good as superior 2. But all the ez drum programs are from toontrack so u know its quality!
can i just pluge it in my computer and then play or do i really have to go threw all the softwere and crap? like when i get it can i just take it out of the box put it together pluge it in and play?
@1200xjr hi, the USB should be fine though I haven't tried it. Anything that's dedicated to audio recording that isn't built into the laptop should be fine. I had to buy my MIDI cable separately.
Many thanks for this video. I have been looking a while for it...
I have an HP Pavilion dv3000 laptop with an integrated sound card (IDT). I bouth a MIDI/USB cable and I tried SD2. The high latency makes the play horrible.
If I did well understand what you explained (I'm french), I need to buy a Firebox from PreSonus and I can play through SD2, as if I was playing with the DTXPress IV module. Is it correct or did I forget something ?
Hey Bro nice vid!! it really does help, But i have one more question?? where did you buy that midi cable the you have??? can you give me a link to the web site that you bought it from or something?? thanks!!!
"does the firebox handle and decode the midi signal or does it forward the signal to the mac"
My answer:
The MIDI connection to the firebox means that the Yamaha kit can send MIDI signals (digital) to the CPU. The CPU interprets the MIDI signal as 'note C3' for example which might be mapped to the snare. The CPU loads the digital snare sound file from RAM and sends it to the firebox to be converted to analog.
Do Yu have to Get sd2 Or Can Yu Just Start Recording From GarageBand..??

I'd like also to know what king of cable you use, and if its included in the box of the firebox.
