  • Gah, I know I should stop ignoring your "Turn this off" warnings. I always cry when I watch this, it's just... gahhh, I dunno, life is being being strange, depressingly strange.

  • I just beat the game today. But I never saw the 5 armed girl everyone talks about. Where is she?

  • Poor loli.

  • Why did you not press 1 and 3 on the ending screen? It makes jellies talk.

  • she must still be dreaming since the jellyfish came in the ending

  • A theory about this. The protagonist is actaully in a coma. That's why her eyes are closed. Also it explains why there are dream creatures around her tangible body. Her suiciding is to jolt herself awake

  • Mabe that wasn't blood, mabe she just jumped into a giant pool of koolaid off-screen? o3o

  • @Soundwave361 OH YEAH!!!

  • I can make snow too.. clicks winter snow butten.

  • In a way, Im glad she jumped. Dont get me wrong, its sad, but at least she escaped. She was forced to live with her dreams; and that was unbelievable torture. If she lived, she would maybe leave her room and receive help. But i nthe end, she would still have to deal with her disturbing and gruesome dreams. I cant help but think that all she wanted was to wake up. Wake up, please.. Wake up...

  • @ImazukiZero You aren't very good with nightmares, are you?

  • @ImazukiZero no, go to sleep, jeff commands her, maybe thats why she won't open the door

  • if you liked yume nikki so much you could try some yume nikki fangames, like .flow, yume 2kki, the other line, etc

i never played them but i heard they're really cool, just like yume nikki

  • So the blood isn't really a part of the conscious "mind-body connection", and isn't really relevant at this point. Kind of like how people experience "phantom limb", only you're not going to start freakin' out when you lose some blood.

So her body's not there, because she's exited this subconscious plain of existence, her dreams. She's in the actual waking world now, I believe. What a seriously interesting game though. If what I said was covered here already, sorry.

    Couldn't read all of that.

  • We are all born to die.

  • lol. poop hair.

  • if you kill one of your midget clones, is that murder, or suicide?

  • huge spoiler will ruin the game for you.

please if you want to play it for yourself dont watch this^^

  • Exept we have the choice of ending it

  • Ah, poor little one. Spit on all her life. We can wish all we want that it could end differently, but in the end, the true meaning and ending will remain. In our minds, in canon, and in her pain. It was a mercy killing, ne?

  • @Sonoskeakigawa Ne, indeed.

  • @Sonoskeakigawa

what the hell are you talking about?

  • Why'd she KILL herself?

  • @silverfan2k She spent her life as a recluse with no human interaction, haunted by terrible nightmares of her own loneliness and exclusion. She went to the roof to escape, like she did in her dreams.

  • @Triskitout There's a theory for the ending that after she jumps, the jellyfish appear. some people think that since they appear, even though when you jumped after you are woken up, that the entire time you were dreaming, even when you "wake up." Or that the outside world is corrupted and her dreams represent what she experiences in the real world ;3

  • It's a true ending

  • why is it, when you give the farewell, it seems like a little bit that madotsuki is talking to the viewers, i swear i'd get a female friend, and ask her to be madotsukis voice and just say that to promote the game.

  • Madotsuki is an inspiration to me. Her imagination is so vivid and she has such deep fantasies, though disturbing and creepy fantasies. it's like she's a dreaming expert; she knew how to escape her troubles with her own internal world.

That is something I took to heart. My dreams have done the same for me every so often, but I feel inspired to live for them; to take none for granted.

Poor thing, if she was real I so would have been her friend. Life may suck, but there are many joys...

  • I cried

  • Well. Alot of things can be said about this game, and how you can relate your own life with that kid's dreamworld stuff. cleary she's disturbed by something in the real life and that reflects on her dreams. I can relate it to Alice Madness Returns, but just in the "psycho" way where you always have a way to remove things from your way. I'd love to read a history concept. Like something explaining every point in the game, but orinal, no fan-made or at least done by some competent psycologist.

  • do you have to find every item to reach the end?

  • @Salphodya YES

  • fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • I collected all 25 effects and nothing happened

  • 1:15 that egg looks like a yoshi egg.

  • 5:36 Makes me think of Watchmen.

  • I got it on Mac and in english! XD

  • Even though this game is fun and wierd, its always the,end for some games that really tears you up and mostly gives you a lesson. Life is precious and you can't just sit in one place, dreaming of amazing and exciting things when there are equally wondeeful things put in the open.

  • Yume Nikki....... The most screwed up game.....

  • Matsudoki dies.

    sad

    yes

BUT SERIOUSLY DUDE STOP REPEATING YOURSELF AND GET IT OVER WITH...

  • It doesnt work for me,for some reason...the stair never appears ; A;

  • @SabakuNoLeo ç_ç not only you

    i've got the same problem

  • @ShadowRevolution96 I get the answer after posting here xD you must have 25 "effects",(they're 24,but the instructions count as 1 by some reason,so,it makes 24 when it must be 23)

  • well u can kinda think she did or didn't i mean theres no body so she could have walked away, or she could have still been dreaming why the people from the dream happen at the end. anyone know if the creators still working on this? been like 2 years and its still v.1

  • I thought the ending would be more upbeat or somthing. Not what actualy happened

  • There ARE multiple endings including a happy ending. At least that's what the related video results say.

  • Very anticlimactic ending. I was a little disappointed when I came across this in-game. It didn't feel like there was any real build-up or motivation for her committing suicide - felt like a very random decision.

  • 0___o thats weird.

  • he made a happier ending.

  • BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • NOO~~

  • Ending makes me sad. i should download this. And grab soul dream and gensou. They look good. Overall i hate crappy endings. :(

  • ;-; Why did I watch?

  • M'K THEORY TIMEZZZZ!

The reason you cant go outside is because the door is locked. Madotsuki is either abused by her parents or they're really mean. So maybe she did something wrong one night and she didnt get dinner and they locked her in her room. You dont really know where the key is. But Mado has phobia of tiny spaces ( hint hint torinigen ) and so she gets sooooo pissed of being locked up in her own room.. She commits suicide. So all you Yume Nikki fans out there.. Dont be sad.

  • oh god video game has never been this sad D':

  • 5:20 made me cry.

  • There are two alternate endings

  • How are you supposed to figure out the ending, dropping the eggs, without resorting to some sort of guide? Did they give that as a hint somewhere during the game?

  • so bad it has to end like this... I didn't understand a thing about the meanings.

  • Good game but Bad Ending

  • The Jellyfish is a sign that she was either still dreaming (it IS possible to think you wakeup when you're still dreaming actually) or that everything in her dream was real, which, to an extent, everything in her dreams is real or possible.

  • who needs silent hill 4 when you have this...

oo i dont like the ending but you know its a great ending for a great game

  • Hmm just wierds me out as to where those stairs came from out of no where, maybe she was dreaming? Sequel?

  • Can any of you give me like a background story on this game. It looks pretty fun but creepy at the same time with the Uboa and that 5 armed girl. But please can someone tell me about this game, I don't want to think it's a bad game just so I can know what it's about and ddecide if I might play it or not. Please respond.

  • @MetroArtyom2033

You play as the girl, Madotsuki, who is on a quest inside her dreams to gather 'effects' from several of her dream worlds. As you venture further inside her dreams, you find secret passageways that connect between the worlds. You also find rather sad, sometimes cute and disturbing findings in your quest, some also even to perhaps tell one how her life is... This game requires great patience, it also requires some imagination. Quite a special game in my oppinion...

  • @MetroArtyom2033

... but i sometimes lost it a little at some tedious parts, such as a time were you have to keep on laying in bed in a random dream world, but it's a 1-out-of-something chance for it to happen. But besides that, quite the entertaining (and spooky) freeware game. Hope this helps

  • Do we ever see the rest of the building? It could stop right past the screen.

She may have just coughed up blood.

  • sooooo she kills herself.... she should of when out more

  • I just finished the game, and thought: why go through all that? she could've jumped right at the beginning. agreed there wouldn't be much of a game.

but then, having had that much of a game, why end it like that?

very anti-climatic, but I liked the game nonetheless...

  • ...emm..this is so sad...Q.Q

  • ...:(

  • @LaserCyth The whole game of her being in a layered coma/dream like Inception is an extremely bad idea and would undermine the games artistic merit.

Being knocked out or death will result in your being unconscious suddenly. (not entirely brain dead) Therefore she will enter her dream world after she hits the pavement.. which explains the dream creatures.. and then.. as her senses fail due to her stopped heart her consciousness will cease to exist (as it fades to black)

  • @harlowisp Not this again. Why the fuck doesn't youtube include an edit option

You're NOT the first person to read that and scream "Inception!". Look at the other posts. Jesus, I clarified that matter hours after I made that first post

Also no, you can clearly see during daytime that she jumps from a retardedly high place. The impact wouldn't make her go unconscious. It'd be a head-cracked-open, brain-spilled-all-over death. No time for dream worlds, or slowly fading senses, either

  • @LaserCyth I'm not claiming to be the first person. Just pointing out its overused.

People have been known to miraculously survive sky divings without a parachutes help or falling from cliffs without any head trauma at all.. given its a rarity it doesnt make Yume's "brain spilling" a certainty.. neither does your hypothesis.

  • @harlowisp well given 5 months had already passed the thought that *maybe* you weren't the first one could have crossed your mind. It's also unrelated to the post you were replying to, either way

If we're going to talk about miraculous odds, then just about anything at all could have happened. I'd rather stick with a theory that's at least likely, because, you know, stairs coming out of nowhere and all that

  • Disregarding all the bitching I see below this.

@LoudMan01 I really hope you do more of this let's play when kikiyama continues the game. I have heard on uboachan that he is planning on continuing, (very, /very/ slowly though), and your lp was probably one of the best imo.

Also, have you ever played .flow or 2kki or Nisshi or any of those secondary games?

  • Quit getting mad at video games.

  • I really liked Madotsuki... :(

  • Madotsuki appears depressed throughout the game because she's sleeping so much. I just wish they elaborated on why she feels so sad, and not just left the dreams up to interpretation. I wouldn't call it a just ending per se, I wish a deus ex machina would occur and someone would come and save her from herself, especially if you complete the game within a certain time limit, but the ending does make sense.

  • @HolyDemonSnap I think that's the point. You want there to be something to save her, but in the end there isn't. And sometimes having having that unexpected happen, and having all the dreams to interpretation is what makes the ending. You will never really know why, but it happened. To a lot of people this happens in real life too.

  • In all honesty, the fact that this ending is so tragic makes this game all the more artistically valuable and endearing. I mean, would you even get all this hype about the ending if Madotsuki just said "Aww screw it" and walked out of her room?

  • Oh fuck, she an heroed.

  • I feel that Madotsuki was facing abuse at school from her classmates and teachers and finally gave up on life and retreated to her house. The effects are really strange, don't you think? I think they stand for each of the insecurities they made her feel: seriously, Poop Hair? Ghost? Fat? She realized all her fears that she pretended didn't exsist, hiding them in her mind. I hope to learn something when I get a chance to play this.

  • There's a good ending where she jumps but it's just a dream and she doesnt die

  • And thus the premise for Inception was born.

Also, the jellyfish NPC's are unaffected by the knife or cat unlike the others, so some think that they're omniscient beings that actually can exist in the real world, counteracting the theory that Mado was still dreaming. Also note that one is in the dense woods with the corpse that gives you the Stoplight.

  • hmm the ending maybe like tom cruise film about he has been in dream for long time cause he killed him self for heal his face who got accident and put in sleep for long time by some company and the choice is he can go out the dream by jumping from high place

  • I heard two theories about this ending. The first theory is that she killed herself because she got tormented by those nightmares. But the second theory....is what I really thinik about it. The theory is that she goes to sleep to escape REALITY. Madotsuki thought the dreams were calming, and she met a lot of people there. Killing herself, meant she wanted to keep dreaming, permanently. :3

  • that was predictable for me, really bad end anyway.

  • this is worse than bambi's mother death

  • attually... It seem like the girl fufilled what she needed to do and felt like she had nothing else to do in the world.

  • You didn't see Monoko on-screen, AND....... they should've made the ending a DANCE PARTYYYYYY!~!!!!!!!!!, thumbs up if you agree that should've been the ending

  • You didn't see Monoko on-screen

  • But....why?.....

  • 'That's not a demon, that's a thunder god!" anyone get the joke? anyone? ... please?

  • i herd that there`s another ending where she jumps of but lives is this true or not?

  • @MrMynewthing No, sorry.

  • can I ask what the diary is? Is it just where the loads are or is it an actual diary which helps to explain certain things?

  • its like watching a psychological movie and taking the facts straight up without even seeing the underlying messages....(Oh she dead...)...who knows maybe the final scene were just in her head...it never actually happened..as if it symbolizes throwing the old madotsuki...and into a new one..a sign of being reborn im not saying that the supporters of the dead mado is wrong...Its just doesn't feel right for ME. When I'll visit japan, ill be sure to find Kikiyama first before going home..

  • I can feel how sad the Uploader when he saw the ending....so much...as if he was gonna cry after this commentary...Im one of those people who are hopeful that Madotsuki...is still alive....if this has a proper story with words..suicide ending would be fine for me...but this isn't it......i feel something is wrong....its like . Continuing in the next post

  • The whole game takes place in the dream world... and you expected her, to, what, NOT commit suicide?

Off hand, I think there's only one time a story took place almost entirely in the dream world and the protagonist was still alive in the end: Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath. Of course, after that RC couldn't dream at all, so it's more of an inversion.

The ending is cliche, for sure, but it's hinting that she was probably still dreaming, so by Inception rules she was trying to wake up.

  • true art is angsty, dawg.

  • Whenever I had to end the game, I always made sure to have it sunny outside her apartment. I don't know why.

  • What if the jelly fish creatures at the end were Madosuki's parents or old friends looking at her? We can't tell the expression of them though...

  • What if she just randomly had period blood shoot out?

  • @JediJ971 Is that a happy ending or not?

  • Kikimaya: the Mike Inel from Japan XD

I think the real life was the dream, and the dream world was only a deeper place in the dream.

  • Hey, so uh... did anybody notice that stairway appeared out of nowhere? Because I sure did. Are you telling me that she wasn't still dreaming? One of her many presumed friends, brought that in while she was asleep and left it there for her? Why were there little dream creatures walking up on a real-world blood stain? I should say I find it hard to believe, especially with the significance of the effects as the goal, that the only theme was hopelessness. Maybe I'm being hopeful xD Go ask Japan.

  • The price of freedom is steep.

  • she just dies in the dream, thats her way of waking up, in real life she lives in a one story building and the blood was just juice she spilt

  • @mewjessica1777

    INCEPTION!!!!

  • I PLAYED THIS FOR 7 HOURS STRAIGHT JUST TO SEE THIS ENDING! I EVEN KNEW THE ENDING BEFORE-HAND! WOOOOT!!!!!!!! I DIDN'T EVEN SEE THE WHOLE GAME (areas). GOODBYE! Good bye? ?????????????????

  • @SonjaArashi Yeah, I take my comment back, I did some research on the matter and found out that the creator is not missing, and that it was not a digital suicide note, but some of the game was based off of the people he knew in his life.

  • You didn't have to make her die You know... You could have Kept playing.

  • @CelBoatCel The things you love the most should be left free...D:

  • well theres still the possibility that madotsuki survived the fall, people have been know to survive from fall as high as 1000 ft, this of course is a more uplifting assumption for those that didnt like how it ended. you can think the way you want though

  • Q.Q RIGHT AFTERI WACHED THIS I DID IT. ITS SO DEPRESSING.

  • Actually it is believed that this is a digital suicide note, from what I've heard. In fact, the creator is missing and nobody can find him/her. So.. Yeah

  • @jjjblack010 They're not missing, they're just busy in real life. They've even mentioned they're still working on Yume Nikki, but they do have a life to live first and formost.

  • Kind of fitting; if you saw all that stuff in your dreams, and if you were so antisocial, I think suicide would be the first solution. Not the best solution, but certainly one of the bigger ones you would find.

  • How long she has to sit there? I've already collected all effects and i tried to sit at balcony stairs like 6 min and nothing happened. : <

  • Where did you get it?

  • When i saw that thing on the balcony i thought you you could walk on it and all off the side.......I thought she was gonna commit suicide..... :(

  • @Tyranasarahus I feel like such a total retard..........made this comment before i watched the end........ XD

  • For those stairs to have appeared tells me her apartment is also the dream, and this is her realising she's in a false reality. Though she kills herself in the dream, she's escaping the confines of her mind and her isolationism.

  • You see those dream characters around that blood stain? It means her "real world" was just another dream.

Just like she "fell asleep" in those beds within her dream world, which led to the underground area, so did she "fall asleep" within her dream, leading to her huge dream world's entrance.

Maybe she was just dreaming, or in a coma. There's no way of telling that. But this ending most certainly represents the end of her dream, not the end of her life.

  • @LaserCyth INCEPTION щ(ಠ益ಠщ)

  • @Tandy400 you're right, it does sound like Inception. But I didn't mean to make it sound as if I was talking about dream layers or levels or something along those lines.

When I said she would fall asleep in the "Real World" I meant it in the same way as she would fall asleep in those "Dream World" beds; she didn't necessarily fall asleep, more like she teleported to another area of her dream

"Real World" bed -> "Dream World" balcony

"Dream World" beds -> weird stairway with wavy arms

  • @Tandy400

    LOL

  • @LaserCyth Inception, that is all you had to say

  • @syatica That's not it at all. Check back on the previous posts from a few months back and you'll see what I actually meant when I typed that comment out

On a side note, glad to see there's a good amount of people that agree with this theory

  • @LaserCyth We need to go deeper...

  • @YoungBasedSausa yeah, that's why it's called a theory, because it's speculation. Otherwise it'd be called a fact. But congratulations on figuring that one out

  • @YoungBasedSausa It takes someone pretty dumb to think I'm exposing that as fact rather than theory. So that reaction was pretty much expected anyway. Look at the a post that's just 4 posts below your first dumb comment and *try* to read it. If it proves too much for you it's ok, you'll learn how to eventually

Either way, it's annoying to see the comments section with a new notification and coming just to see another round of your verbal diarrhea, so kindly shut the fuck up

  • @YoungBasedSausa LOL take ur waifu and cry urself to sleep fkin weeaboo. stop makin the rest of us YN fans look like no life shits like u

  • @LaserCyth Interesing analysis....

  • @LaserCyth i think you might be at least part right. notice that when its showing the little credit things you can control the left jelly fish by pressing 1. i think that would point to the possibility of that thing being her. but its also a possibility that she did die and the jellyfish arent actually there at all.

  • @LaserCyth Inception?

  • @MetalLion64 nope

  • @LaserCyth From what I believe a common belief is that her entire family died in the car crash but she was left in a coma so this game would pretty much be a dream inside a dream inside a dream

  • @LaserCyth inception before inception?

  • @houndoom1234 nope

  • @TheDarkcloud2020 actually I never cried with a videogame, and I've never cried with a movie, the only game who has made me drop one tear, was Chrono Cross, and the ony movie that made me feel incredibly sad but also happy was Hachiko

  • @lightignakelloyd Hachiko i cried in i easily cry i guess though...

  • I got an awesome ending.

She turns into uboa then explodes.

    I be good with endings.

  • @PinduliPwn That's awesome.

  • Ok Madotsuki you can only do this once so make it count, take off in a dead sprint and aim for that car down there. Now when you jump I want to see atleast two front flips and end it with a flying squirrel ontop of the car, you can do this go for gold!

it's only a sad ending if you want it to be, I believe she took first place at the suicide olympics.

  • One of the prevalent theories is that Madotsuki was transgendered, which is why she refused to leave the house. The negative portrayal of phallic imagery and the prevalence of womb-like creatures lends this theory a small amount of credence. All things considered, for a transgendered person, often times this is the only ending that seems possible.

  • why everyone place the effect egg like they're performing excocist?

  • what?! she just dies like that? i don't get it :(

  • I agree with the ;_; LoudMan comment.

    ;_;

  • Ok so here guys that keep thinking WTF what just happened? The main character was already dead.

  • People want a happy ending. But do you REALLY thing something happy fits in this game? No. Just look back at the game, and you tell us YOU WANT A HAPPY ENDING AFTER YOU TAKE AN ACID TRIP?

  • @AkaneKuroi of course I want a happy ending after an acid trip, but that has nothing to do with this game.

  • I just thought of something...

I don't think the "version 0.10" was referring to the completion of the game... The game seems pretty finished, I think it was intended to be a part of the atmosphere.

  • Story of my life...

  • @InnisDeceit

You dream about having crap on your head so you jump off a building?

  • @FappingFury #%^# YES. D:>

  • @InnisDeceit

man don't jump off a building you're just too downright sugoi for that hnnggg

  • @lightignakelloyd

Thats a little TOO deep, don't you think...

  • @Hydrogen10101 hmm no I don't, I just love videogames and realy try to feel what the characters feel, weird huh? but yes, that's the way I am, and I don't wanna turn back or change...

  • BAD END

  • That was really well done for a RPG tsukuru (maker) 2003 game. Bravo, kikiyama.

  • I don't know about anyone else, but I saw this ending coming from miles away. Kikiyama could have done so much more with it the ending sequence, but it looks like... (don shades) ...he took the easy way out. (YEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHH)
