The tornado is real, it's just a quadruple exposure of the same tornado as it moved to the storm chasers left side. In someways like a lightning photo is done, except you don't hold the shutter open. Or it may be four images of the same tornado layered over each other using some digital technique to make it look like a quadruple exposure. It was intended as a timelapse and not to try and trick people that there are 4 twiststers on the ground at one time in a line. It let's you see the path of it

I'm a professional photographer and been using photoshop for 15 years and most of these have some touch ups done. Looks too perfect especially :40...come on a HEART!
