  • im curious whats on that cassette if its recorded at a school? is it recordings of the teacher talking in front of the class?

  • Now it sounds really good, no hint of flutter/wow. That wood grain is a huge improvement, it looks great!

  • Great job getting it working and that foil really look nice!

My 1966 VM (Voice of Music) record player has woodgrain foil on top of the original finish too, but you did a professional job on yours compared whoever did it on my VM b4 I got it.

I have some of those vintage Maxell XLll cassettes too.

  • Thank you!

A long time ago I saw one of these huge 80s Sharp boomboxes at a flea market, and somebody had put woodgrain foil onto the housing. It looked absolutely funny.

The Maxell cassettes are really good, and they look very nice :)

  • I'm sure it did!

My '66 VM doesn't looks like it's from the 60s. More like the 70s.

  • I've been waiting for Part 2 for ages! Hey man, I was wondering, how do you set the speed of your tape decks? Im just wondering as I'd like to adjust one of my decks but I can never get it quite right...

  • Setting the speed isn't one of my favourite tasks... most of the times you have a hole in the back of the motor, and you can stick a small screwdriver into there, and then you can adjust the speed.

If that hole is missing, you have a big problem. On the Ultrasound cassette deck I had to modify the power supply to get the right speed, but sometimes you even have to replace the motor :P

  • Ahhh, Maxell XLII's--used to buy those five to a pack some twenty-plus years ago. Sometimes they'd throw in a nylon carrying case.

  • WOW the foil looks really great. Where you've got it from?

  • I'll write this in German...

  • Nice! I am glad your cassette deck works!

Also, the wood-style adhesive foil is a nice idea!

  • Thank you!
