  • @youareheavensent You're right . . . It was that crazy cartoonist who made a slang phrase from the 1920s or 30s popular again in the 1970s. Then Eddie capitalized with this monster hit.

  • Why is this song jamming? DAMN! Good music just continues to reach the far reaches of stimulation. Author G. D. Grace posted this one on FB

  • @vintageclassik1990 You right. check out Rare Earth LP, whole side version of 'GET READY'.

  • If you like this one, listen to early Temptations Great American Music that broke color lines for all of us to enjoy

Back then Berry Gordy was the Bill Gates of the music industry. So much talent came from the city of Detroit.

    Eddie was Mister Temptation!

Check out Four Tops,Miracles,Gladys Knight and the Pips,Martha and the Vandellas,Supremes,to name but a few!

Again Thank You Eddie for helping GOD make so much Joy,Happiness, and Love for all to enjoy!

  • Mister Kendricks is a truly remarkable American Man

The United States of America was at great loss when Mister Kendricks left the Temptations to embark upon a solo career ,however we were excited that a new dimension to the music industry was about to occur. And it did!

As a solo artist Kendricks is an even bigger Icon then with the Tempts! He was Mister Temptation!

Mister Kendricks I thank you for helping GOD give this imperfect World so much Love,Joy,and Happines! God bless you Brother

  • Great days with great music . I remeber the gallery with the swinging mirror ball dancing late nite.

  • i don't understand if you don't know who Eddie Kendricks is or don't know the song how do you end up here? It's not like you can accidentally type Eddie Kendricks- Keep On Truckin'. This is good also check out a song called Freddie's Dead by Curtis Mayfield.

  • 2:42

a seminal moment in funk/soul music

followed by a whole seminal middle 8

or is that a middle 32

    just superb

  • @Mehefinheulog1 what original form that's the problem with rap and rand b today you just can't do it

  • who is this?

  • @nowl8ter I'm not going to give you negative votes or call you names...he was one of the original members of the temptations, now if you don't know who they are you need to be shot.

This song was his biggest solo hit, and if you listened to the entire song, you can hear where several ppl have sampled it. He died from lung cancer in 1992

  • @babyEroose yea i know about the temptations

  • R.I.P. Eddie Kendricks 1939-1992 Keep on truckin'

  • Great arrangement on this. that clavinet is killin', and this has got to be the only pop song from the '70s with a vibraphone solo.

  • What a great tune! I still recall the first time I ever heard this song... it was late on a Saturday night during the Christmas break in 1974. One of my childhood hobbies was tuning in AM radio stations from far away (from my home in Albuquerque). One of my favorite stations to listen to was the late, great XROCK 80 (remember them?) If I recall correctly, it was Wolfman Jack who spun the disc that night.

  • didnt this guy drown in a boat, or get beaten down by david ruffins?

  • waw........memories of the early 70's tuned in to KDIA-1310 Oakland.....

  • Does anyone have any info on Pam Sawyer and/or Kathy Wakefield (they both wrote with either Frank Wilson and/or Leonard Caston during the 70's at Motown)?...I think they were both either English or Canadian, but have been able to find very little about how they came to be in the business.

  • Man when the beat breaks down and comes back in, I get pumped. I just saw the soul train dancers jammin to this somethin terrible! LOL

  • As I recall, back in 1988 a rapper by the name of Raheem sampled this song also I believe the name of the joint was "Dance Floor" the kid was from Houston.

  • "And old Temptation's rain, 'Im duckin..." - Old school subliminal diss to his former group. Love it.

  • after all these years this song still bumps

  • @jankydeuces SHO YA RITE!!

  • @smoton2 I CAN DIG IT

  • Thank you for posting this long (album) version of this classic dance track, still relevant to today - the Temptations, Eddie Kendricks, David & Jimmy Ruffin, Dennis Edwards - keep playing, keep on jumping - DAVEDJ

  • This track get's better and better as it goes on. The musicianship on this is exemplary.

From 6.46 onwards it's funking insane.

  • Chilling in DC and hadn't heard this in AGES!!!

  • This song is my shit sing it Eddie im 21 I jamm on this song

  • One of my favorite songs growing up.

  • Played this song back in the day with The Softones. Every time we did this song we tore the house down. We had several gigs with Eddie, when my home boys The Young Senators were his back up band.

  • For all my fellow truck drivers in B More we dont say ten four we say 4-10! Keep em turnin kids got 2 eat! daddy want a new Harley and all that!

  • this beat was sampled by Mr. Cheeks lights, camera, action

  • @datguyjaz which bit?

  • @datguyjaz - Sure was! And the song went straight to #1. Back when "Lights, Camera, Action" was hot, the DJ played it at an event in NY and people were dancing so hard that the makeshift dancefloor collapsed! True Story...

  • @datguyjaz but 1st sampled by a guy name Raheem...song is called Dance Floor

  • Great music made and performed by great souls for great men

    G.C.P

  • this beat was sampled in Mr. Cheeks lights, camera, action

  • This song reminds me of my Dad...He was a truck driver and he loved this song.

Thank You for the song.....music is not like this anymore...I wish it was

  • @MeetRay yeah. i was just a kid but it still brings back memories of my dad on the road and driving through the busy industrial smoggy cities back then. it was about life. now its all "me" music. what has happened?

  • I pull strings like Jimi Hendrix, got more beats that go back to the days of Eddie Kendricks!

  • IN THE 8BALL EXPRESS

  • ....what the fuck has happened to this type of music, will someone relight the fuse.. pure funky class..

  • can u dig it

  • People who normally didn't dance at parties got up and jammed on this tune! Fun memories....

  • Mr. Kendicks was the best tenor that every lived. Does anyone remember the "Annie Mae" Song? It went this used to be the home of Annie Mae she dont live here no more... no more.....

  • Love my Sagittarians! They are high-strung when provoked though! DAG!! I like them when they are nice and NOT when they are upset! Eddie probably had a side to him that way.

  • @candylaurenkaryn Remember, Sag's operate under the element of fire and the astrological influence of Jupiter=Ruler.

  • This awesome timeless song of beautiful memories. thx 4postN.

  • Eddie hit the national top 40 4 times in his career-"Keep On Truckin', Pt. 1" in 1973, "Boogie Down" and "Son of Sagittarius" in 1974 and "Shoeshine Boy" in 1975. "Truckin'" and "Boogie Down" went to #1 and #2 respectively.

After Eddie left The Temptations never had another #1 single and only hit the top 10 once--"Masterpiece" in early 1973. David Ruffin hit the top 10 twice--"My Whole World Ended (The Moment You Left Me)" in 1969 and "Walk Away from Love" in 1975.

  • @t40onbass not to mention what he did with the temptations.... :)

WHAT ABOUT "INTIMATE FRIENDS" ???? That song is sampled soooo muuuuch

  • Is this the is the LP version? B'cuz the CD version isn't this long and doesn't have as many verses....?

  • That Hammond B-3 organ at the end of the song has got to be one of the coldest riffs in the history of pop music.

  • @3kingkool - keyboard patterns/organ riffs are reminiscent of Billy Preston's style. Thought I was the only who noticed them lol

  • @wcta0608 Yeah man, that riff is the whole reason I bought the album version of this song back in the day.

  • Always and forever funky. One would be hard pressed to find something this funky nowadays. Don't get me wrong, there are exceptions to this "rule"(thank you Jill, Chrisette, Eryka, ?ion-Love, and the like).

  • @coldrockdaspot

and lets not forget Mr Cheeks ....Lights,Camera, Action

  • @coldrockdaspot And let's not forget - Mr Cheeks - Lights, Camera, Action!

  • That's some muthafuckin shit right there.

  • @TheBitterWeed, LOL

I couldn't have put it better myself. This track is funking vicious.

  • for the voice of Eddie...I'll keep on truckin', Walkin in the Rain, and i'll be a Girl that has a change of mind....THX MAN!

  • Boy, that Hammond B-3 organ at the end of this song takes it over the top for me! That drummer is taking no prisoners. What a stone cold jam!!!

  • @3kingkool

Huh, bro? Whatcha say? Are they, or are they not CLOWNIN'?

  • well he should of got honors for this jam..........

  • Oh so many good memories. The one that comes to mind is Nell Gywnes in New York City over by Grand Central Station East side Yeah. Can't stop the feeling. Thanks for posting Angel590

  • The full, REAL deal. For years, I've had Parts 1 and 2 separately on a mix tape, but I've never heard this seamlessly until now. And of course, NO overdubbed hand claps.
