  • is there any way to summon cthulhu in your dreams?

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • Fine work!

  • You should get more intricate with the architectiral design of ryleh (pardon the fact that i most likely misspelled that) in this animation. Its described as being beyond imaginable and no man couldve created. Like no right angles and stuff

  • pretty damn awesome i wish it was abit long to put to Metallica's 'call of ktulu'

  • Cthulhu is much bigger than that.

He was able to stand in really deep water and his waist was above the water.

  • er, dude... it's an interpretation. :)

  • As a matter of fact Cthulhu can be much bigger than that, much smaller than that, or the way hes shown here. He can take any size as he likes.

  • @00Kirby0 Cthulu is miles tall son

  • @00Kirby0 To be precise, Cthulhu can change it's size.

  • I bought this character many years ago, and I look forward to animating him/IT in a future 3D movie. Just testing the posing and firefly renderings of Cthulhu in Poser 6 was cool. Did an awesome job creating Cthulhu! Cool creature. Props to ya ;-}

  • I wonder if cthulhu can beat the big ass monster from the mist or the clover field monster

  • of course, it's the Cthulu, Priest of the Old Ones

  • cthulhu can kill anything... except for chuck norris

  • Or better yet "GODZILLA!!!"

  • Looked cool, wish it was longer. However, Cthulhu resides under the ocean floor, not in an ancient above ground temple. Still cool looking though.

  • Well, it was just a test of a figure we were releasing for Poser users. Trust me: I wish I had the time and funding to do some long form stuff with him and LOT of others. Oh, and my though was that the little door thingy was kind of a "risen" piece of R'lyeh. Just an interpretation really, and loose one in good fun at that. Thanks for the comment. -Les

  • True, but in Call Of Cthulhu (the story he appears in), Cthulhu's city rises to the surface of the ocean, and he is released from an ancient tomb by a group of sailors.

  • True enough. It was all in good fun though. -Les

  • Wow that was pretty good.

  • Nice work!;):)

  • How about a longer vid, and make this higher in detail and resolution too. Let us tour the whole place for a few minutes before letting Cthulhu come out.

  • thats badass

  • even though cthulhu wont rise that was thats the was he should rise hahaha looks AWSOME!!

  • dont mean to be a wet blanket, but Cthulhu was encased in a monolithic tower. Dead Cthulhu waits dreaming

  • damn that was sick wheres test #2 :P

  • Can we see a high quality version of this, please? :)

  • Sorry to take so long getting to some of the comments lately...

  • pretty epic, makes me want a cthulhu video game.

  • hey wat animation did u use

  • Everything was built in Maya, textured in Zbrush, rigged, animated and rendered using Poser Pro, then comped and effects work added in After Effects.

  • You need to be making more, right now! This time a full 30 minute story, where Cthulhu comes out and kicks some ass!

  • ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn

  • Iai! Iai! Hastur! Cthulhu R'lyeh Fhtagn!!! :)

  • Good work my brother, the sign of Voor.

  • That is not dead which can eternal lie yet with strange aeons even death may die

  • yo quite good but all of ya make the same mistake with the wings (degenerated)

  • very cool ;)

  • with some graphic perks and some fixing up this would fit a game

  • Ahh, i see cool, nice idea. Sorta a summening pit. :D

  • Well i like it a lot your cthulhu is by far the best i have seen. It fits Lovecraf's description perfectly. My version of cthulhu is more comic book style but am not done whit it yet. Are those spikes and poles the ancient city R'lyeh?

  • Thanks. It's sort of a gateway more than anything... sort of meant just to imply an idea that there's more beyond.

  • dude you could make videos about cthulhu and make him destroy citys and other things. and if you ok it with the right people, you may actulaly make money off this

  • Thanks alot! Because of our business, we've actually been in contact with some of the folks from Chaosium and received their blessing on our figures, just in case of any issues. The designs are our interpretations, and most Lovecraft canon is open for that anyway. Thanks again! :)

  • Oh yeah... it was modeled in mostly in Maya, with extra sculpting and texturing in Zbrush. This animation was actually done, for the most part, out of Poser 7, with the sky, rain and lightning added in After Effects.

  • Really nicely done! Could you post some concept art or something, cos i like your work and what prog. did you use.

P.S. Keep it up you got great skill and talent.

  • I do have the concept art here somewhere for it... will have to dig that up. :)

  • This is very good! But are you going to make a video that is a bit longer? I want to see the model a bit longer, if that is within your ability.

  • I would like to, but it's really just a matter of how much time I can budget for non-paying projects. :(

  • cool...

  • nice , you could make a virtual lovecraft novel ,

  • holy fucking shit!

    that thing freaks me out...

    sooo fucking good work bud

  • finally, someone made cthulhu look fucking decent!

  • Thanks! Labor of love :)

  • nice dude, where can i check some close pictures of the creature??

    cheers

  • love it dude

are you making a full length thing?

btw how big is cthulhu? never read the book but have read WIKI lol

  • If I had a budget. If only... :) I would love to do a full-on Cthulhu movie, but we're tied up in other projects right now, and it would take more budget than we have. The character in this piece is somewhere around 40ft. tall. I don't think there is a real sizing of him in the original stories from Lovecraft so it's just kind of personal interpretation.

  • i love a monster that makes you scared just looking up at it(i am afraid of hights to the point where if i look up at something HUGE it gives me a bit of fear lol)

  • Same here. heheh.. I knew Cloeverfield wouldn't be Cthulhu, but it had some of the effect I would have wanted... too bad too: they could have just inserted Cthulhu right into the plot and ran with it. Would have been perfect.

  • Les, you should post more of this type of thing. very cool!

  • u should make an animated movie about it....it be fun to watch

  • That is incredible... Well done!!!

  • I always imagined that cthulhu would, you know... tear his way out and rip open a door, rather than one just opening. but heh, to each his own.

  • sexy well done.

  • Thanks. The character was a lot of fun to build and animate.

  • I like your figures, and I've bought a few;-)

  • they must of made this on a oblivion system.

  • looks like a PS2 game.

  • Not sure I understand the comment, but hey, at least you checked it out. :)
