Nice one mate! I've only just started playing bass, and I was at the pub tonight and heard this song and thought it had a cool bass line and I must learn to play it. And now here I am. I have a question though, if I may. You seem to rest your thumb on the E string while strumming, are you really resting it on the pick up, or the E string, and if on the string is this a technique to mute that string? Sorry man, I'm a total beginner with bass, so if this is a dumb question, I'm sorry. =)

I know it's from 2008 but I good two things which could help you to play better bass... You somtimes use just the forefinger to play. I know that this is easy to break this habit ;) (I'm a german one, sry) And don't look at the frets all the time, you hear if the tune is wrong. Just to tipps from another bassist to play better.

You are good mate, but still you need to feel the funk before you can play it, dont get me wrong you play it pretty good, but still it sounds a bit robotic, like you cant feel the rhythm in fingers :))))

I agree. It's sloppy. Looking at the fretboard and using (looks like) only one string are both killers for the rhythm feel. That's my experience.

Hey man, great song for a beginner. I have a suggestion too. Instead of sliding up and down the neck like your masturbating it, use the other strings.

Add 5 to the number of frets you would play it on the A string to play it on the E string. Ex: 3rd fret on the A string = 8th fret on the E string.

If you want to play a higher part on a smaller string such as the D or G strings, take away 5 from the number of frets.
