  • In Soviet Russia, the Commiedore 64's use you.

  • lol i love them days when i was 5--- could have only imagined the stuff we got now

  • With inflation, $595 is equal to about $1300 today. Note that the ad price doesn't include the monitor, floppy drive, etc... All that $595 includes was the computer/keyboard box, as pictured. So yeah, computers are definitely much cheaper today.

  • What's outstanding performing about this is that this thing had a 12 year lifespan, longer then the 8-bit NES, and even longer then the PS2.

  • It could be... but it wasn't.. and Shearson - American Express will call their own mother a whore for a dollar...

  • New C=64 coming out with dual core Atom Processor, in old school retro case. commodoreusa net

  • @furetgarcon funny you say that, the commodore 64 is also older than I am and instead of asking for an xbox for Xmas I asked for a commodore 64!

  • I want a c64 even though if i got one the machine is older then me.... ahhahaa

  • My calculator will eat one of them for breakfast... How times have changed.

  • @philbot01 But your calculator cant play Turrican.

  • @bazfanv2 Or Master Of Magic, Spellbound, Treasure Island Dizzy, Bomb Jack, Sanxion, Uridium, The Last Ninja, Monty On The Run, Commando, Green Beret, or even Elite!

  • HAHA!!! i beat you commodore!!!! all i had to do was wait 28 years and now i can get you for $50!!!!!!! Yes! im so lucky

  • All you need is A C64 with the game Cliffhanger and you can die in peace. :)

  • RAMBO FTW

  • This computer is from 1982. Seriously now. You really think they had things cheaper?

FYI, eMachines is fail, and "160G" Doesn't define a computer. OS?(Vista, I assume) CPU, GPU?

  • just a few years ago, computers were over $600. you're making a bad comparison anyway.

  • I can't believe these retards making comparisons ffs.

  • Well, you got jipped my friend. You should have saved up and bought a used commodore 64.

  • Yeah and this is almost 30 years ago.

  • 595$... consider that a 1982 dollar is roughly the value of 2,5 2008 dollars, so that would make it a 1500$ computer today.

  • 64k ftw

  • funny to think that during that time the commodore was outstanding in performance, isn't it?

  • @rissehx3 my phone has better power than that

  • @ThePresD But your phone doesnt have over 10000 software titles.

  • @bazfanv2 uh yes actully there called apps and i can get over 10 billion

  • In advertising, sometimes simpler is better. I think these 15-second spots were used in broadcasts like the CBS newsbreak.

  • When you look back at these C64 ads they do seem very amateurish. It's no wonder they went down with crap marketing like that.

  • from wikipedia:

By the end of this conflict, Commodore had shipped somewhere around 22 million C64s—making the C64 the best selling computer of all time—and in the process, drove TI out of the home-computer market, almost destroyed Atari, bankrupted most smaller companies, and wiped out its own savings. Tramiel's motto, "Business is war," had taken its toll.

It wasnt until later during the amiga era they started to mess up

  • I stand corrected.

  • Whoa... $595 U.S. Dollars!!! The original Playstation 3. My old AppleIIe cost less I think.

  • And now you can get an Eee PC for about $400.

    What a world! :D

  • It doesn't take an old guy to feel old after a decade of pc advances. I still can't believe I'll never read "For windows '98 or higher" on my new games.

  • I can still remember clearly all the commercials for Hot Wheels and Barbie games from the 90s saying "For Windows 95 or higher".

  • ps3 was $700 when it first came out

  • i adore commodore!

  • Love the comment at the end.
