I love this scene in Lego Star Wars II after Vader confronts the commander and leaves the commander cries on the shoulder of another officer. so sad but very funny
JSSTrumpet09, I just want to point out for shiggles how flat the lead trumpet is at 0:30, and how he hangs the release to boot. I've always found this funny.
Dude, do you have any idea how enormous a galaxy is? Even with Earth's moon, one could find the materials so that he could build a Death Star.
Constructing a moon-sized space station is child's play for the GALACTIC Empire--its resources are virtually limitless, for it holds the entire galaxy!
Here he comes the dark lord himself Lord Darth David Prowse the actor of Darth Vader at 3:53 in this video with the voice acting talents of James Earl Jones.
Darth Vader didn't bring the Executor because the Galactic Emperor himself utililized it to travel to Endor. This was a scene which the producers of ROTJ had planned on including, however it was dropped during the final stages of film production for some odd reason of which I've forgotten.
According to the Shadows of the Empire TPB, Vader did indeed bring the Executor to Endor. (Then again, the CCG mentions that the Destroyer seen front and center @ 2:25 is Thunderflare, so that can't be right.) And the Emperor traveled to Endor onboard a C-3 Passenger liner named Excalibur.
no one there has a green uniform...I think you mean grey. The different colors most likely have some different rank or something. And about the executor, he probobly just didn't want to cart the thing across the galaxy.
These are people who are the stormtroopers are from real 501st Legion Garrison Costuming Club Legions from all over the united states even try looking it up on google if no one believes me.
@aquarius21192 Can you imagine if Vader had arrived in the Executor that opening overhead destroyer shot would have lasted 3 minutes and 18 seconds instead of just 18 seconds! That would have been insane.
It took the Empire almost 20 years to build the 1st Death Star, and they give this new commander just 3~4 years to build one twice as big... he did a good job if you ask me.
Darn those pesky rebels for destroying all that hardwork
When Darth Vader said that the Emperor was going to visit the Second Death Star, the commander's attitude was similar to a worker's attitude. Usually, a worker gets scared when the boss decides to take a look to the worker's job.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yes... Imagine how many times Darth Vader had to look for another person for the job (commander, general, etc). It would be rare to find an Imperial Commander/General who had lived from episode 4 to 6.
The track after the crawl is actually called "Approaching the Death Star", you can find it in the Return of the Jedi soundtrack...and in Empire at War but then I used it in a scene of my movie! It's a good track I really enjoyed this opening scene every time I watch it.
The song at the end of the clip is called Imperial March, but the music from the whole clip would just be the opening title on the Return of the Jedi soundtrack.
The deathstar was the secret weapon of the geonosian for the fight against the republic. well unfortunately the grand army of the republic and nosey obiwan kinda changed the course of action. The genosian leader handed the plan of the deathstar to count dooku since geonosia fall.
The Emperor is the supreme leader of the galaxy, and rarely leaves Coruscant. When he does, it is an occasion for pomp and circumstance. Lord Vader on the other hand, is the day-to-day commander of Imperial forces and his visit to the Death Star is less unusual and less remarkable. Remember how excited the Rebels were when they learned that he would be there personally? It is not a common thing for the Emperor to leave his palace.
It is some great music, although I'm partial to Empire Strikes Back as the best opening music, mainly the eerie music of the imperial probes being deployed, leading into the Luke Skywalker theme on Hoth. Great stuff.
saw all 3 in the cinema, was in the first lot to see Star Wars in NZ back in 77 - and that opening sequence with the star destroyer passing overhead is still the best scene I've ever seen to open a movie.
Yeah, but they were kinda big for there... anyhow, the Empire would've won that battle if they'd corrected one VERY simple thing:
during the land battle all the Empire actually needed to do for victory WAS TO KEEP THOSE DAMN BLAST DOORS SHUT! IF DONE, THE DEATH STAR WOULD'VE NOT BEEN DESTROYED BY REBEL FLEET, BECAUSE THE SHIELD WOULD'VE REMAINED OPERATIONAL.
Yes,Ian McDiarmid played the emperor in both the original and prequel trilogies. he was not the actor who appear originally as the emperor in the empire strikes back, but in the re-release Lucas added McDiarmid as Palpatine, so he plays them in all the movies.
Yeah I was watching the re-realease the other day on HBO and I knew that him mainly because they changed the lines and the face. But I couldn't tell with the voices from Episode III and Return of the Jedi. Thanks for the quick reply!
What an introduction! When I first saw this (obviously before the prequels) that made me think how awesome the Emperor must have been - and it turned out he was.
If it were Grand Admiral Thrawn in command at the Battle of Endor, the Empire would have still proudly ruled, with the Rebel dissidents crushed.
Anyway, I love the opening scene, thanks for sharing.

Black Uniform: Stormtrooper officer
Grey Uniform: Army or Naval officer
Green: utility personal for army, or naval forces.

redremenant 3 years ago

because vader was probably aboard that star destroyer instedad of being aboard the executor
CONCERTCHOIR6 3 years ago
To give a "in-story" and less obvious answer Vader was on a mission directly from the emperor to "persuade" JerJerrod to "motivate" his troops
The SSD Executor was probably on patrol with the death squadron so vader travelled with a standard ISD.
