  • If it were Grand Admiral Thrawn in command at the Battle of Endor, the Empire would have still proudly ruled, with the Rebel dissidents crushed.

Anyway, I love the opening scene, thanks for sharing.

  • I remember being 8 and watching this in the theater. No movie ever compared. Ever.

  • The Emperor's not as forgiving as I am! - Vaders best line in all 3 movies!

  • Target has a shirt that says "Vadar's coming! Look busy!" it always reminds me of this scene LOL

  • Fuck the Rebels, I will join the Galactic Empire and rule a fucking sector, if you know what I mean....

  • Beat opening scene ever!

  • I love this scene in Lego Star Wars II after Vader confronts the commander and leaves the commander cries on the shoulder of another officer. so sad but very funny

  • excellent quality, the originals were all ways the best thanx for posting !!!

  • I have never noticed the TIE Bomber at the left at 3:27... o.O

  • @zanzalot That isn't a TIE Bomber. It is Vader's personal fighter as this is Vader's personal docking bay.

  • what is the name of the actor who plays the commander in this scene??

  • Comment removed

  • Excellent quality.

  • JSSTrumpet09, I just want to point out for shiggles how flat the lead trumpet is at 0:30, and how he hangs the release to boot. I've always found this funny.

Love the Star Wars OT btw.

  • i love the way the imperia commander reacts to the whole situation, hes literally shitting himself

  • This should have been the LAST one made. Forget the "first" three. The original three stand out.

  • @cochranexyz Yes I understand but we had to know what happen! The CGI just ruined everthing.

  • The use of CGI is just fine by me. It's just when it is overused that it becomes a problem.

Remember that scene at Dax's in AOTC? WTF was up with that? Does Lucas truly believe that the masses would have liked to watch that BS?

  • Dude, do you have any idea how enormous a galaxy is? Even with Earth's moon, one could find the materials so that he could build a Death Star.

Constructing a moon-sized space station is child's play for the GALACTIC Empire--its resources are virtually limitless, for it holds the entire galaxy!

  • one guess---Raxus Prime had lots of materials for all kinds of stations, ships, etc.

  • Concertchoir57

Here he comes the dark lord himself Lord Darth David Prowse the actor of Darth Vader at 3:53 in this video with the voice acting talents of James Earl Jones.

  • Darth Vader didn't bring the Executor because the Galactic Emperor himself utililized it to travel to Endor. This was a scene which the producers of ROTJ had planned on including, however it was dropped during the final stages of film production for some odd reason of which I've forgotten.

  • According to the Shadows of the Empire TPB, Vader did indeed bring the Executor to Endor. (Then again, the CCG mentions that the Destroyer seen front and center @ 2:25 is Thunderflare, so that can't be right.) And the Emperor traveled to Endor onboard a C-3 Passenger liner named Excalibur.

  • why did Vader not use the Executor instead he only used a regular star Destoyer and why are some officers have black uniforms and others green?

  • no one there has a green uniform...I think you mean grey. The different colors most likely have some different rank or something. And about the executor, he probobly just didn't want to cart the thing across the galaxy.

  • Black Uniform: Stormtrooper officer

Grey Uniform: Army or Naval officer

Green: utility personal for army, or naval forces.

The control operators in black, they are wearing the naval uniform of privates and non-commissioned officers.

  • Concertchoir57

These are people who are the stormtroopers are from real 501st Legion Garrison Costuming Club Legions from all over the united states even try looking it up on google if no one believes me.

  • @aquarius21192 Can you imagine if Vader had arrived in the Executor that opening overhead destroyer shot would have lasted 3 minutes and 18 seconds instead of just 18 seconds! That would have been insane.

    And Awesome :-)

  • Darth Vader: 'You may dispense with the pleasantries commander. I'm here to put you back on schedule.'

Translation: 'Get your nose out of my ass, and get back to work.' I loved the opening for this movie. Thanks for sharing.

  • Concertchoir57 the phrase is said by the voice talent of James Earl Jones who also played mufasa in Disney's The Lion King #1

  • @DBarns7 LMAO very true

  • Who is that actor who plays the death star commander? I think i have seen him in another Lucas movie, but i cant remember where.... oh well.

  • It took the Empire almost 20 years to build the 1st Death Star, and they give this new commander just 3~4 years to build one twice as big... he did a good job if you ask me.

Darn those pesky rebels for destroying all that hardwork

  • @dmari917 wonder if the emporer had to pull a loan out for that death star, (see robot chicken for that reference.)

  • sorry for that!

good on you for not allowing your dyslexia to stop you from posting comments!

  • too funny! you're english is very poor for an englishman!

    lol :)

  • I hope so for your sake.. YouTube is as not as foregiving as I am...

  • When Darth Vader said that the Emperor was going to visit the Second Death Star, the commander's attitude was similar to a worker's attitude. Usually, a worker gets scared when the boss decides to take a look to the worker's job.

  • Especially one who will kill you if you don't do your work correctly.

  • Je l'écoute quand j'étais petit en français.

  • it is kind of a rule in scifi that anything imperial must be personified by an English actor. pretty cool.

  • its coz us english are seen as the bad guys to the americans for ages, ever since the revolution :P

  • Its because they're features, body language, and voice, give the watcher a feeling of distinct intelligent militarism.

  • we shall double are efforts!

  • Your just angry that your Boyfriend JaJa isn't in it.

  • Imperial Shuttle--My favorite ship.

  • My favourite game is the Empire at War.:)

  • empire at war with mods is amazing

  • The track after the crawl is actually called "Approaching the Death Star", you can find it in the Return of the Jedi soundtrack...and in Empire at War but then I used it in a scene of my movie! It's a good track I really enjoyed this opening scene every time I watch it.

  • Thank you. My favourite song is the Imperial March!-Dark Side Theme (Darth Vader's Theem?)

    :)

  • What is the last song name?

  • The song at the end of the clip is called Imperial March, but the music from the whole clip would just be the opening title on the Return of the Jedi soundtrack.

  • The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am. BADASS

Question, why did Vader's shuttle disembark from a regular stardestroyer than the Executor?

  • Concertchoir6

because vader was probably aboard that star destroyer instedad of being aboard the executor

  • To give a "in-story" and less obvious answer Vader was on a mission directly from the emperor to "persuade" JerJerrod to "motivate" his troops

The SSD Executor was probably on patrol with the death squadron so vader travelled with a standard ISD.

  • Darth is the *most awesome* Project Manager I've ever seen! :-) This scene made me ROFL ... will be using for 'motivational meetings' from now on!!

    Thanks for making it available!

  • Concertchoir4

The name of that imperial shuttle is the Lambda Shuttle

  • The deathstar was the secret weapon of the geonosian for the fight against the republic. well unfortunately the grand army of the republic and nosey obiwan kinda changed the course of action. The genosian leader handed the plan of the deathstar to count dooku since geonosia fall.

  • so that is why the emperor gets a full army

  • so that is why the emperor gets a full army

  • so that is why the emperor gets a full army

  • How come Darth Vader get 15 officers and a squadron of stormtroopers while the emperor gets a full army

  • Because thats the emperor, An old man who can barely swing his lightsaber (if he had one) Vader can at least pwn a whole army of rebels.

  • not rlly...in rots both yoda n the emperor were in the golden years yut swung there sabers faster dan vader, obi wan, luke or any of em

  • The Emperor is the supreme leader of the galaxy, and rarely leaves Coruscant. When he does, it is an occasion for pomp and circumstance. Lord Vader on the other hand, is the day-to-day commander of Imperial forces and his visit to the Death Star is less unusual and less remarkable. Remember how excited the Rebels were when they learned that he would be there personally? It is not a common thing for the Emperor to leave his palace.

  • If I were the commander, standing there waiting for the ramp to lower.. I'd be thinking retirement.

  • hahahahhahahaha

  • 3:40 - I love the look of pure terror on the Imperial officer prior to Vader's entrance

  • It has been said by many people but still it is a good comment.

  • In my opinion, Return of the Jedi has the best opening music in the entire series. A great way to end the saga.

  • It is some great music, although I'm partial to Empire Strikes Back as the best opening music, mainly the eerie music of the imperial probes being deployed, leading into the Luke Skywalker theme on Hoth. Great stuff.

  • the special effects look awesome

  • yeah, it's even better than some of this modern excessive CGI stuff.

  • Vader's best entrance with the best music, in my opinion.

  • it IS the real movie, dickwad

  • "Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them." Can you imagin your boss saying that? That would get anyone to get back to work!

  • "The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am."

Yeah, and Vader is sooooo forgiving...

  • Haha he sure is forgiving compared to Palpatine...

  • Moff Jerjerrod shit himself hahaha

  • Still best seen in a theater.

  • I wish I could've seen it in cinema. They should bring it back!

  • saw all 3 in the cinema, was in the first lot to see Star Wars in NZ back in 77 - and that opening sequence with the star destroyer passing overhead is still the best scene I've ever seen to open a movie.

  • he still needed more personel to meet the deadline.

  • God i wish that the Empire had won the war. The rebellion are a bunch of pussies.

  • Amen to that. The Empire really should have won anyway. Long Live the Emperor!

  • I know. Like the AT-ATs should've helped on the defense on Endor.

  • George W. Bush and Dick Cheney Rule! USA USA USA USA USA USA! They should have beaten those towelheaded Ewoks! God, I love power.

  • Yeah, but they were kinda big for there... anyhow, the Empire would've won that battle if they'd corrected one VERY simple thing:

during the land battle all the Empire actually needed to do for victory WAS TO KEEP THOSE DAMN BLAST DOORS SHUT! IF DONE, THE DEATH STAR WOULD'VE NOT BEEN DESTROYED BY REBEL FLEET, BECAUSE THE SHIELD WOULD'VE REMAINED OPERATIONAL.

  • Yeah, and there wouldn't be a movie

  • Actually there would be a movie, but not with a "good" ending.

  • Does anyone else think Darth Vader looks best in this movie? His helmet shines like hell.

  • Hell yeah he does. It's also because they made his suit perfect by the last movie. If you look in each his face shield is a little different.

  • Yes, I think Vader looked not so good in A New Hope, the helmet looked... Weird. It was a huge improvement in Empire strickes back.

  • In A New Hope his costume didn't have shoulder guards, which made his head look too big. Not to mention no shine to his helmet.

  • Now I've heard the Emperor is played by the same actor in the newer movies as he is in the old ones. Is that true?

  • Yes,Ian McDiarmid played the emperor in both the original and prequel trilogies. he was not the actor who appear originally as the emperor in the empire strikes back, but in the re-release Lucas added McDiarmid as Palpatine, so he plays them in all the movies.

  • Yeah I was watching the re-realease the other day on HBO and I knew that him mainly because they changed the lines and the face. But I couldn't tell with the voices from Episode III and Return of the Jedi. Thanks for the quick reply!

  • "the emperor is not as forgiving as i am" considering how his forgiving someone ususally comes after breaking their neck, thats a very scary though.

  • "The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am."

What an introduction! When I first saw this (obviously before the prequels) that made me think how awesome the Emperor must have been - and it turned out he was.

  • If you took "I need more men" on a different scale, it would be a really funny line. But I won't make the joke, just pointing it out.

  • lol

  • Best star wars intro in my book.

  • No way. "A New Hope" opening is way better. :D

  • Well, A New Hope does begin with a space battle, but this one begins with Vader and cool music.

  • agreed! Episode IV opening was much better. Great in surround sound too
