conclusion at 6:47 How can you say that the words spoken by God to Abraham existed "as Scripture" before they were spoken? Did you intend to use the word "scripture" to mean both the written works themselves and the events they record?
@Works101abel Yes, I believe your conclusion is valid. Read Gal 3:8, "And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed." Gal 3:8
Also, we know that events and indeed heaven and earth are upheld by the word of His power (Heb 1:3, Luke 4:32).
@AC You assume what you have been asked to prove; namely, that your org is the Church. That is the fallacy of petitio principii.
The Bible gives binding and loosing to all who believe in Jesus (Matt 18:18). In v21 it says THEN PETER CAME so Jesus was not speaking to him in v18, but "the disciples" (v.1). V.19 says the Cc must agree with Christians outside itself for God to do it.
Furthermore, the idea that you or anyone can make stuff up and 'bind it', i.e. make it true, is "teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." (Matt 15:9, Mk 7:7)
This is easily proven. Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6) and He changes not (Heb 13:8, Mal 3:6). The Word of God (the Bible, Heb 4:12, 2 Cor 4:2) is the Truth (John 17:17) and it cannot in truth be added to or taken away from (Psalm 119:89, Rev 22:18-19).
My young Apprentice, you made a big mistake when you put on the hat. You were never authorized to do so. Can you at least let my exact comment stand for your viewers? Thanks.
@Enoch2 states, "The RCC was not given authority over all churches."
Firstly, there are no other churches. Christ has a Church, one Church. Do you think he established a few on a trial basis in case his original failed because the believers didn't like the rules?
Secondly, The Holy Catholic Church is built on St. Peter, the first bishop of Rome. He was crucified there and there his bones remain, ironically beneath the basilica named after him. Rome is known as the Holy See.
@TheChurchAuthentic The RCC was not given authority over all churches. Each church established is to elect its own bishops, deacons, preachers & teachers & each True Church of Christ has as Angel appointed, just as Revelations the 7 stars are Angels of 7 candlesticks= churches & head of all is Jesus-not another church. Jesus could've written 1 letter & sent to Rome if considered authorative. Other churches asked for assistance in cases concerning doctrine, not for authorative reasons. PeaceB2Ya
@Enoch2 claims, "The BIBLE interpreted by the HOLY SPIRIT."
Which Holy Spirit? Your Holy Spirit or Bashoff's Holy Spirit? I'm a new Christian and I have to pick one. Bashoff looks like a prophet and he's very persuasive. Wait a minute-- there are thousands of others out there. Where do I start? I have to join other believers, but who?
Christ told us to hear the Church under pain of condemnation, and he could not in justice, command us to hear a Church that could not be SEEN and KNOWN.
@TheChurchAuthentic You wrote, "He could not in justice, command us to hear a Church that could not be SEEN and KNOWN."
"(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)" 2 Cor 5:7
The true Church is all those born again through faith in Christ alone. We have a remarkable unity because we are indwelt by the Spirit of unity. It's spiritual not institutional. As for 'which' Holy Spirit, there is only One--but many lying spirits (1 Jn 4:1-3). How to grow in truth? John 8:31-36.
All those "born again through faith in Christ alone" do not have unity. They don't even have the same name (denomination). So tell me, how can I contact this spiritual "true Church"? Any website, skype, address? Oh, I forgot-- "not by sight". You're very good at dispensing bible verses and preaching over God's shoulder. I, myself did it for years .
The real address of the real Church is: St. Peter's Sq., Vatican City, or go to your nearest Catholic Church.
@TCA Mocking and scorn is not God's Way. 1Tim 3:15 does say that God is the ground and pillar of the truth. Also, the church, b/c she is the Bride. Christ is in her and so she has this role--not to make things up but to stand on His Word, the Bible.
The issue is, you erroneously identify the institution of the Catholic church with the Church of the Living God. I asked you to show how you know 'sacred tradition' is not corrupt--that's when you started making distractions.
@Enoch2 still insists that 1Tim 3:15 reads, "God is the.."
Ye blind guides. You deserve mocking and scorn. The Holy Catholic Church is a new creation, the Bride of Christ, born from his Holy Mother at the foot of the cross--from the New Adam and the New Eve. Don't you dare call her an institution. And you never asked TCA that question, you asked @Archangel777Catholic "And what I'm saying is, how do you know so-called Sacred Tradition is not a corrupt tradition? So I didn't depart as you say.
@TheChurchAuthentic I didn't change the words, you aren't understanding spiritually.
"But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth." 1 Tim 3:15
Grammatically, this verse says that God AND the church of the living God is the pillar and ground of the truth.
And I did ask you how you know so-called Sacred tradition is not corrupt, b4 I asked him.
@E So God is the pillar and ground of the truth, and His Church b/c He indwells His Church. His church includes all those who believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ entirely sufficient for their salvation, alone. All such individuals have His Spirit dwelling in them (Rom 8:9), and that's why they as one are called the pillar and ground of the truth. Not because of them but because of God in them (Jn 17). So the true church is the body of believers, known to God who sees hearts.
@Enoch2 chides, " Mocking and scorn is not God's Way."
You don't know your bible, son. Consider Elijah on Mt. Carmel.
"At noon Elijah began to taunt them. “Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened". (1Kings 18:27).
and,
"The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them" (Psalm 2:4).
@TCA Yes, you're right, mocking & scorn can be part of righteous judgement. But you were speaking of the Holy Spirit, as if man could not know Him by coming to Jesus through faith in His Word.
There are many false, just as prophesied for this last time, but those who love God know Him (1 Cor 8:3).
"Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." Jn 14:17
Enoch2 asks, " Which bark, the bark of him who denied Christ or his who confessed Him?"
The man is both, and was appointed by Christ to be the Rock on which He would build his Church. No pope is impeccable, but infallible when speaking 'ex cathedra' for the Universal Church on matters of faith and morals. There's a good reason for this. Our Lord doesn't want any error in his spotless Bride so that the lambs will have green pastures.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and truth is found in the Holy Catholic Church.
Abandon your animosity toward the Church of Christ so that "you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the Church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of truth" (1Tim 3:15). Truth is in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. She is the pillar, i.e., she holds up the truth and the bulwark, i.e., she protects and shelters the truth, both since AD 33--Believe the bible!
@Enoch2 In fact, in 1 Tim 3:15, it is GOD who is the ground and pillar of the Truth, Christ. To say that your denomination holds up the Truth and shelters the Truth is worship of a church in place of God. And since a church (true or false) is Biblically symbolised by the figure of a woman, this is goddess worship. From this we see that the Mary of the Roman Catholics is really their own church that they pray to, serve and bow down to (Exodus 20:4-5). Ashtoreth and 'Queen of Heaven'.
1Tim 3:15 is plain for all to see, you can't alter it. You would be better off if the bible remained chained to the ambo. I had a vision after I read your response. It was a scene from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" where M. Mouse has a book in one hand, a wand in the other and what he conjures up gets out of control. He had no authority to use the book. He wanted to control things around him to alleviate what he was told to do--serve. Someone else lived by that motto, "Non serviam".
@TheChurchAuthentic I don't want to go on and on with this, but I will just say it's very simple. Put God first by putting the Bible first--we KNOW it's from God--and do God's will, and you will know sound doctrine. That's Jesus' promise!
"If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." John 7:17
Then you will find a good church to worship, study, and fellowship with other believers.
Funny, I was armed with the same verses and I knew how and when to use them to justify my position. I told you a year ago not to waste your time on me, cause I ain't movin'. I found a good church to worship, study and fellowship with other believers, St. Jane's. I really tried to be a born-again Christian but it didn't take. No one had any sure answers. No one could give me absolutes. In good conscience, I couldn't live like that.
@TCA I hear you say that when things didn't go at your speed, you turned to what you could grasp and men who gave you absolutes.
As you're Catholic, read Judith 7:23-25, 8:8-13 where she upbraids the men of her city for putting God on THEIR timetable!
Sure answers? 1 Cor 8:2. I know I'm growing IN the grace of God, understanding comes as Christ is formed in the believer (2 Pet 3:18). If you believe that Jesus saved you then you are born again too--return to the simple faith.
Jonathan, you've spent years degrading God's Holy Catholic Church. Now is the time. Receive this word manfully and know that it was delivered in a spirit of love.
Being born again is not just about belief in Christ. As the Early Church believed, baptism is the point at which a person was born again.
Actually, "again" is not the best term, as the Greek "anothen" is better translated "from above" or "anew".
Do you know how the EC understood John 3:5 - "Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God"?
"Baptism constitutes the foundation of communion among all Christians, including those who are not yet in full communion with the Catholic Church: "For men who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in some, though imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church. (con't)>>>
Justified by faith in Baptism, [they] are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers by the children of the Catholic Church." 81 "Baptism therefore constitutes the sacramental bond of unity existing among all who through it are reborn." 82
@TheChurchAuthentic "And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD." Jer 9:3
@TheChurchAuthentic A vision of the Catholic church, a mix of the Book and heathen ways (the wand). BUT a little leaven leavens the whole lump. An advocate of the Cc accuses others of wanting to control things? From John 8:44, "When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own..."
"Feed my sheep" and "preach the Word"! The Cc instead feeds the world and preaches everything from humanism to aliens to evolution...but not the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
It should be noted that "Roman" was added to the name Catholic by the deformers in the 16th c. in order to distance themselves from Rome. Prior to
the apostasy, we were Catholics way back to the 2nd c.AD because Gnostics hijacked our name "Christian" which we were first called at Antioch. Before that we were simply known as "The Way", or the "Sect of the Nazarenes" by the Jews. It's our One, Holy, Catholic & Apostolic Church in 1Tim3:15.
@TheChurchAuthentic Which bark, the bark of him who denied Christ or his who confessed Him?
You quoted 2Thess 2:15 "...hold the traditions which ye have been taught, WHETHER BY WORD, OR OUR EPISTLE."
Look a bit earlier (v.2): "That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, NOR BY WORD, NOR BY LETTER AS FROM US..."
So there is true teaching/tradition, and also false that claims apostolic authority. How to discern which is which? The BIBLE interpreted by the HOLY SPIRIT.
@Enoch2 If I am not mistaken, I believe you are addressing the difference between Sacred Tradition (as taught by the Apostles) and the traditions of men so oft reputed by Christ and the Church. Otherwise, your argument is very similar in nature.
We are told in the verses that you quoted to hold onto Sacred Tradition (traditions taught by the Apostles) and Sacred Scripture (the Apostles' writings). However, as in the other verse you show, we are told not to be shaken by anything written
@TheChurchAuthentic I was referring to just the unwritten or at least the extra-biblical portions of the Word of God as opposed to the Holy Bible when I used the term. Sorry if it caused confusion, none intended.
The confusion is mine. I am sorry. I thought I was responding to @Enoch2 not you, and your comment didn't make much sense to me, as I thought it was from him.
@Enoch2 (cont.) or taught. These verses clarly reference wrintings "as" but not theirs. We are warned to avoid false writings, etc. but NEVER Sacred Tradition.
@Archangel777Catholic And what I'm saying is, how do you know so-called Sacred Tradition is not a corrupt tradition put in place by heathen impostors. Only by the Bible understood by the Holy Spirit who is given to all them that believe in Jesus Christ, His death for our sins according to the Scriptures, His burial, and His Resurrection the third day according to the Scriptures--as the sole and entire basis for one's own salvation.
@TheChurchAuthentic The Holy Spirit is the Living Interpreter of the Holy Scriptures. The Holy Spirit is God whereas your church is not. Infallibility is evidence of sinlessness (Job 28:28) and none of your popes or councils have yet been that!
"But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him." 1 Jn 2:27
I am in the bark of St. Peter. My faith is in Jesus Christ and I believe in One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, which was given all authority by Christ himself. The Holy Sciptures belong to the Holy Catholic Church, their living, authoritative and rightful interpreter.
@TheChurchAuthentic Thanks for watching. However, there's a big problem with what you wrote, and that is this: what is the link between the Scripture and the traditions it teaches, and the so-called "Sacred Tradition" of the Roman Catholic church? You simply identify them together but how do you know? This means your faith is in what the RCC tells you about God rather than what God has said to us by the prophets and His Son. That's a bad boat to be in.
"So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter" (2Thess 2:15).
"And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God" (1Thess 2:13).
Many today have the false notion teaching that the Incarnate Word Jesus Christ is one Word and the written Word is another. @polopowers1 Amen, your phrase "Jesus the Incarnate Word is the written Word when the Spirit is revealing" reminds me of this verse:
"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." John 6:63
It's Jesus's Word (the Scriptures) spoken unto us by the Lord (the Spirit of Christ) that is the Word of God.

@Enoch2
Take heart, all is not lost.
"Baptism constitutes the foundation of communion among all Christians, including those who are not yet in full communion with the Catholic Church: "For men who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in some, though imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church. (con't)>>>

@Enoch2 >>>(cont.)

No, the vision was definitely for you, TSA, definitely for you.

Slick, Enoch2, nice set-up, but no take down.

Enoch2 1 month ago
@Enoch2 If I am not mistaken, I believe you are addressing the difference between Sacred Tradition (as taught by the Apostles) and the traditions of men so oft reputed by Christ and the Church. Otherwise, your argument is very similar in nature.
We are told in the verses that you quoted to hold onto Sacred Tradition (traditions taught by the Apostles) and Sacred Scripture (the Apostles' writings). However, as in the other verse you show, we are told not to be shaken by anything written

@Archangel777Catholic
Sacred Tradition includes the word of God spoken and written.
TheChurchAuthentic 1 month ago
@TheChurchAuthentic I was referring to just the unwritten or at least the extra-biblical portions of the Word of God as opposed to the Holy Bible when I used the term. Sorry if it caused confusion, none intended.

@Archangel777Catholic
The confusion is mine. I am sorry. I thought I was responding to @Enoch2 not you, and your comment didn't make much sense to me, as I thought it was from him.

@TheChurchAuthentic No worries! God bless and good luck with your debate!

@Enoch2 (cont.) or taught. These verses clarly reference wrintings "as" but not theirs. We are warned to avoid false writings, etc. but NEVER Sacred Tradition.
Archangel777Catholic 1 month ago

TheChurchAuthentic 1 month ago
@TheChurchAuthentic Thanks for watching. However, there's a big problem with what you wrote, and that is this: what is the link between the Scripture and the traditions it teaches, and the so-called "Sacred Tradition" of the Roman Catholic church? You simply identify them together but how do you know? This means your faith is in what the RCC tells you about God rather than what God has said to us by the prophets and His Son. That's a bad boat to be in.
Enoch2 1 month ago
Sacred Tradition is the word of God.
