  • would like to know what the vitamin d blood levels were of these 'toxic' patients.. and if they were in fact experiencing symptoms of toxicity or simply had levels above optimal - which should suggest our optimal is too low!

  • ha I take 20,000 IU's a day (have been for 3 years now) and since I have started I haven't been sick once. People need to realize that Vitamin D is NOT a vitamin but rather a pro-hormone which regulates 3% of our genes. This regulation is critical in preventing epigenetic changes which give rise to out of control cell growth (cancer) as well as boosting our immune system.

  • @gonegolfn07 can i ask if you've had your blood levels checked recently? and what your levels were?

  • haha sanning talons hahahahahahahaha ah...i should grow up

  • Oh my! Vitamins are unregulated, and so is salon tanning! If only EVERYTHING was regulated what a perfect world it would be! How I LOVE the government! SAVE US O MIGHTY GOVERNMENT!!

  • Go to you tube project camelot and vitamin B3 watch the video as many times as you like! It is a German female doctor or naturo-path nice refreshing very smart very interesting and well versed on this subject with 8 years of research to back it up. To many benefits if y9u are older person you can't go wrong with 3-5K IU per day it has been given in dosages as high as 100,000 IU with no toxicity or side effects. One of those things that actually has benefits but too cheap for Big Pharma to study

  • I never understood it most whites hates and don't like black people , say this and that about blacks but , THEY ARE THE KINGS AND QUEENS ON GETTING AND WANTING TO GET BROWN , WOW !

  • Vitamin D toxicity via supplements IS possible. The reason for that might be a flaw in the quality assurance of the supplements you take. There's a story where a man took 2 million U.I. per day instead of 10000. He fully recovered.

The reason for that is the brand he was taking (it was actually his own brand) had a flaw in the quality assurance.

The best way to avoid that is to buy well known brands or the ones that have a large number of various supplements. Those get tested well.

  • he talks too fast. usually a sign for trying to cover up ignorance and uncertainty

  • Black people have a natural SPF of 8000? I'm black and I know that's not true! What a blimp head!

  • @godschildyes Yeh except your probably 1/8th and go around telling people your black because you think it makes you look tough. Then again maybe your not, my point is he is probably is talking about people that are REALLY dark. Not just brown. My g/f is only half Fijian and she can spend all day in the sun and not even get a little burnt. She's isn't that dark.

  • @2042nicky No friend! I am simply black. What does toughness have to do with how God made me? LOL That is too silly. What's the point w/your girlfriend? So what! I don't burn either! But 8000 SPF? Please! I don't try to read between the lines and create something out of nothing. I simply listen to the words that are coming out of a person's mouth. He said that "Black people have a natural SPF of 8000." That is enough to call him a blimp head. I'm glad you have a black girlfriend!

  • @godschildyes Ok a couple of things I would like to clarify with you my stupid friend ... some people think that telling other people they are 'black 'makes them appear tough, when in reality they are brown and perhaps the man in the video meant black literally. God isn't real (atleast not your crazy women and children murdering one). Your body wasn't 'made' by god, it was natural selection and evolution that created it, although it isn't perfect... as evident by your existence.

  • @2042nicky You should never have suggested that I think telling people I'm black makes me look tough. I'm sorry that you have run into people who do that. That is strange to me. The man in the video meant "blacks" as we are referred to in this country. We are not called "Browns" okay? lol Yes God is real and I was created by Him. All was created by Him and it is perfect in His sight. Truth is I don't care what you believe. If you have your mind made up who can change it and who cares.

  • @godschildyes My point with my girlfriend, you moron, is that, while some people such as yourself would classify her 'black', she is brown. Therefore before you start jumping to conclusions, how about you get this notion out of your head that when a person says black they actually mean everybody who isn't white. Can you honestly tell me you are as dark as somebody like Djimon Hounsou?

  • @2042nicky Again, in this country of America myself and your girlfriend would be classified as "Black" I am assuming you are a US citizen. The day we are referred to as "Browns" on a National level is the day I will look you up on you tube and eat humble pie. I know a lot of humans that are not white and I don't consider them black. lol Natives, Asians, Hispanics, the list goes on. Djimon Hounsou is an African.....We here in America are "Blacks" The guy on the vid meant what he said..

  • @godschildyes And before you reply, I know the gist of what you are going to say. Dissapointed with my behaviour and attitude, completely ignore everything I said, passively aggresive in a slightly naive and care free tone. Just for the record I never said I agree with this idiot in the video... I will read your reply but I won't respond so please make it entertaining for me. Then congratulate yourself on your cunning and wit. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

  • @2042nicky I don't care about your attitude and behavior. I'm not upset actually, I'm just to the point. I have not ignored anything that you have said as you can see and I have never been passive aggressive. "Blacks" are very direct people save a few. As for the guy in the vid., you are simply not accepting what he said. But here is the real truth. There is no on who has SPF of 8000 in there skin. It is medically impossible.. That is why this Dr. is a "Blimp Head". Take care friend..

  • Please check out my low vitamin d connection please!! It seems like there is a connection to my reactive hypoglycemia, and even a.d.d. I have studied because I have spend a long time trying to get healthy. Please watch my video and get back to me:)

  • Never Believe a State Dr they always lie or bend the truth so they can pump you full of their bad shit that gives you a million side effects so you can be dependent upon them for life and that ensures their over inflated pay packets....Hemp oil with THC cures nearly all diseases including Cancer they dont want you to have this medicine in case they become poor...For me a state Dr is worse than a Criminal...

  • This guy is a vitamin D noob. Sounds like he read up on it a day or two before the show. This kind of crap pisses me off.

  • Buy your vitamin D from iherb.com !!

Use promotioncode TAP511 to get -5$ discount from first order.

  • Classic propaganda from GE the military industrial complex !

VITAMIN D TOXICITY IS A LIE , notice that the last thing they leave you with is confusion and FEAR , vitamin D could take BILLIONS away from the corrupt pharma cabal

  • "OK my head is spinning. Get the fuck off my show!"

  • Is it best to take Vitamin D only in the winter time? I live in MI where theres barely ne sun during the winter months. However I get plents of sun in the summertime so would it only be good to take it in the winter time??

  • This "interview" is a total crock it's as painful to watch as a train wreck, this is why I don't watch tv anymore, it's all lies. Don't take my word for it, do your own research on vitamin d, it's not hard see once you start looking. If you listen to this garbage, you deserve what you get.

  • And guess what, EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT! So yeah, we're all human beings, but what works for someone, doesn't work for someone else. One person could smoke cigarettes for 60 years and never get lung cancer, meanwhile someone smokes for a few months and dies a few years later from cancer....

Just like the crazy health nut who works out all the time and eats the healthiest food, then gets hit by a drunk driver, and the slouch who doesn't do anything and eats junk food lives to be 95 years old.

  • WTF is this douche talking about toxicity? Most doctors never even herd of vitamin D toxicity. Water is more dangerous than vitamin D

  • I'm sorry but does anyone get a feeling that Dr. Jon LaPook's smile is just silently/secretly saying "he he!!! Here I am on public tv about to tell a lie and I can get away with it because I'm an "official" doctor! I just say something and if everything goes as I planned the public who is watching this will do what I'm saying!". I don't know if it's just me but smiles like his smile just screams deceit.

  • I was about this video, but seeing its from CBS...with the eye illuminati symbol. All I am expecting from this video is bent truth, and manipulated studies. Fuck this 10000ui a day for life! oh yeh!

  • But really, to anyone that's concerned about vitamin D toxicity only needs to know/look up how much the body makes in response to sunlight - about 10,000 to 20,000 IU. This is in a matter of about 30 minutes. The guy is getting concerned about 400 IU adding up with 200 IU. If that were really toxic, the human race would have died off before it left Africa, because our ancestors didn't lather themselves in suntan lotion and jumbo hats/sunglasses.

  • @lennytc16 Saying that LDL is bad or that LDL causes heart disease is like saying that red blood cells are the root cause of complications of sickle cell anemia. LDL supplies cholesterol to the cells for necessary function, HDL recycles them for future LDL creation. Both are lipoproteins and the cholesterol contains is the same. Small, dense LDL causes heart disease, which is caused by an unhealthy liver due to sugar/grain metabolism. Hba1c & C-reactive-protein are good markers too.

  • Vitamin D toxicity? He's just making shit up.

  • clash of information. im so confused, i hear that you can take all the vitamins you want, and ur body can deal with it.

and then I hear vitamin toxicity. then if massive amounts of vitamins are dangerous then why is it so easy to buy huge amounts at drug stores? shouldn't those be regulated too instead of being over-the-counter? ...just trying to think rationally here

  • @sueryun : The fact is that vitamin toxicity is WAY overblown--but not totally without some small danger. The most dangerous (practically the only dangerous vitamin) is vitamin A--but one never need worry about that if one takes the PRECURSOR of vitamin A, beta carotene. Did you know that Eskimos who didn't like white explorers used to kill them by feeding them polar bear liver, which has huge quantities of vitamin A?

  • @sueryun Good Lord no, we dont need them regulated. Everything in our world is regulated!!! Take some responsibility for yourself and Just do the research before you take a vitamin!

  • "the latest wonder vitamine"..... like it new to the market hahaha. fuck sakes all of em are important and it come from food . id like to give her a recal exam tith my tounge

  • Look, CBS is part of the globalist gang that run the US. They don't want you to be healthy, they want you to be sick. This guy is just an FDA goon. The FDA will approve poison that kills people everyday like Vioxx, but they are trying to ban vitamins. Why? Because they know vitamins work. Sickness is a big business.

  • @Mainsail76 - actually I just did a bunch of research reviews from JAMA and NEJM and no study showed a clear benefit of D. So- mixed reviews.

  • @txnurse9 What are you talking about? Why are you replying to my comment when what you say has nothing to do with what I posted? Vitamins work. Can they cure every ill? No, but they do just as well as poison meds. I can say for a fact that nobody will die from taking vitamins today. Can you say that about the poison the FDA approves?

  • @Mainsail76 - what I said has everything to do with your comment. Do YOU have access to medical journals? Obviously not. So take that stick out of your arse. Its a free country - that means I can voice an opinion different than yours! I suggest you see a dr and God forbid- get on some MEDS for that paranoia!

  • This so-called doctor is just plain stupid, absolutely limited, or as the French would say "borné" in his thinking on the subject. I don't know what experts he consulted, but he been misled him royally. Dr. John Cannell, a well known expert on the subject and his wife take in excess of 5,000 IU of vitamin D regularly, and more than 10 ten times that in the winter time and they never get sick and they are not eve close to toxicity levels. They are the healthiest people alive today!

  • Sun sun sun is the answer. Completely. That is the source of life. It produces all of our food. Everything comes from the sun. Check out Hira Ratan Manek-Sungazing for good health benefits.

  • This "doctor" comes off like he was doing whip-its backstage.

"You can just go on the net and order D; it's not regulated." That's right jack-ass, because noone is going toxic from these amounts. 50k IUs are prescription only.

I could go on. This is infuriating, pharma-ganda.

  • damn that chick is hot.

  • 2:40 That chemical happens to be cholesterol.

  • @luiza2166 Yep, cholesterol is used to make hormones, heal tissue, wire the nervous system. But don't let the people hear about this too much, because crestor/lipitor/bullshitscienceator says that cholesterol is a poison made by the body to kill itself secretly by clogging arteries like they're pipes.

  • @2trey4five There are different types of cholesterol w/ different purposes. If you ask anyone that actually knows what they are talking about they will tell you that there is good (HDL-- high density lipoprotein) cholesterol and bad (LDL-- low density lipoprotein). You need both, but people tend to be low in HDL which should be higher and high in LDL which should be lower. There are also VLDLs and many other lipids. It's called a lipid profile and it's more complicated than you think.

  • There are different types carrier protein, but only one type of cholesterol. The molecular formula for cholesterol is C27H45OH or sometimes written C27H46O which is the same thing. They medical community uses ridiculous terminology like 'good cholesterol' and 'bad cholesterol' because they believe that the average person is to simple to understand a elementary concepts. Cholesterol that is deposited into the blood stream via low density lipo proteins is labeled 'bad cholesterol'

  • This 'bad cholesterol' (the cholesterol that is deposted into blood) is absolutely necessary for cell survival. This is a sufficient enough premise to show that labeling something 'bad' when you would die without it is a basic flaw in logical thinking and totally misleading.Too much cholesterol being deposited into the blood though, just like anything else, it is a bad thing. High density lipo proteins remove cholesterol from the blood and take it back to the liver. HDL & LDL are just proteins.

  • cont from my previous post

HDL and LDL are just proteins though that transport cholesterol. The main point that I'm trying to make is that all cholesterol is the same regardless. It doesn't matter if it is being transported by a HDL or LDL protein. It is also very true that too much cholesterol deposited in the blood is bad. This can cause blockage and narrowing of the arteries.

It is also important to note that the liver is the primary source of cholesterol production: about 80%.

  • One problem of getting our "information" in sound-bite format: you don't get the entire story, as reality is difficult to condense into 10 min. segments.

Read the information for yourself; check out the studies of one Dr. Reinhold Vieth, look into information on how much Vitamin D you get in sunlight and the fact that our society spends less and less time in the sun than decades ago when everyone seemed healthier.

I am no zealot, but educating yourself on this may be vital to your health.

  • This guy really doesn't know what he's talking about. He obviously has no clinical experience with vitamin D deficiency. Check out Dr. Sarfraz Zaidi's new book on vitamin D, "The Power of Vitamin D." It gives all the specific info on diagnosis, dosage, treatment and toxicity as well as case studies. Dr. LaPook makes you think if you take over 400 IU a day from various multivitamins you'll get in trouble. Absolutely wrong! I take 10,000 IU a day and my vitamin D is right where it should be!

  • Katie thinks SHE'S the doctor...what a clown. Why would this doctor even mention Vitamin D toxicity when it takes many, many THOUSANDS of units of vitamin D over a long period of time before it would become "toxic"? Look up "The truth about Vitamin D toxicity" on the web.

  • This dude is a Gucci, Mercedes doctor. He has no real knowledge.

  • I heard it turns your cholesterol into Vit D. Thats why I think they tell everybody to keep cholesterol low .

  • Vitamin D toxicity? That comment alone speaks to this mans ignorance on this topic.

He says that to scare people into maintaining low amounts. Death, pain and misery are VERY big business in the US. They'd go ballistic if he told the truth on national television.

If you want to know the truth about vitamin d -- search here at youtube for "the real story vitamin D" -- watch the first link on the search page.

  • ok, here ya go, vit. D isn't a vitamin,it's a steroid hormine in the body, it's a product of some 36 plus organs/functions of the body. 30 min.of hot summer sunshine can give you some 5,000 units of vit. D so taking 5,000 to 10,000 units a day is very extremely healthy, especially if you have some positive signs of disease or as mentioned, depression, ms, etc...people should have there lvl tested in your doctors office to see how much you need, or a good average is 2,000 to 3,000 units daily.

  • @DaytonaDavid

More if you feel ill - several thousand IU daily for two days is very helpful.

Ignore what this stupid man said about toxicity - there has never been a single recorded case - Dr. Cannell of the vitamin D council has said that water is more toxic than Vitamin d.

  • i have a girlfriend with P.t.S.d,,,,her Dr, told her to go to tanning salons in winter. would giving her 2000 units a day help with uplifting her moods at all ? any comments would sure help. Thanks

  • @gladheateher4now Here is the best video i have seen on vit d. Essential information about vitamin D. She basically says, go to the doc and have it tested, if its low, take 10,000i.u a day for 4-6 weeks, then go back to the doc and have it tested again. if its high enough, go on a maintenece intake of 1,000i.u. I would think it would be higher then that, especially in the winter. Try the 10,000 a day for the winter. less in the summer if she is outside a lot.

  • Try Now Foods' Vitamin D supplement from iherb. Use coupon code YAN312 to receive $5 off your order. :)

  • the problem with medical science is that doctors are not sure of anything. for every study that proves something there is a study showing opposite results of the previous study. maybe this confusion is the way pharmaceutical companies want it to be. listen to this guy, "we are not sure if it's because of that or this...". c'mon, can't you (or won't you) be for one time in your life sure of something and get eaxact result of study you are doing...

  • Hmm seems everthing is poison a m8,,,

  • He is not a good doctor....no toxicity with vitamin D, I'm a college dropout and I know that....he is connect to Pharma as are most Dr.s keep prescribing those meds that are TOXIC.

  • tanning beds are regulated by the FDA. Indoor tanning is a good way to get vitamin d. Search Dr. Holick. he has been studing this for over 30 years.

  • Katie keeps interrupting this motherfucker.

  • Look out! Vitamin D Toxicity! You don't want too much! Watch out! Careful! It's toxic! It's potentially harmful! Oh god! It's fat-soluble! It'll build up in your body! .... I've taken 10,000 IU's every single day for the past 3 years and I haven't gotten sick once. I feel fantastic. This Pharma-shilling M.D. wants people to remain deficient so he can prescribe them some more meds.

  • isn't the max daily intake like 1000 IU?

  • I think toxicity starts around 40,000 IU per day. I think that's like drinking 40 gallons of milk a day.

This doctor didn't say one single thing about the fact that you want Vitamin D3 and not D2. It's D3 that everyone is hyped up about as far as anti-cancer, anti-flu studies being promising.

Also, this isn't evidence, but everyone I know who takes vitamin D3 supplements seems to not get the flu. I take 2000 to 5000 IU per day of D3 in the winter, but I'm no doctor. I just read pubmed.

  • I was watching a lecture by some prof at University of California the other day and he said that the best way to absorb Vitamin D is by sun exposure. He went on to say that one can't get adequate amount of Vitamin D in North America between November and February (since its away from the equator and the earth is titled away from the sun). He didn't suggest a good supplement which kinda blows....

  • @LOLMAN22

Now Foods, Vitamin D-3, 2000 IU, 120 Softgels

$5.25 at iherb(dot)com. Lots of good reviews, so I went with it. No complaints, but I haven't tried other brands either.

  • ok thnx will try it out

  • dumbass TV doctor LaPook

  • @Atheist01 True. And notice how he was contradicting himself? He tried to be confusing by saying - Is it the vitamin D or the Light? And Katie Couric had to correct him by saying "but don't we get it from the sun?" Duuuuuh

  • @Atheist01 I take five thousand IU a day and eat sockeye salmon and sardines..I get a bit of sun that much...You need 35 X your body weight. This man isn't giving accurate information.

  • @Atheist01 No wonder you had no problems, with 10,000 UI building in your body in just 30 min of sun.

  • @Atheist01 Agreed! I think I'll up my 5,000 IU per day to 10,000 IU just the same. Vitamin D Toxicity! Smhhhh!

  • @godschildyes 1920 they proved that 15000iu a day cured breast cancer by 54%.

high levels of d d1 d2 and even d3 in pill form has beenproven to cause liver and kydney failure.

over ten years ago D3 at 40-60 nano grams per millilter in the blood stream reduced the death rate of all the cancer victims in the study. normal d level is 74-150

  • @Atheist01 Check out here on you tube- Project Camelot-Vitamin D3 very interesting well explained by a German naturopath. Nice to have another opinion with graphs and charts. I took a mega dose to get started around 100,000 IU's in two days. No problems and guess what I already feel sort of energetic usually very tired both mentally and physically much more stamina. Can be received free by sitting in the sun 15-20 minutes a day and your body makes up to10-20,000 Iu in that 15-20 minute period

  • Sunshine (indoors or out) is the way NATURE intended us to get Vitamin D.

The key to smart tanning is: don't ever sunburn! When tanning outside, many factors will determine your exposure - time of day, time of year, latitude, cloud cover, pollution...

In a tanning salon, you are able to CONTROL your exposure.

  • yeah-

Dude's not so well-versed, is he? Problem is, I suspect he's like most doctors: beleives what the AMA tells him, and ONLY what the AMA tells him. I've done better research on this topic than him, and I've only been on it for about three days now. Hope dude doesn't catch the flu this winter, poor sap..

  • Hah! He said why would you use a tanning salon to get your vitamin D - it's not a regulated industry. Oh, yeah, like the government protects us from anything.

  • Nothing wrong with going to a tanning solon if you do it in moderation. If you burn you stayed in the bed too long. You start out doing it for only a few minutes and work your way up. Also stay away from the level 4 and 5 beds. I've been doing it for 4 years and my skin is actually healthier than before. When I skip tanning for a month or so my acne comes back. By tanning your skin gets stronger and youre less likely to burn when you do go in the sun.

  • pretty disappointing.. dr holick and dr mercola do a much job than this putz. i would recommend he reads the literature a little more in depth.

  • this interview is not very helpful. they skim the issue of sun exposure and don't go over the advantages of getting vitamin d from the sun. his recommendations are far too low for supplementation. then to cap it off he scares the uninformed with talk of intoxication. no mention of how hard it really is to get intoxicated, what levels you would need to be at for this to happen, whether or not those tested were indeed feeling the symptoms of intoxication or just over the optimal level ->

  • The international units he's talking about are just plain to low. The consense I think is to get about 4000 IU. Some say 6000. That's low enough to prevent the toxicity and yet get adequate levels of D. Have a test done and check for levels above 30 ng/ml which are considered adequate. I play golf once a week and take a 1000 IU of day and my levels were 31 ng/ml which is sufficient - but I want to take it higher.

  • "Evo and Proud

Only mega-doses can overcome what seems to be a homeostatic mechanism that keeps bloodstream vitamin D within a certain range. Indeed, this range falls below the one that is now recommended. Curious isn't it? Why would natural selection design us the wrong way?"

  • i am dead convinced from the research to take it every day

  • Yes thats good, get a book

    "Nutrition and Degenerative diseases"

    Weston Price

    Will explain all . . . .

  • New studies have shown that Vitamin D also helps with mental happiness. The sun's UV rays stimulate Vit D production in the body, In fact, you get wayy more Vit D from sunlight exposure than from your diet. In summer there is more sunlight, so more Vit D, so more happy! Yay!

Also, in winter some people have a depression-like condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

  • Ironic name for a disease!
