The prequel trilogy sucked mega balls and was an embarrassment to the series, but the new ST movie was fucking awesome. Probably the second best next to Wrath of Khan.

indeed. episode 1 should have been crammed into like 5 minutes, a fast telling of Anakin's childhood, and then cut to him being a teenager and meeting Padme for the first time and end with the start of the clone wars

then the 2nd one would be entirely about the clone wars, palpatine's rise to power, padme's death and end with anakin joining the dark side.

in episode 3 anakin would suffer his horrific injuries by the jedi, and will then go on his rampage against the jedi for revenge

@GeneralGrin I always had a soft spot for Episode I, but in retrospect, it was kind of pointless. The fact that Anakin is 10 years older in Episode II & is almost completely different character really defeated the purpose of the Phantom Menace.

@GeneralGrin To yo and everyone who recoments I starting the War: 1. this would prevent us from allowing to get to know the republic at it` orime and too understabd the politics, 2. would not alow us too dsee enough of inocen Anakin, 3. would be weitrd since this is supposed too be a peacefull era, 4. is dumb and loyd and unsophisticated, 5. uh Anakin becoming evil in II thisd is his trilogy and the saga is his, 6 no kid Anain,. less tragic. Damn, I wish they would do this. The prequels as a whole sucked but if the best, most important parts were all recut into one epic prequel they would all be redeemed. We could think of the full versions like the extended cuts of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. As long the Phantom Menace got the least screen time it would be awesome.

Yeah, all the important scenes should be included to explain main plot events, but they really shouldn't take up a large fraction of the movie. You only need Episodes 2 and 3 to make a complete and satisfying prequel.

attack of the clones should have been the first episode. anakin would turn to the dark side in the very end of episode 2, and episode 3 would be entirely devoted to him becoming vader and the jedi purge.

we didn't need to see anakin as a kid and the whole Naboo and Gungan story.

I always imagined the prequels would take place within a few years of Episode IV. At the very beginning when Vader says, "There will be no one to stop us this time" I took that to mean that there was some conflict immediately preceding those events. And I still want to know what the hell happened. I doubt Lucas has any idea.

i would even say we didnt need all three of the prequels, but f we must then i think we only need Ep III for a prequel, and maybe a scene or two from the first two (like Ani's mother dying so he can have the visions of Padmé later) the clone wars could simply have been explained in the opening text scroll. ''its war!'' the rest we dont need the first two, its not like we she how Grevious came to be or something (and we dont need him anyway :P) Ep IV-VI were enough in the end.
