  • Carbon Minoxide was what killed Boston singer Brad Delp in 2007 and comedy musician Weird Al Yankovic's parents in 2004.

  • Carbon Monoxide is noithing to mess around with

  • Sometimes, I go away for Christmas, and some of the places I go, they have furnaces. I should buy a USB CO thingie the next time I go somewhere that has a furnace. I think you can get one.

    It's always good to have.

  • Broadview Security has a Carbon Monixode Detector Carbon Monoxide Detector top

Sounds an alarm to warn your family when dangerous levels of carbon monoxide are detected.

  • 1:22-Perfect example that 2 different conditions can have the exact same symptoms

  • *me

  • the way she rubs the child is freaking out

  • how did they get poisoned ?

  • suicide method 101

  • Do they still use hyperbaric (sp?) chambers?

  • 1:25 is a perfect example that 2 different conditions can have the exact same symptoms. (CO Poisoning/Flu, Petite Mal Seizure/Stroke)

  • when i was a little girl, this happened to my family over night. my mom woke up by the alarm and wanted to wake me for school. she was feeling not good and saw i had a strange look on my face. she woke my dad and they carried me outside where i woke up thinking i had spent the night outside. that was a close call. i now have co detectors in my house!

  • lol i love how monotone the boy is when he says he loves his sis. very convincing.

  • omg

  • Must be careful in America if you need emergency medical care and you cant afford to pay for it you will die, sorry pal game over your finished.

  • you know what your right thumbs up from me Canada has a way better plan

  • @Carbon657 thats not entirely true,

  • Get a carbon monoxide detector.

  • how did the carbon monoxide get there inside the house

  • @gangstachic911 it can happen any way, the heater that heat their house can break and if its on while its broken, it can cause the carbon monoxide to enter the house through the vents, its deadly, its oderless, and invisiable, the only way for it to be detected is a carbon momoxide dectector

  • yeah Colorado Springs!!!

  • Today Megan is a happy and healthy 19-year-old. I wonder what she's up to now. Maybe she remembers this night. Her brother says he cares about her a bunch.

  • i will be a firefighter when i grow up!

  • GOOD FOR YOU. You will be saving a life one day.

  • It's something your boss wants you to work.

  • When I lived in California two years ago, my brother had left some sort of gas lantern or oven on after we had used it during a power outage. Nobody knew it at the time, and we noticed the device was on, and leaking gas, when my mom went into the kitchen. It was about 9pm and we probly would have died if mom hadn't gone into the kitchen to make her Sleepytime Tea...it's so weird to think...

  • OMG.

  • everyone s hould have a CO monitors in their house just like fire alarms. I guess im a hypocrite though cause my family doesn't have one. Well i'm going to talk to my parents about this.

  • your body doesn't fight CO, it binds to the Hemoglobin in your blood just like Oxygen except the CO is useless to the body and it makes the body unable to transport Oxygen...there are many things that can cause her to be the first...you should have CO detectors in your home

  • My parents got carbon monoxide detectors and a furnace inspection because of this episode. furnace inspections and detector battery checks became regular events after this. thank you rescue 911 and thank you for posting

  • Wow.

  • My name is Johnna and this is the story of my family. I was very surprised when a co-worker found this video here on Youtube. This happened to my family 16 years ago. For the past 6 years I have worked for a utility department and do safety presentations to many departments regarding the dangers of CO. 16 years ago we knew absolutely nothing about CO, and the only reason we decided to participate in the 911 reinactment was to education others on the danger of CO!

  • this is u THAT IS AWSOME!!!!!!!!

  • Let me tell you that I am a Brazilian Product Safety Engineer who works for a major household appliance manufacturer here and it is my intention to use this video as an educational resource to improve people awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. I am glad to know that everything was fine with your family. I wish everyone was as lucky as you were. Regards.

  • Im sooo glad your familys okay!! :)

  • Really, that was your family in this segment? Awesome! Tell me, how is your family doing now? Is everyone alive and well? I'm just curious.

  • you still live in colorado

  • Wow...I always wondered what it would be like to do a reenactment like that. I am glad you and your family are safe and alive. I remember watching this when it first aired when I was a kid.

  • Thanks to you and rescue 911 you probably saved lives of others!

  • @momwithvan so glad everyone made it Ok.

  • @momwithvan do you still live in that house

  • @momwithvan that is awsome. when i saw this (for the 1st time it aired - now as a mom myself i watch them here) i am reminded just how precoius life is....hope u and ur family are doing great. i learned something off here i did not know as well *another episode* that i have taught my now 9 yr old son.

  • @momwithvan How are your children doing today? Megan is approaching her 21st birthday. I wonder if you remember this night.

  • I thank God for you and your family, if not God what a story.....

    Stay strong and worship God

  • people can worship god if they want

  • why did god let it happen, if he actually exists that is.

  • Ok... sorry to people with religion on watching these videos or reading this comment but I've had enough.

SHUT UP ABOUT GOD AND THAT CRAP ON YOUTUBE!!!! NOT EVERYONE BELIEVES AND SOME PEOPLE (like me) ARE OFFENDED BY OTHERS BLAMING THINGS ON GOD!!!

  • mono carbon oxide not wonderful. It does do things when it extremes that room with house. and it besides the fuck when it does not do shit.

i am in posession of english that is not wonderful

  • maybe isf she hadn't told her 2 take deep breath, considering there was carbon monoxide in the air, she wouldn't have passed out.

  • Carbon Monoxide Detectors are now required by law.

  • not in every state

  • why did the child passout before the adults, if theyre in the same environment wouldnt they all passout at the same time?

  • Children typically have a faster metabolism, so the carbon monoxide would affect the children faster than an adult.

  • The child has less blood volume, as well as a faster heartrate and respiratory rate.

  • dont they know to own carbon monixide alarms>???

  • They do now.

  • @allgood2000 haha

  • @allgood2000 i have a alam that goes "Carbon Monixide And repeats it " we didnt have one and we had a fire alarm that didnt go off when my house burnt down..

  • 16 years ago, they only type of carbon monoxide alarm available was a small plastic square shaped object that had a small circle in the middle that resembled sandpaper - no sound, no alarm - would only notice if you walked by and noticed the disk turned dark - indicated CO in the atmosphere - we have come along way in 16 years

  • @bluebutdude1 this is from the 80s I don't think they really had them back then

  • @bluebutdude1 UMM CAN YOU PUT DETAILS IN THAT WORD

  • @bluebutdude1 This was filmed when carbon monoxide alarms were just introduced into homes

  • @bluebutdude1 oh really? i didnt know that

  • Isn't there another segment with a truck of sand that overturns on a car..

I wonder which is more nasty...

A truck fill of hot asphalt to overturn on a car??

Or a truck fill of sand to overturn on a car??

  • I'm going to go with hot asphalt.

  • Thanks again.

  • Got a stupid question, but what is the difference between hot asphalt and tar??

Yep-I'm referring to the asphalt segment.

  • Tar is more like goo, and asphalt is more like gravel.

  • Thanks Dave!

  • According to that site I frequently visit for episodes of 911 that aired for each season, this ep was actualy #504.

    No biggie though.

Might want to double check next time Dave.

  • The numbers I'm using in the episode listings are the production numbers, not the lifetime numbers. Although it was fourth episode to air in season 5, it was the eighth episode produced for season 5.

  • Thanks Dave!

  • Why did you say Thanks Dave twise?

  • i almost dided from carbon dioxcid

  • this happened to my aunt and uncle good thing they realized what was wrong

  • why does the boy look so upset when he says he loves his sister, haha

  • Haha thats true!

  • lucky U!!! its must be fun living in a cave!!

  • LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hahaha nice

  • any thing that uses gas like charcoal BBQ's, furnaces, gas ovens, water heaters etc.

  • the fire department just left my house. we had carbon monoxide in our house, but we all got out before anything happened thanks to the carbon monoxide detectors and they vented out our house.

  • wow!things i cant see can kill me in my own home!thats amazing.kind of scares me though.and i hope my furnace doesn't malfunction

  • i hope i dont have problems with my gas stove!!!

  • co is carbon dioxcide which is harmless its in the air we breath

  • CO is carbon monoxide stupid.

    CO2 is carbon dioxide

  • oh, and nice rat-tail, Doc.

  • i remember this episode from when i was a kid. it scared me to death and i thought about it every single night when i was trying to sleep. i begged my parents to get a carbon monoxide detector after i saw this. it's still terrifying to think about.

  • cafbon monoxide is very dangerous and please if u dont have a dector get one. I just lost my best friend on Augest 5, 2008. She was only 17

  • This is exactly why I will never have anything gas in my home. I will only have all electric, like I do now :-) I grew up in a home with a gas heater and it used to scare the daylights out of me.

  • yeee hehehe i want a baby sister like her she is cutee hehe

  • this is why they invented the smoke detecter it also detects Carbon Monoxide duh

  • Only certains one can dectected smoke and carbon monoxide Smoke dectecters alone can't. But they do have carbon monoxide dectecters that kinda look like a smoke decters but have special batter or something on the inside

  • I check my gas appliances all the time and make sure by boiler dosent burn with a orange like flame..i heard that this problem is verry common and happends to loads of people who havent been told about it

  • She does'nt look like shes 2 year old, I thought she looked liked 5.

  • They reenacted it.

  • The girl at the end of the video is the real toddler. The actor that they got to portray the girl wouldn't go into the chamber. So whether she looks it or not, she's really 2. I got the info straight from the mom (we work for the same company).

  • Wasn't there another similar segment where a woman falls ill, is taken to the emergency room, where Rescue 911 was airing in the waiting room and showing carbon monoxide segment? That ended up saving the family's life.

  • Yes, that's "St. Louis Gas Leak" from 100 Lives Saved (Episode 401).

  • ok your dangert ok fine

  • Say what?

  • HAHA Mi LiL SiS(SH3S D3AF) WAS L00KiN AT ViD30S 0N H3R3 N i GU3SS SH3 WAS USiNG Mi ACC0UNT... S0 Y3AH THAT WASNT M3 L0L

  • I was in a house that had carbon monoxide in but thankful we got out. My mother got a detector and when she plugged it in it just kept beeping. We got thank good before this happen to us.

  • theres this thing you can get in your house called a carbon monoxide detector- except it's really expensive cuz i have one.

  • i cant watch my aunt and cosin died in shanghi and the polcie there didn't even open the door for 5 days

  • i had this happen to some of my family members

  • its scary because u go to sleep and never wake up

  • there's a news article on this segment.

  • That's scary. Having Carbon Monoxide in your house!

  • Another good Carbon Monoxide Family segment

is Dr. Tom Lang, wife Ginny, and their 7 children, or 9. I forgot.

They get overcome by nasty Carbon Monoxide.

Also the segment with the mother, and her son Kurt. Kurt accidently turns the stove on after his mom cleans it.

  • i got sick from being downwind from gas powered trimmer emmisions. a bad as they stink i could not readily detect it. it came inside my house.

  • when you inhale carbon monoxide how long will it take for you to react to it?....i'm scared.....

  • very scary thank god 4 carbon monxide detectors today! although i hate how it makes you sleepy!

  • how did they video record the call??

  • They didn't. They're lip synching the actual recording, like Britney Spears does at concerts.

  • oh snap lol... that was good.

  • What Happend to Weird Al's Parents?

  • my mom and dad have smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors all throughout our house its important to have both of those nomatter what.

  • Thank Heaven, they made it!

  • it may just be the poor quality of the film. The lights are typically red and blue. Though, I suppose they could be green...I have never seen a special doctor car with emergency lights in the U.S.

  • In America would be really stupid for someone to sleep in a house one night without Some type of Carbon Monoxide Detectors knowing that almost every house use GAS.

I fear things that i do not see, feel, taste, or smell......

  • For only a few dollors at Lowes, or home depot you can get Carbon Monoxide detectors, i have two, one upstairs, one downstairs and it it amazing. now i can sleep sound at night!

  • yup we have a bunch too 1 on every floor

probably a best investment these days

  • SHIIIIIIT as in omg im scared now

  • I remember watching this one...

  • This is really scary! The fact that it's odorless and tasteless. I'm glad everyone survived! I remember watching this when it was on the "Family" Network or something like that. They need to put this show on TV Land or something.

  • my carbon monoxide detector went off the day after labor day. i was asleep when it went off. i got sick later that day.

  • resistance or immunity. yea but there are other things in the home that can cause carbon monoxide so its always a good idea to get your house check every so often

  • umm how does it get carbon monoxide in there in the first place???

  • When the furnace burns fuel, it gives off carbon monoxide. Their furnace wasn't vented properly, so the carbon monoxide started leaking into the house and built up to a dangerous level.

  • I actually remember when this episode originally aired... I only remember the part about the carbon monoxide poisoning plot and the part where the father collapses in the hallway. I was only 5 at the time too! It's weird the things you remember... :)

  • I also remember some of the episodes from swedish TV.

    (I remember one from 1994, When I was 2 =P)

  • Look at the real son and the father near the end, they look so much alike.

  • I thought he looked more like his mom than his dad.

  • I remember this episode.

  • go to tvshowsondvd, com and vote on rescue 911 to come out on dvd, rescue 911 has 434 votes so far

  • I was wondering if you had the segement from this episode where a dump truck carrying hot asphalt overtunes on an occupied car. I would just enjoy seeing that one again.

  • You have knack for requesting segments that I don't have complete versions of.

  • you think women can get the poisoning easier than men??

since here the women were the first one's to get really bad, and in another carbon monoxide episode of r911 the women were also in the baddest shape..

  • the severity of the poisoning depends on: * how much carbon monoxide is actually present in the environment. * the duration you are exposed to carbon monoxide. * the age of the individual concerned - elderly, children and the foetus are all at greater risk. * the general state of health. * the extent of physical activity - effects are increased with higher activity levels.

  • In this one, it may have been because there was more carbon monoxide downstairs. The mother and daughter were downstairs together, and the father and son were upstairs.

  • i was just wondering if it has anything to do with it, since alcohol also has a different kind of effect on women because of the fat difference in the body..

  • The gender had nothing to do with it. The fact is that the girl and mom were downstairs in a more concentrated area. The dad and son were upstairs in the bedrooms.

  • Yuck.

  • Scary.

  • This is why most medics now have carbon monoxide detectors on their equipment.

  • scary scary scary thing. always have carbon monoxide detectors in ur home. if u dont INSTALL THEM RIGHT AWAY! VERY IMPORTANT u bsicly sleep wen u get poisioned that way !

  • how did the the carbon monoxie get into the house in the first place, and, secondly, how did everybod else i.e. firefighters didnt get carbon monoxide into them?

  • Their furnace wasn't properly ventilated, which allowed carbon monoxide to leak into the house. The firefighters probably weren't exposed long enough to get poisoned, the family had been in the house for hours.

  • yep it's odorless, that's why everyone SHOULD get a carbon monoxide detector.

  • I thought these days they add odor to it?

  • they add odor to natural gas. however carbon monoxide is a by product from unburned fuels. theres no way to add smell to it

  • And, contrary to what TV shows would have you believe, natural gas in its unburned state is harmless, except that it can explode there is a high enough percentage in the air. Breathing in natural gas doesn't make you pass out, though. (Unless you were just breathing in stright natural gas.) I've seen so many TV shows where someone turns on the natual gas from a stove in a house to knock someone out or kill them. It's pretty comical.
