You got to love Dusty Rhodes. He was one of the first wrestlers that I saw ont he old Florida wrestling. A legend, that common man stuff was gold. You believed it.
As far as I'm concerned Dusty Rhodes was one of the men who made wrestling. He's right up there with Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan or anyone else and doesn't get nearly enough credit. He carried the NWA just as much as Flair did and always delivered for the fans. He was right up there with Flair and without him Flair would not have been as great as he was. Dusty was the best babyface ever and maybe the most entertaining all around performer ever and well deserving of the Hall of Fame.
I love Dusty Rhodes, and there was nothing common about him...that's why I will forever have a problem with him being in polka dots (by suggestion by Vince McMahon.
I with all honesty like Dusty Rhodes. I regret being to young to see his matches. But he may not have the skill but he had the charisma to enterain the crowd thats why to be honest with u.
If you're talking about the finish in which Dusty has the "big gold belt" inside the steel cage, that's from 7/26/86 at the Great American Bash. Dusty won his 3rd NWA title in that match.
If you're talking about when the fans storm the ring, that's from 6/21/81 at the Omni in Atlanta. Rhodes has just won his 2nd NWA title.
The second match is on You Tube. Search for "Wrestling's Hidden Gems #63 - Harley Race"
The man of the hour, the tower of power, too sweet to be sour. Just a plumber's boy from East Texas. 265 pounds of blue eyed soul captivating the country. Mr. Soul, Mr. Charisma, Mr. Electricity, the hitmaker, the record breaker, the number one attraction in sports entertainment Mr. Dusty Rhodes. May the American Dream live on forever in the hearts and minds of wrestling fans everywhere. Woooo that's funky!!
Is actually the american dream being a fat, blonde-cotton hair individual?

The amazing thing is, he did it all without the awesome physique that a lot of guys had back during the 80s and 90s.

Look at the insanity that is 2:40 -- that kind of thing only happens for a few guys in the history of the business.

Why does Triple HHH have to comment on everyone? Like he was one of Dusty's comtemporaries.

His promos went into territory and talked about things most others would never talk about.
His "hard times" promo is basically a blue-collar call-to-arms, and it's practically perfect.

Gotta agree with Arn Anderson. Most wrestlers wish they had the same career that Dusty had back in his haydays.
