It's strange... Pale Folklore was the first and only album I ever heard of Agalloch. I just want to ruin the thrill this album gives me everytime, by risking listen to other stuff of them, as I mght get disappointed. Pale Folklore was just perfect and I doubt anything else could reach that from the same genre
Agalloch sounds like true autumn wind which feels so cold and warm at once, like dying leaves falling from the trees... Just essence of the autumn smell.
@kissofdeathisraja Insomnium is decent not really a favorite lol I only like one of their songs. no my favs are from 1st to 3rd. Iron Maiden, Pagan's Mind and Agalloch.
@MrHateeternal666 its not the same :P kind of similar, but not the same. this song that part is only built off 2 chords, ghosts has 3 chords in the intro
I think this is better than say Fire Above Ice Below.
Melodies soar and flow instead of just repeating patterns. Sure the production and tone is much better later on but some of the stuff on Ashes against the Grain just sounded...stale...to me. The acoustic part in Limbs...the Ebow solo and loopy guitar in the aforementioned FAIB and the piano intro to the Our Fortress is Burning trilogy.
At the end, the piano like that. Does any one know of any good songs or composers whom play like that? I love agalloch, but sometimes you just need more piano!
I would tear your head of for thinking that you even have the right to say such a thing. Agalloch would not function without the small black metal influence, the atmosphere would be ruined completely. Just kidding about the head tearing part though.
I know them for only a year so...you have quite an advantage there. I dont know if they will ever come to Romania (probably not), but I will continue to listen to this music 'till the day I die.
doesn't matter if you know know them 5 years ago or just since yesterday. as long as you are able to enjoy this godlike music. i am somehow happy that they are not well known around the world, cause this makes keeping this music pure

This is simply amazing. I am so glad I have discovered this band. All their songs take me back to a foggy winter day in Scotland or something.
