  • When I think of Robert Plant, I think of Merlin from Sword in the Stone. I don't know why.

  • Robert Plant is a genius!!!!

  • Humble man wants to thank Alison Krauss for teaching him how to sing...what an incredible man! To reach such hights of recognition and yet give thanks to someone else for learning something new from them...Greatness at its best!

  • Robert + Katy

  • dam allison is A HOT MILF !!!!!!!!

  • But why, WHY is there no audio for the parts where T -Bone is shown playing his guitar???

The rest is amazing music history. This bridges several musical gaps...

  • 1:50 to 1:55

I almost died when i heard that the first time! No Robert! We LIKE that twirly stuff! Dont be like everybody else!

  • @LordConner I think its great that a man that has reached such hights of recognition is willing to learn something new and different from someone else. That is greatness at its best.

  • They sang and looked so good together.

  • I like it when he says "shimmy" and shakes his hip at 1:18. He's still got it.

  • You think she f'ddd him?

  • Alison needs to stay with bluegrass! Her voice and talent for playing the fiddle are wasted with this venture!

  • @05jmattyred I wish someone would stick that fiddle up Alison's ASS

  • @allanshawn why?

  • I love allison krauss like CRAZY. true true vocalist. not pretentious. wonderfull voice and WONDERFULL person.

  • @FJYardley I love the mature look of Zepplin. Jimmy Page looks like a true rock God that should be bowed to now that he has let himself go grey. In my mind's eye, they are still appearing to me with the images from the 70's. I had the honor of seeing them live. I was only 17, knew nothing and was taught much for having experienced them. I love what Plant did with Alison Krauss. Check it out, if you haven't already.

  • Bravo! This is what it's about people! Been a Zep fan since the 70's. I am humbled by the depth and layers of their collaboration. Sublte complexities were revealed and we were left gifted. Zep and many other English bands have often spoke of their grass roots American influences. I needed this to happen to music. I am so tired of the reliance of hip&rap techno BS and urban decay of the English language that is so common today!

  • he should make a led zeppelin tour...... not for the money, or for good old times .... but, for the people of rock n roll..... i think he owes it to them!!!!! mr plant, if u see this comment..... make it happen!!!!! do it for elvis, john lennon, and for the people of rock n roll........remember, you owe it to them !!!!!!

  • @johnyoko80 I'm afraid Plant's voice wouldn't last on an extended tour. He couldn't possibly hit those banshee notes without the kind of special effects he used on tour with Alison when he would sing "Nothin'". It was kind of sad and obvious seeing him live

Now I could get behind a Led Zep studio album with new material where Plant could have as many takes as needed to get it right. No way he could tour without embarassing himself like Roger Daltry does these days! The man is 62 years old!!

  • Who is this T Bone Burnett??

  • @DobrePytanie With respect, you have every avenue of research at your fingertips these days. However, he is a well-respected producer/musician etc. Worked with Costello, Dylan, Elton and various others.

  • Robert Plant, the consumate English gentleman.

  • this is not Plant's Style!!!

  • @takoGillan777 I beg to differ, I think Plant has so many style within him. This is roots music.... All Zep was, was a roots band on super steroids and Marshalls. IMO..

  • sorry die hard zep fan, she is the world's b iggest singing whiner all through the nose, IMHO

  • That is all fine and dandy but I"m a plant fan Robert Plant you Rock and alway's will

  • coldplay blows

  • PLANT PRESIDENT!

  • Plant doesn't need money to go back to Led Zeppelin....When the time is right he will go back once again, for no money, just for the good old times with Jones and Jimmy..

  • I am happy for him and this stuff sounds great, but i do wish he would do full Led Zeppelin tour. I heard he turned down $200 mill. for that tour, that just shows you how unmaterialistic and down to earth Robert really his, gotta respect that.

  • @drakehemlock I guess that shows integrity and all that, but with well over 200,000,000 records sold I doubt that he needed the money anyway. At this point in time it should BE just about the music.

  • @drakehemlock led zeppelin never won a grammy for that reason, plant and company did play rock and roll to love of music.. no money o whatever . for that they are the best band in the world of all times, and plant one of the three bestfrontman of rock and rolll.... MR PLANT RULES

  • Good guy Robert.

  • t bone is cool

  • one of the, if not the, best duo going round!!! Robert Plant, voice from Heaven, Allison Krause - sexiest crooner.... in the world (aside from the talent!!!!!!

  • wtf i cant belive led zeppelin didnt win any awards.. they are the greatest

  • @chronic9292 There wasn't a Grammy for rock back in the '70s.

  • @chronic9292 Led Zeppelin didn't need to win awards, Why? Because they've created a legacy, Now a day they're considered one of the greatest bands of all time. Who even takes grammys seriously anymore?

  • YEAH!

This is a fantastic combination. When plant was with honeydrippers I had thought he was gettin' old and losing it. When he came back years later, I thought he had lost* it, but now; All I have to say is "YEAH!" !@#$IN EH! Excellent sound.

Oh yeah, and Allison Krauss, what a cutie! Illinois makes some damn good lookin' women!

  • bambam4LSU,you think anybody cares what a teenage bigmouthed prick like you has to say, go to the humane society get your self a girlfreind, get your head out of your ass you goof lol..

  • oh yea? well lets hear one of your songs lmao!!!!!!

  • man. he'd look so good without that beard. i love him though.

  • I thought this year's Grammies was a total mess on so many levels! But Robert Plant and Allison Krauss winning a ton of Grammies for a good album restored my faith in modern music for a moment. :)

  • plant ... may be one of the best vocalist ever ...

  • dont push it

  • yeassssssssssssssshhhh you are so on the mark

  • i think that all led zep fans should let plant do what he wants to do!

  • absolutelY

  • Reddragonready, GO AWAY!!!!!! Anyway! He doesn't need the attention, his songs and voice say it all!!!

    You ROCK mmrw1 !!!

  • WTF? First off, use all the capitals you want sweetie but I ain't going away! Second, you might not have noticed but I have been saying the same things mmrw1 says. Really a mystery why you think that person "rocks" but I should go away!

So happens I love this album and this teaming up and though I am a Krauss fan, I learned through this project, Plant is pretty awesome! So relax!!! You are shouting at the wrong person!

  • have not made a mention on this song for a while. Look at youtube! Thank You

  • You did a good job and have a great voice

    thanks whoever you are !

  • You are so sad! :(

  • just go to show its not what you do or how well you do it, but what people are in your pocket at the time, then well, anything will be fine, and any old crap will do, as long as you lick the boots

  • Comment removed

  • how about an album with led zeppelin

  • Allison Krauss is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Robert Plant doesnt want to do Led Zeppelin right now and he;s always been hesitant to do it..

  • thats the thing we need, as i tryed to say before, gradualy building up my thumbs, its a shame commercial everyday music is always on the hard sell, led zep, was poetry just an opinion this just does nothing for me

  • You really are intent on pushing your ignorance aren't you? Have you actually heard the album? And have you paid any attention to the present instead of living 30-35 years ago?

This album got no "hard sell"! It in fact hardly got airplay!

That is because by today's standards this is not considered commercial music at all!

And these two consummate musician don't need to have anybody in their pocket or lick anybody's boots! Their works stands for itself and has for many years!

  • And how the hell can you call lyrics such as those of "killing the blues" NOT poetry???

  • thanks 4 the reply, i dont think i,m ignorant, unless you consider those that get enjoyment from a good rock band ignorant, then, by your view i must be ignorant, when i said commercial i ment that it follows the same rule of thumb as in its sound and lyrics, 30+ yrs i think you may mean t.rex, and yes 2 me that was and is a unique sound the lyrics are from poetry in most of marcs songs, but its ok there r still a few bands i like in 09, no way i couldnt hear the album, 2 songs is enough.

  • Ignorant means unaware of the facts! Not only do you admit you are passing judgment on an album you only heard 2 out of the 13! songs but also you seem to think it is "commercial " music and has had a "hard sell"!

I'd say that is being ignorant on certain facts alright.

As for the lyrics by Bolan. They are actually not all that unique but clearly you love them and good for you! Stick to them and don't pretend to be able to pass judgment on that of which you ARE ignorant!

  • Also considering your English...you seem to be too ignorant of your own(?) language to pass judgment on lyrics anyway.

  • ignorant a person who is unaware or lacking knowledge, well me and a few others after listening to this song feel that we dont like it, we like the old led zep, its just not the music i and some others here like, so yes for me 2 songs is enough, so its fact i dont like it, thats it nothing personal, do you know bolans music then? if you did you would know how unique some of it is, there is alot of bolans stuff, that is hidden, so i dont blame you, if your unaware of it. its been interesting

  • Comment removed

  • As for Bolan. I listened to a bit of two songs and read 4 of his lyrics and I am not impressed. And that has to do with my taste. Also I read up on him on Wikipedia and he sounds to me like an attention seeker rather than a musician. Again, that's fine but not my taste!

  • Led Zeppelin is best left in its own, special dimension that will never die.

  • "What? No she doesnt get to talk, she just gets to stand there and hold my grammys. MINE ALL MINE."

    -R. Plant

Besides that, Raising Sands is really just a fantastic album, their collaboration is really great, this is the first time in a while that the grammys are right about the album of the year

  • Plant didn't seem to mind the bj from her....

  • Allison Krauss isn't worthy to suck Robert Plant's cock, let alone sing beside him.

  • if thats so then why did she sing?

  • Because for some mysterious reason country singers make lots of money, for example Garth Brooks outsold the Beatles and all other bands in the US, until the Beatles Anthology was released.

  • And yet Robert Plant was quite happy with it all..."it's fantastic"... seemed to be fine with learning American music. Problem would seem to be in you.

  • This is like Bob Dylan's Gospel music, or any other case of a great musical artist producing crap for a brief era. Most artists are quite happy with what they produce, but the fans know it sucks, and that they are riding the reputation from their previous musical career. This project may be popular in the US, but worldwide it will never come close to approaching Zeppelin's sales. Plus with the Grammy winning song not written by Krauss at all, she seem very out of place.

  • It's not like anything else, to anyone other than you. You've created your own presentation, that has nothing to do with how the present artists, including Robert Plant, feel about this work. World wide? There's so much happening world-wide, present your hate to your fave LedZep site, I'm sure there are many. Music is what it is..... It's music...Robert seems fine with it, the grammy awards and accolades for the process, the loving for this music; problem seem to be in you.

  • I just noticed that I'm talking to a 60 year old hyper patriotic American, the kind that will defend any shit as long as its "American Music".

  • Much American Music came from other countries, including UK folk music....you should try listening to music. I have no need to "defend" anything, it all pretty much presented itself. Do you ever pay attention to anything in music other than today? Don't, that's fine, A lot of American folk music came from UK folk ballads; Plant and Page wrote "The Letter", it meant different back then. Do you read?

  • Fireemblem. You are so clueless it is almost hilarious!

And this is coming to you from a 40 something Dutch hater of all patriotism and especially the American variant!

    Lover of Americana music though!

    Go figure!

Surprisingly it seems ...you are full of it! Again...go figure!

But I see now I am talking to a bloke hung up at a band that stopped existing 5 years before he was born! ROFLMAO

Get with it doll! It's 2009!

  • Get this tool off guitar and put Page up there.

  • hope he got to tap allison's ass

  • Puberty.

  • Robert Plant is turning into a lion! I think no less of him though.

  • rock on

  • isn't it awsome that he loves what he is doing..

  • I forgive Robert for this just because Robert is God! I LOVE YOU ROBERT!!!

  • I think its awesome that paul mcartney was there living off of his work 40 years ago and mr. plant was there living the same dream stretching his world the same way he did when he was 18 squeezin his lemon till the juice ran down his leg. He is the greates musician of his era. hands down there is no one from his generation that has done what he has Plant is GOD

  • AND THEY DESERVE EACH AND EVERYONE THAT THEY WON! Way to go Roberto and Allison. I can't wait for round two. Rob/Boston

  • i diasgree with the "selling out" comment for a coupla reasons. 1. the album really isn't among the top played, advertised or hyped albums of the year and (2) although Alison Krause is really accomplished in her field, nat alot of "mainstream" music fans know who she is. I think the album caught fire solely on the strenth of the music these 2 amazing artists recorded (with T-Bone's talent fueling the engine).

  • I think the selling out comment was actually quite intuitive. There was a time when awards of nearly any sort were viewed with suspicion - that, in some way, the 'suits' had control of the helm. Whatever, Plant wasn't stating that belief now, merely displaying a little hubris from his past. At 63, I think he deserves a bit of indulgence.

  • Agreed. Just because an album receives a lot of hype and airplay doesn't mean it's great music. This, however, is great music, and that's what made it so hugely popular.

  • So Robert Plant is singing R&B. More power to him!

Have fun, life is too short.

  • Led Zeppelin.......the greatest band of all time..........Robert Plant is a legend

  • The seventies was my era - l listened to Led Zeppelin on the underground FM stations when the songs first came out.

I can understand Plant changing up a bit, but this collaboration with Krauss and country music is strange to me. He says "she taught me to sing in straight lines". Yeah but that's now a little ho hum - he could be any singer. What made Plant's voice unique? I wouldn't

spend a dime on this stuff.

  • lol, your loss, not ours

  • Always watch her closely and Nope, haven't noticed any arrogance! But then again, anybody who follows her career knows arrogance is not a word EVER used to describe her. :) First bit she is very much trying to see his face because she is trying to hear what he's saying but has trouble doing that, which you would know if you had seen the rest of it,

  • second time she recognises a mutual friend being there because she grabs Robert's arm and points that person out to him a few moments later, which you also could have known had you seen the whole bit and in the third bit when he mentioned T bone, she is looking for T bone to show up which is clear if you listened to what he was saying yourself! Plus the whole body language there is of someone listening! Cleraly she does erk you but that has nothing to do with anything she did there "Zeppelin"!

  • i have to say, i have loved zeppelin all my life...bought all the vinyl...spent an entire year listening to just them when i was in high school. that said, this is truly one of the best albums i have heard in years. close your eyes and pretend plant was never in zeppelin..u will see the true talent lies in the ability to change it up...

  • I feel exactly the same about Plant, Zeppelin and Raising Sand. Nicely said.

  • Spoken like a true Zep fan and someone who understands his music...well spoken

  • Ugh.. he's turned into Paul McCartney!

  • lol

  • I feel so sorry for you. You have obviously never met her or objectively listened to her music.

  • Bet that's just the limit of your knowledge of the English language! ;)

  • zeppelin is the best band of all time!

  • i am sure robert would get back to zeppelin if he felt they could reproduce the old zeppelin. but the simple fact is they could never do that. because u can never top zeppelin. they were simply the best band ever. when bonham died that was the end for zep live. i am happy for robert now. he seems to be enjoying this change. after all those amazing moment s he gave to us as zeppelin, who could ever blame him.

  • torreslavila,

I love Zep (a lot), I agree with you, and I also admire that Page said that anything that he, Jason Bonham and JPJ would create in the future (if anything) would never be called Led Zeppelin if Plant wasn't involved. That, and the disbandment after they lost Bonham is all class. I respect those choices a lot. I hate when band members are replaced without a name change (think Alice in Chains).

I'm glad to see Plant's having fun--I may try and explore this duo. I'm willing.

  • Robert is an incredible singer. Page was a marginal artist. And Jones was clearly holding his own. Out of respect for both his family, and incredible talent, I only mention Bonham. The point is what they did "together" changed music positively in ways only legends can manage. This is not a knock on Zep, but Plant moving strongly forward. Great album.

  • I have to disagree with your assessment of Jimmy Page. He was anything but "marginal". As a guitarist/bassist of 30 years, I know good, bad and marginal. Page was innovative, precise, and extremely creative. He mastered almost every major style and technique and created new ones. He is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest electric guitarists to date.

  • Brilliant, Please take my comment in the contaxt of the conversation. I know...feel. the Comtribution Jimmy Page made to our music. The conversation at the time of my comment had to do with remarks as to whether Robert Plant and the like. Should continue to grow and change their art. I do hold techical abilities aside, but can hear all of Jimmy's talents, on almost every song. every song.

  • Page marginal??

  • It's true. The real Led Zeppelin can never be recreated. However, like during the Page and Plant era, there was definite musical chemistry there. It was the next best thing to Zeppelin if you ask me. So, let's say he did join the others and Bonham Jr. (who can't drum anything like his dad) it would be the closest to the real Led Zeppelin. I'd take that. But I agree, I am happy for Robert as well and he should do what he is inspired by. If he's not inspired by Zeppelin then so be it.

  • Jason is not his father ... he is his father's son!

  • I didn't say he was his father. Reread it carefully and you'll know what I mean when I say "Bonham Jr."

  • FlavorRed: You said, "Bonham Jr. (who can't drum anything like his dad)". Were you not making a direct comparison between Jason and John? When I said "Jason is not his father; he is his father's son" my point was that they are two different people, they possess two different styles; yet it's as if people expect Jason to be, and are seemingly disappointed that Jason is not drumming clone of his father, and he is unfairly and incessantly criticized for it.

  • I get it now. I agree.

  • sure, they were inspired by folk and country music.

but they took what they liked out of those genres and created what we all know and love as a classic zeppelin sound.

  • Yes, That IS the definition of "inspired by"! And did it ever strike you that without that inspiration Led Zep might have been a band long forgotten? Might want to consider that before you put the genre down. And you might realize they are no more and will be no more. Why don't you try to be inspired by them instead of putting down anything not Led Zep.

  • this aint blues...this is some gay folk/country stuff

    and i agree coldplay sucks...

  • You mean like that gay folk/country stuff that used to be one of the inspirational genres of Led Zeppelin?

  • Lol, Zeppelin was so much better than Radiohead that it's beyond description...

  • you're kidding me right... I'm not even gonna start arguing with you, but I think Radiohead at least deserves a spotlight recognition for a masterful album.

  • hey alison leave robert for zepp, don't tarnish your name as Yoko did in the past when she broke the beatles

  • What a load of shit!. There is no way in the world ROBERT PLANT, ALISON KRAUSS should of won the record and album of the year. The Grammy's are such a farse. No offence to ROBERT PLANT, ALISON KRAUSS but you cannot compare thier music to Coldplay who should of swept through the awards.

  • Robert Plant is... SO much better than Coldplay. Coldplay is shit. Complete 100% shit.

  • "should of" what?

    Coldplay make borderline elevator-music, IMHO.

Bunch of drama-queens, whereas AK is the genuine article, IMHO; what she's done for years continually amazes me with its beauty.

    Relax and enjoy.

  • i'm not compareing them? I'd be better to see zeppelin than this

  • RP is god

  • am i the only one who wants to see zeppelin rock out again?

rip bonham, wish you could still be here, but damn,

now you got robert plant WHO LOOKS LIKE THE COWERDLY LION NOW! playing some bluegrass/country/folk song with alison krauss?!

    common!

  • don't compare this to led zeppelin. same person different band

  • Are you kidding me? If you were a true zep fan you'd know that they referenced a lot of genres and adapted it into their own style. Before Zep plant was a young blues artist, this is his kind of thing.

  • That's awesome that they won all those Grammies, but I thought they were going to do other things after this. I thought Alison was going to make more music with Union Station.

  • Robert Plant, has won 7 grammys. From a band who has sold over 400 million albums - not counting 9 solo CD's. Their last concert on 12/10/07 drew 200 mil people to their website to enter a lottery to get tickets and only 20 mil were succesful. MTV in 2002, offered his former band, Led Zeppelin ,100 million dollars for one CD and one tour. Who combined with the most popular blue grass star with over 20 grammys. And some people expect us to believe they dont know them? Sorry, Dont believe you!

  • ?! wtf

  • LOL! I 'd have thought I was clear? Then again..I'd have thought Plant was clear too.

  • fuckin people with their evolving,

i get it, its important for an artist to evolve and grow to create more.

but thats not what anyone is saying!

People wanna hear the greats, because theres nothing like raw Led Zeppelin

so stop trying get into a huge fuckin conversation on a youtube video about how great it is that hes "EVOLVING" !

    PEOPLE WANT ZEPPELIN,

    not this fuckin bullshit,

  • Well, you'd think after so many years you'd get it through your head! It don't matter what you want...You can't have it!!!

  • I agree that it's interesting that almost all of this comment is about Robert Plant. I heard him and Alison perform live in Golden Gate Park last fall (2008), and at that time, I only knew Alison, not Robert. So their work has turned me on to his accomplishments. I don't like Led Zepplin's work, but admire any artist who insists on evolving, as both Plant and Krauss continue to do. Thank heavens that they won't go to their graves just covering the same songs they did in their early 20s!

  • thank you for that comment. I wish my zep counterparts would get this! By the way listen to physical graffitti by zep and I think you will start to like them a lil better.

  • Thanks for your remark. Now that my curiosity has been piqued, I'll be exploring Robert Plant's other work. I appreciate his adventurousness and determination to keep growing. He's smart, witty, articulate and a committed artist. And he turned down a fortune to return to Led Zepplin - talk about not selling out! Incredible.

  • i mean 50% or 70% don't know who robert plant is in the grammy.....

his the guy the lead singer of led zeppelin

  • i be 50% or 70% don't who robert plant is in the grammy.....

  • Please listen to the album. Robert Plant's voice is truly incredible.

  • Only because you will be the Golden God,will we forgive you with this crap.

  • Doesn't Robert let her speak at all????

  • What makes you think she needs his permission? ;D

  • You answered your own question. It's because he CAN work with Alison Krauss...

  • "Leave Led Zeppelin to work with Alison Krauss"??? Too funny!

  • u dont get him! thats a shame. zep was about evolving, not rehashing the past. he isn't 20 anymore and times have changed. Percy will never be a sellout!

  • dlyric1975, dont talk shit.

  • best Part is the robert is in genes and white and leather jacket while everyone is in suite in ties and all dressed up!

  • How'd he go from being in Led Zepplin to singing this crap?

  • talk about narrow minded. I love folk music are you kidding me? Have you actually heard the whole album? I think they sound really great together. Allison get's to sing with the greats from Robert plant to doc Watson. This opinion is coming from a singer in a melodic thrash metal band lol. Peace dude, and have a good day.

  • I found it boring during the Grammys tbh.

  • and that's the thing. Alison gets to sing with? How about Robert Plant gets to sing with? Alison doesn't need much outside regard had a band since 19, I'm not a bluegrass fan, but I saw a great fiddler. heard a haunting voice.....she's done well, only the #1 female grammy artist of all time, Not a matter of your opinion, get your ears out of your ass, and listen to music. Folk music, Appalachian music, back-porch, scratchy, fiddle and guitar music. That's American music.....

  • Robert plant, the only reason to watch the grammys, the rest of it sucks bigtime! Just keep us happy with the classic Rock! Cold Play or is it Cold GAY? What a Joke!

  • Eh the singer of coldplay writes good vocal melodies. Some of the compositions are good 2. I don't really care that much about the Joe Satriani thing I like coldplay and I like Joe's playing somewhat. I just can't get into guitar virtuoso's who have such big ego's.

  • fuck you homophobe!

  • God save Robert Plant

  • I agree he needs to tour with the led again, but he sounds really good with Allison. You can still write good music and not have to sing crazy rock n roll. It's still well written music, not too simple but not too complex to the point where it get's up it's own ass.

  • i'm glad Robert Plant did well, but why the fuck did The Raconteurs not win Best Rock Album, and instead Coldplay, which is more pop than rock?

Oh yeah, that's because the Grammys only pick what has been most sold, or most listened to, because the majority of people probably don't know what rock n' roll truly is, you know like Zeppelin, The Stones, The Who, and of today's music, for example, The White Stripes or The Raconteurs.
