have a lot of her records, Sugar pie being an adept name for her, she just refuses to grow old and can still put it down with the best of them, a truly memorable artist
Check out her nails. I used to get my nails done at the same place in San Francisco she did. The shop is gone now, I have moved to the burbs. She would crack everybody up. She no longer has her voice, but she is still an entertainer.
Little Miss Sugar Pie.... the woman that puts the "blue" into rhythm & blues! @joeluis98 - the song that she is performing in this video is called "I Want To Know". It was her first hit record, from 1960.
Whew! She is a mess......that IS a compliment! Gotta love her! How could one not after seeing this performance. I got to up my stage game up after seeing this! I had never seen footage of her in the 60s until today, and I am glad I stumbled upon this clip.
Mrs. deSanto and Etta James sung in the same quire back at the early .50. Sugarpie sung like Etta, but nobody believed it to be possible to sing like she did . Etta sounds like she was a big, sturdy girl. Just look at this little nypmh, and in the old days she even sounds "BIGGER" than Etta..
@clamarama I think OctoMania1928 possibly meant that in a good way. In the African-American community "you're a mess" can mean "you are something else" like that's "bad" means that's "good" & newstyle she's "phat" doesn't mean "fat". Ya digg?

What an amazing, amazing lady.
If you got it, you got it, no matter what age, and Miss Desanto has it in abundance.
