It's interesting that Daniel keeps referring to the music and the ideas as "weird." There is nothing outlandish about harmonies and strings. If anything, it sounds like a return to the experimentation in rock that began in the late 60's. Throwing away the "rulebook," just making whatever sounded beautiful and interesting to you. And the result is absolutely stunning, in my opinion. Diorama is such a beautiful album. Major kudos to the band for following their creativity wherever it took them.
I know he has this energy about him that is kind of heaven-like. I havent been able to explain it for like 10 years lol. There going to be around for a long time I can feel it.
as tragic as parts of their story is, what a great story they have. I can't help but think they could have made it huge overseas w/Diorama, but b/c of unforseen circumstances, it wasn't meant to be. The result? A treasure of an album that only few know about. Makes it even more special I think.
paul did have a big part in the album. no problem with that. it wouldnt be the same without him. he isn't taking all of the credit but he did have a lot do with some songs.especially with tuna and across the night.
They were teenagers when they came out, needless to say none of you are the same people you were when you were teenagers. So why would Silverchair's music have to stay the same. Ppl can listen to music that is all fake bass lines, and repetative stupid lyrics, but they cant listen to an uplifting energetic song? You all need to open your minds a little bit. The music that Silverchair makes is more authentic, and genuine than music most artist are recording today.
OMG STOP HATING ON PAUL!! it was a change for the better anyway!! Paul has been making music with Silverchair since Neon Ballroom, and has done nothing but teach Daniel the trade of music. So if Paul was the down fall of Silverchair then why was Diorama such a masterpiece?
You can't completely blame Paul Mac for Silverchair's new direction in music. Paul doesn't control Daniel's mind. Daniel said himself that he started listening to more pop music and it began to influence the way he thought about Silverchair's music.
yeah i know he isnt completely to blame, but hes certainly pushing them in that direction. In the end its Daniel's decision, and i get that, but I still wish paul mac would back the fuck off. They have always been a power trio. Young Modern is a huge step down from Diorama...but honestely anything would be a step down from this masterpiece.
completely agree...i think hes steering them in the wrong direction. Diorama is just about the greatest cd ever but young modern went way too far towards pop, and I think paul mac is a big reason for it.
yep, i hope their next album, chris and ben have a little more input.
Yer diorama and neon ballroom, are they best creations ever made but them, i dont mind Young Modern, but it would be better if paul mac wasn't such a huge influence.
Plus his influencing daniel on like taking drugs and drinking, it dissapoints me.
Even Though i think daniels hillarouse when his drunk/stoned his stuffing up his voice and thats why he keeps getting sick and his voice is bad when he talk, but its still amazing when he sings!
The whole album is a masterpiece, but I would definitely have to agree. Tune in the Brine really is something else.
