  • LOL! Not "ol lean der", it's pronounced "ol le and er"!

  • I actually like to use my hands for my foundation, and to blend the edges of my eyeshadow. I feel like I have more control that way.

  • OMG! That's exactly how I do my make-up most of the time! :D

  • superb seariously

  • i couldn't to any better even with the best brushes in the world

  • bloody brilliant! wish i watched this before i went on holiday and lugged all my brushes! haha. hv a gd new year's girls! =D

  • Very nice. I will use my fingers more often. I prefer using my hands for foundation and I find that I get the best finish that way. I've never used my fingers for eyeshadow.. I'll try it. Your eyes looked so blue after you applied that green No.7 pencil!

  • Gorgeous! Looks so easy too!

  • you are beautiful!!

  • As a makeup artist myself I don't think this is good because I would hate to have someones fingers all over my face. And I have never forgot my brushes. Still not a hater ! X

  • whatever you do you are just perfect!

  • It's £6.49 at my local Superdrug. Still really cheap though!

  • are you british

  • Love love love love loooove this video!! I'm off to Superdrug lol

  • i love her red nails! it seems like it has glitters on it. so cool! but her other hand has black polish. such a fashionista! i know of a friend who makes her nails all a different color! it's glamour girls! love it!

  • What's with the black nail polish. Isn't that out yet??? How about red?? Or a pink tone to go with your skin. Women talk about natural make up and wear black nail polish. It's ridiculous

  • @70sRob umm her nail polish is red..

  • i've never had a brush my entire life and i'm 37... this is awesome!

  • Question: I have heard before that when applying makeup with your fingers you should only use your ring fingers since they are the weakest fingers and are less likely to damage the fragile tissue in the eye area. What do you guys think?? I trust your opinion! ~Thanks

  • it looks a lot simpler this way.. why use brushes? :P

  • "WORK LIKE YOU MEAN IT!"

  • :O ooh damn, this video scares me (only because you said it happens to makeup artist at least once in their career)...i really hope i dont leave my brushes XD hahaha

  • This is so great for those of us that can't afford a whole lot of brushes! Thanks so much!

  • woooww...this looks just like u would use ur make up brushes :)

  • We have Boots in the US now! But it's just a small section of a bigger store.

  • That was really brilliant. Love it!!!! And really gorgeous.

  • I do this for school every morning now. I hate having to clean and get out brushes. Thanks!

  • goes to show that the middle finger can be used in a positive way as well!!!! thank god for the middle finger :D

  • This used to be the only way I applied makeup until I discovered M.A.C. brushes. I still sometimes revert back to this method, especially with foundations as I find the heat from my hands sets the liquid so nicely.

  • NICE RING U GOT THERE!

  • Well, this just proves my theory. You applying makeup with your fingers is better than any makeup I've ever done with brushes... Really impressive, though.

  • I'm in love with this video, i always forget my brushes! So this is a lifesaver!

  • I used to only apply my makeup with my fingers because I felt like I got a much better color payoff from it, but since I've been watching your videos, I've started to use them again and even buy some :)

  • What about brows?

  • @E10Erica You use a brow pencil, just like she demonstrated.

  • I always wondered how to apply powder without a brush or sponge...thanks! This will be very helpful on my party nights haha. (:

  • this was good as well if you are just starting out with makeup, and you're still looking for the right brushes (like i am), thankyou so much !

    x

  • you ALWAYS get the best coverage with your fingers. NO MATTER WHAT.

  • wow!!! this is genius!

  • i saw the palette in superdrug and bought it because the colours were really vibrant and seemed pigmented. i got it home, the texture was so rich and good quality. i'm like you, i like "psh" about boots and superdrug, but i get some great stuff from the regular high street stores.

  • yay i have that palette :D

  • This look is so pretty, I always love all of your make up tutorials :) and the No7 pencils are about £7.50/£8 :)

  • anyone tested Garnier's new product line? there high-quality - i keep on buy more and more :) did you know u can find freely available samples of makeup through "GratismakeupSamples". i recently got the samples on 22/08/2010.

  • i love it!! i forget my brushes all the time lol!!

  • I know this is an old video, but if you forget your brushes isnt it very unhygienic to use your hands and what if your client objects to you using your hands?

  • @MissFashionDrama Then the client will never look as pretty as Sam does here :) I think it was rather hypothetical, but even if - if I see the artist washing her hands, I'd be totally fine with it, if i get a facial they're using their hands as well.

  • you are a prime example that you don't need the greatest makeup tools and priciest products to create a gorgeous look. its all skill.

  • Pah! Who needs brushes!! lol ;)

  • hey sam i have question..

when im putting my foundation i try not get on my eyebrows or eyelids and i see you do it all the time, so just wondering if it holds your eyebrow pencil better or something ?

i love you and your sister by the way, you're amazing :)

  • ehehehehe I am from Aussie land tooo!!!!!!!!! Great work

  • It looks SO SO pretty. :) Now I want to get this look for myself. Are these eyeshadows really easy to blend, though? Because I'm an amateur and I wonder if I'd be in over my head to try to blend these shades...

Has anyone tried the Dior Lip Glow on Latin skin? Does it look good then too?

  • i use my hands all the time. to do my eyeshadow even

  • I've found that if you're working with someone with an oiler lid, a great way to use a shadow that will last and not run is using eyeliner, doing a couple of lines accross your lids and blending with your fingers...that can also be used as a base for shadows.

  • Hi ! I have a question regarding the sleek eye-shadow palette: After watching this great video, I HAD to order the storm and classic palette. Received them today. WOW, amazing colours. BUT: I noticed that the eyeshadows have a rather pungent / synthetic smell. Did you notice this too ? I hope it it will vanish with time.. :-)

  • your basics tutorials are so useful!!! u look amazing in this one!! i envy your fingers control, i still can't do it without let the eyeshadow in my cheeks...

    thk's for the video!

And just to let you know, you have some fans in Brazil too! :)

  • love it!!! looks just as good if not better with ur fingers, i tend to put my blusher on with my fingers, just looks better i think, you can blend it more into the skin and get it exactly where you want it to go :D

LOVE YOUR VIDEOSS yours and Nic's!

  • Wow.

  • if you'ree alreaddyy taannnedd

would you still use bronzerr? xx

  • Personally, I get the best results applying foundation with my hands. Brushes are ok, but I think they make it look really cakey and cake face isnt cute

  • brilliant!

  • I don't think I've put eyeshadow on with my fingers since I was 12... I'm going to try it tomorrow! =P

Thanks again for another awesome video, Sam!

    xx

  • Wow thanks Youtube for the commericals before your videos ..?

  • wow loose powder with the hands, amazing, that makes me feel a lot more confident about forgetting my brushes :) thanks

  • nice ring

  • looks georgeous.. ;) i always only used my fingers till i bought my first mac brush a few days ago..now i am watching this... asking myself if i am on the woodway with brushes :D

  • brilliant!!!!

  • oops sorry you did use powder at the end sorry!

  • She has beautiful skin! i wish i could just put makeup on that fast without worrying about my skin! it's so clear! You are really good at makeup - i'm not bad myself but this looks great! Only thing is i have to use powder otherwise i'd feel naked!

  • your way too pretty

  • Far out. You are amazing seriously.

  • i loveeeeeeeeee this makeup look it is sooo pretty on you , you are the prettiest woman i have ever seen !!!!!!!!

i love your ring as welll

  • I love those Sleek palettes, they look so beautiful. Am waiting for the sleek site to get completely up and running to buy them. Not sure where else you can get them here in the US. Love this look, very pretty and looks fairly simple to do.

  • your skin looked beautiful here without any makeup in the beginning.

  • Sleek eye shadows hurt my eyes !!!

When i bought it i started to realize that not all, actually very few of the brands in Superdrugs don't hurt my eyes and one such so far is Bourjois.

My eyes are very sensitive maybe just because i've used such cheap brands ...

I don't know what they put in the eye shadows but there must be a reason for such good colors and such low price - i just cant wear them... ;((

  • wow very pretty!

  • wohoo love it!!

  • Hi Pixiwoo - you such amazing artists. I came across your blog and LOVE watching the tut's, so inspiring... I just wanted to ask, I'm new to foundation, never bothered using it when I was younger, now feel that I need more of an even coverage. You seem to always have such a flawless complexion, do you have any tips on how to choose the perfect foundation and concealer? Thanks, appreciate your time.

  • Gorgeous!! it just goes to show that you can get just the same result or better by applying with your hands if you don't or can't afford to splash out on brushes.

  • Yay No7 wish their products were used more. I found it so hard to get a good pay off with the eyeshadows when i was a consultant. The pencil was a limited product think it was about £8.50. They sold really good! The limited stuff does well! I watch these video's everyday! I miss make up :( Am doing my Level 2 hairdressing now. Will have to get a temping job to get my fix lol x

  • These videos are brilliant and your camera technique is lovely - really unpretencious and engaging.

    Thank you very much.

    x

  • Are those palettes available in the US? I checked the site but it's under construction. :(

  • It's just FAB!

I wonder, is it hygienic to apply w/ ur hands? u noe it's said that there r so many germs on ur hands-even though u wash em

  • there is germs in brushes too.. seems like germs are everywhere doesnt it now

  • wow you're beautiful!

  • i have that mascara!

    its awesome(Y)

  • ur are absolutely amazing. there is no other way to describe you. you are such an inspiration. u honestly HONESTLY are amazing. i have yet to find n e one on youtube with skills greater than yours. flawless. your passion truely shows.

i love what you do. keep posting.

    xoxo

  • @fashionboi89 ok :L i cant actually remember what i wrote cos it was so long ago :L but thanks anyway :)

  • I love your make up tutorials. They are brilliant. By the way, Boots Number 7 is sold in the US. I live in Las Vegas, NV and the makeup's sold at Target.

  • AMAZING!

  • :-O amazing

  • This was a great idea for a tutorial..and the result was absolutely fantastic.

  • i love your voice.. :D

  • Wow! That looks like you put on all that makeup with a good quality brush.

  • you look a lot like the model Helena Christensen....gorgeous makeup!..thanx for sharing...

  • You are so freaking talented :)

  • Have you tried Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizers? What do you think of them?

  • Genius! You and your sister are makeup wizards. Love what you're doing. Keep up the awesome work. Cheers!

  • now if you put your mascara on with your fingers i would have been really impressesd.lol.

  • I love, love , love your vids, but why does everyone(mostly from the U.S and U.K) only ever refer to the states when they're talking about certain things. There are other countries in the world. No one ever mentions Australia!!!!

Sorry just had to put it out there. Love ya!

  • We love Australia and Australians!

The reason we mention the US so frequently is because 50% of the people who watch our tutorials are from the states. Yes, More people from the US watch us than any other country...So we have to show them some love! Respect USA and AUSTRALIA!

  • @pixiwoo thats cos americans have no life.. ha

  • wow your really good

  • Thanks, people always say when you apply foundation or concealer, you have to use a sponge but the problem with that is, you have to wash them with shampoo (which is a pain) or throw them out after one use. It would really save me money if I just use my own clean hands.

  • i almost always make up with my fingers that because I don't really have many brushes and because I'm always in a hurry. of course when I have an important date or something I try to use the brushes!

however, you're great!! very nice tutotials, really clear =) thank you!!

I wonder if I can find those products in Italy too...

  • amazing!!

  • sam, have you ever noticed that you favor the right side of your face when applying foundation? but your skin is perfect on both sides so it doesnt really matter!

  • Oh Sam! I've been meaning to tell you 2 things

    - I've been applying my loose powder with my hands and I like it much better that way! :)

    - also I went to Norwich/Norfolk on a school trip when I was 12, pretty place :)

  • hm i always use my hands but i'm always pretty ashamed that i don't use brushes, except for foundation sometimes. it's nice to know that you don't NEED them :)

  • ME TOO..

I don't use brushes ...but that is because I live in Egypt an I can't get those brands

  • oh that's fair enough. can't you get MAC or anything? i live in australia, so i can't order from sephora unfortunately, but that would suck

  • Girls - You are great :)

That was really nice and easy - Thanks

  • thank god someone who loves using there hands im glad im not the only one who likes putting makeup with tools god gave you lol !!

  • i'm going to superdrug at the weekend!!

  • you are so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks this really helped me. =D i lost my brushes.. and this really really helped me.

    ps. you are crazy beautiful.

    im super jealous. =D

    haha

  • Very usefull video! I'm not very good at putting on my eyeshadows with brushes, so I think i'll follow your tutorial step by step till i'll know it by heart! Thanx a lot!

  • LOVE IT! I always wondered how to put color in the crease without brushes (I have some really crappy ones), THANKs!!!! :D

I love your videos btw :)

  • So brilliant... yet so simple :) Thank you

  • Sam- as usual, you look STUNNING! I always enjoy your vids and your sister's vids, as well. This was an lovely natural look and I have been on the hunt for a foundation. I love the look of the Laura Mercier that you used here and I am going to give it a go. I hope to find my perfect shade, (I NEVER can- I have VERY fair skin). I would love to find that SLEEK palette that you used. Perhaps I could find it on their website. Great job! I enjoy these videos a great deal!

  • amazing as always u have such great talent i love all your videos!!!!! 5 ********s

  • i want that ring lol hahaha and you and your sister have the best make up tutorials on youtube. keep it up girls.

  • you remind me of a young Kate O 'Mara '-Blimey!!

  • Oh wow I wish I could find an online seller/shopper that had that ring. It's gorgeous.

    Great video too as always!

  • Dior lip glow is on ebay already!!!

  • If I tried this it would look like a 3 year old finger painted on my face! :P

  • ok for all you people who are dissing my comment first of all i did not intend for it to be offensive okay i live in CANADA not the USA okay and yes i do like theese little clip thingys but i just think everyone is intitled to their own opinion and no im not pmsing okay? i just think that im an individual that is entitled to her own opinion just like you and any other person watching this okay? i think all these girls are pretty and they dont need to wear tht much makup sorry for being offensive

  • that's funny. I've forgotten my makeup brushes before and had to do a whole look with my hands, q-tips, and sponges. I thought I was the only forgetfull person to make such a mistake. I didn't like having to apply the makeup with what tools I had, but the bride loved it, so I guess it all worked out. Hopefully. I'll never make that mistake again.

  • This looks so gorgeous on you! Love your videos - you and your sister are an inspiration x

  • I confess I am so hoping to pick up the Sleek palette while in Ireland this coming week. That is one of the joys of overseas travels...finding new and fun products stocked at the local drugstores and markets...thanks for the info :) Peace!

  • Can anyone tell me a UK stockist for the Dior Lip Glow? I can't find it anywhere!

  • I dont think it is launched yet.

  • It's released in the UK next week (from 11 May). I found a Dior counter that was pre-selling it but they're now out of stock. Sam - you were right, this is going to sell out super fast!

  • Sam, did you see the Clarins new lipgloss. It works the same as this Dior Lip Glow. It is really pretty. Thanks for the idea about the Dior one, it was because of this one that I discovered the Clarins lipgloss in Selfridges.

  • I didnt see it. Thank you so much for the heads up. x

  • Just got sleek palette yesterday , Yayy!!

  • Thank you for this video. It's great to know that some of the most amazing make-up brushes we are born with! Love your guys' videos :)

  • That was great!

  • how is laura mercier silk creme foundation? is it better than matt lumiere chanel?

    Xcellent Vid Btw ;)

    X

  • great vid...thank you for the tips!!!

  • GREAT VIDEO!!

  • I'm pretty certain that Samantha is aware that "not everyone lives in England".... I think she's generous enough to share her tutorials and tips with us, it's hardly her fault/problem if the particular products she uses aren't available everywhere - not that we have to use the same exact products anyway..... just saying, b/c I don't really understand the point of your comment

  • well said mgparis. Samantha says over and over again that it's not even about the product, it's her technique-and taking the mystery out of this. She teaches for FREE what others charge LOT$ of money for. Bravo Samantha!

  • i agree!! musiclover9891 ur comment is ridiculous!! im in the UK and do u know how many american ladies mention walgreens, walmart, ulta , target and sephora in their vids - none of which we have? all of them and ive never seen anyone behave rudely toward them. so bugger off and stop being rude!!

  • Wow...What a sense of entitlement.

First of all we don't all live in Canada there are other countries besides the one in which you reside. Perhaps watching a Canadian MUA might be a good place for you to start. Otherwise, If you like the look get similar colours from other brands or try ebay.

  • Are you PMSing?

  • Nope, I just get so many stupid comments that on occasion the dam breaks.

  • I wasn`t refering to you, but the original post, I`m sorry.

  • No worries. :)

  • as per usual u do not dissapoint, excellent job, love it. beautiful look.

  • boots just recently came to the states. They're selling it at Target and CVS stores, I believe.

  • I saw it at Target the other day for sure.

  • You are not only charming, you are so educational! You take so much mystery out of make-up! YOU will always be the artist, but it is so kind of you to share this knowlege with us. Also thanks for explaining things a bit to us in the states. ..we speak the same language, but our lingo sometimes is different. Come to L.A.!!!!!!! I've turned 5 people on to your site!!! We love you here! xo

  • that was amazing,

  • i love the ring ..!!

  • Wow what a beautiful tutorial. I learned a lot. Thanks:)

  • im in love with ur ring!

  • u r gr8

  • great tut! i might go back to London in June so i'll have to pick up that Sleek palette. it's gorgeous!

  • How are you SO good at this!!!! I'm just watching video after video in sheer amazement and a twinge of jealousy :P

  • it looks awsome. i cant belive you didnt use any brushes. amazing job!

  • you look like amy lee from evanescence!!

    i love your ring too!!

    :D

  • I suggest if you forget your brushes:

To to the next drug store and buy some cheap ones ;) They will do for one job ;)

  • HELLO

  • that palette looks amazing! cant wait till they ship it! might look on ebay! you're eyes are amazing, the colour just POPS!

  • Love this look :) I ended up ordering the Sleek pallete online from ebay. Can't wait to get it!

  • I absolutely agree that being able to apply make-up with hands is a great skill. I actually started learning make-up application by just using my fingers. If you master this, using a brush is much easier.
