The break light casing to my car is broken (the red plastic around the light), not the light, how would I go replacing that?

If you don't have a friend you could try parking the car in font of a window or some reflective surface, and see if you can see the brake light in the reflection.

@pat1981lux If you car has a remote to unlock or lock the car. Then, just go behind it and press the lock button a few times or unlock and then lock, etc. Most of the time, the brake lights go on a for a second notifying you that you pressed the button(s) or if it's locked, etc. That's what I do to check.

this is what i do if you have no one to check your brake light get sumthing heavy a brick or a rock put it right on the break peddles thats how you can check it by urself

Not all bulbs twist to connect like that, but close enough. I always put dielectric grease on the connections to slow down any kind of corrosion that may take place. It's probably not absolutely necessary, but worth it to me.

Wait until it is dark and either use a mirror or back up to a wall or so and hit your brake lights; you will then see if they are working.

Of course, you could always ask someone else though; doesn't need to be a friend.
