When you build a theology around a bias, you build a reformed-style theology which says that tongues is ONLY languages. The fact that God spoke in languages through tongues at pentacost was a miracle of God. This still happens today on occasion where someone speaks in tongues and has no idea that a language is being spoken. Language is PART of the picture, not the WHOLE. Charismatics do the same when they build a theology around the baptism and tongues. It doesnt always happen this way.
I find it really humorous that anti-tongues people define tongues in a way that is virtually nonexistent in today's church, especially when the spontaneous experience of tongues HAPPENS SO CLEARLY AND SO OFTEN among Christians EXACTLY in the manner described in Acts. The Holy Spirit STILL encounters people and they speak in UNINTELLIGLE language to humans and ONLY understood by GOD.
So you are saying the body of Christ does not need people who study their bibles, correctly interpret God's Word and uphold truth? You before just said people NEED to speak in tongues and get special knowledge that others dont and you labeled people who do not speak in tongues as jelous, ignorant, idiots, and worse insults. Yet you act like I am arrogant and wrong when your entire attitude reeks of relf-righteous bitterness and hate.
@denoinwa Thats why you HAD to post on my wall and couldnt just leave the video comments. You are a joke and a satanic heretic. You need to start actually studying the bible and not just making things up about your own ideas and special demon messages you recieve.
@MaharlikaAWA I am saying you are an incorrigible drone who wouldnt know sound doctine from your eyeball. You are the angry child, full of bitterness, hate, malice, hypocrisy, pharasaical delusion, and every evil thing you accuse others of being. I DO NOT DEMONIZE PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY DONT SPEAK IN TONGUES. YOU DEMONIZE EVERYONE WHO DOES. Speaking of ranting, this is just another example of your stupidity and hypocrisy. LOOK AT YOURSELF MORON.
@MaharlikaAWA And no, you do NOT have a corner on rationality or logic, Mr. arrogant, hypocritical flea bag. You really think you are the only one with a Bible, don't you? And you think I am the gnostic? No, you are the enlightened one, full of special, heightened rationality, who has enthroned himself as the almighty demonizer. This is NOTHING BUT pharisaical delusion.
Paul says tongues is not relevant IN CHURCH GATHERINGS unless there is an interpretation. If you value context so much, then why do you go about minimizing "IN THE CHURCH" as his PRIMARY focus in this passage? Paul says just prior, "FOR ONE WHO SPEAKS IN A TONGUE DOES NOT SPEAK TO MAN BUT TO GOD." This flatly says that TONGUES ARE BETWEEN A PERSON AND GOD. PERIOD. Tongues is not for OTHER believers (IN THE CHURCH) he goes on to say.
The fact is, people who speak in tongues are often very insecure about the fact that they dont, and there is really nothing they can do to get tongues without a desire for the gift and without the help of the Holy Spirit. I commend this fellow for at least having the maturity to lay off the blasphemous accusations of tongues being of the devil. Good job mate!
Jesus said "ye must be born again" we must be born of "water" and "Spirit" How do we be born of Spirit? By recieving the gift of the Holy Spirit. The evidence you have recieved the gift of the Holy Spirit = speaking in tongues. Read the book "Tongues, beyond the upper room" it gives the true Biblical text from Greek scripture to better understand this gift of the Holy Spirit.
I was filled with the Holy Spirit when I was 15 years old. I was born and raised Catholic. Very few Catholics are Spirit filled because they do nto teach that in RCC. But even though I had never heard about tongues, I was still filled with th Spirit one day when I asked Jesus to come into my heart. . It was a beautiful and very real experience. If I am praying - now - 30 years later, I still can speak in the Spirit language that God gave me as a gift from the Holy Spirit. I encourage it.
People who speak in tongues are usually irrational crazy people who dont even want to study the bible enough to understand their beliefs are stupididly wrong. Charismatics are the worst.
@MaharlikaAWA People who demonize people who speak in tongues are sheltered, ignorant, and usually religionized beyond their intelligence. People of God with a brain acknowledge the case in scripture for tongues even if they disagree. People of God who do not speak in tongues who have a scintilla of wisdom and common sense let it go instead of stupidly stumbling around blaspheming the Holy Spirit and other Christians.
@denoinwa Wow that is one of the most heretical, self-righteous, arrogant, hateful and evil things ive heard from a charismatic. You are acting like a gnostic mystical wolf. satan owns you and lives to pleasure you with his tongues.
@MaharlikaAWA And one more thing. They will never take responsibility for their own stupidity, self righteous idiocy, hatred, or hyocrisy. They can demonize all day, but when faced with their own medicine, they are cowards. You have confirmed every thing I have said.
@denoinwa I love how you posted an angry rant on my wall then childishly blocked me from your wall. I responded to you on my wall. You are a joke and an evil self-righteous idolater.
i have been in a few pentecostal churchs for years i found no truth. one thing if you dont speak in tongues you are not godly. if you do speak in tongues well you are a very great person. wait anyone can speak tongues ba ba ba baby go pooppaa. it is all bullcrap too me and a waste of time. if you preach you better live and be holy. I am an example I am now a non believer and scared what death is like. think about how you live!!!!!!!!!! why go to a church that brings judgment to you
THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT SPEAKING IN TONGUES IS A VERY CONTROVERSIAL SUBJECT. IT ALWAYS HAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE. HOWEVER, IT DOESN'T NEGATE THE FACT ACCORDING THE BIBLICAL EXPERIENCE THAT IT'S REAL.
Let's just cut through the chaff. The gift of tongues, or diverse kinds of tongues is a gift according to I Corinthians chapters 12 and 14. Not every believer has that gift or the gift of tongues. HOWEVER, in the Book of Acts, tongues is not a gitf nor should it be considered the "gift of tongues." The Holy Ghost is the gift (Acts 2:4; Acts 10:44 - 48; Acts 19:1 - 7) and speaking in tongues according the the1st Century Pentecostal experience IS THE EVIDENCE.
Young brother, your view is quite thought out and is largely accurate. Google three online articles by Robert Zerhusen as he offers an evangelical alternative to the cessationist position that differs from the speaking miracle and hearing miracle theories. In the passage you deal with there is evidence that the speaker understands what he is saying. When I was a pentecostal I held firmly that the speaker did not understand his own speech.
I saw a great red dragon and his tail swept a third of the stars from the sky. Do you understand the language I speak? Can you interpret? Know this friend. The hardest thing to give up, is our past opinion. How much are you willing to give up to follow TRUTH rather than Falsehood. Remember that the Spirit, the God we serve is TRUTH-1 John 5:6. God is not some Dr.Feelgood, God is Father TRUTH and Jesus is Father TRUTH appearing in mortal flesh put to death but risen in immortal flesh, the Christ
God is pouring out his spirit as prophesied. Read 1 Corinthians 14:2 2. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for "no one" (that really means no one), understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries NKJV There are two types of speaking in tongues. Read about both in the scriptures.
speaking in tongues has nothing to do with learning something by the intellect. It is a gift of the Holy Ghost. It is NOT for the purpose of communicating the gospel, either. It is for the purpose of glorifying God. Look at the book of Acts. every instance, the ones who spoke in tongues, were those newly filled with the Holy Ghost. Not evangelists. Even Peter, on the day of Pentecost, did not preach in tongues. He used the language the crowd was using to discuss the tongues they were hearing.
@daffodyllady It is obvious that you have heard the correct interpretation of what tongues really is but by your own words, it is also obvious that you threw it away. You chose to defend your religion rather than the Word of God. Jesus is the Word, Father TRUTH in flesh. So you have rejected what Jesus says in favor of defending what man thinks. That was not wise. This young man is reading the Word but he has not read everything the Word has to say about this topic. Neither have you........
@EdOfTheNorth Please tell me what makes you think I haven't read everything the Word has to say on this topic? What makes you think that I threw it away? Why do you think I am defending what man thinks?
@daffodyllady When I was a child I acted like a child because I was driven by emotion rather than logic (or intelect as you call it) But when I became a man I put away my childish emotion and began to allow logic and reason to mold my behavior. Some just never grow up in spite of God telling us that He expects us to grow up into He who is TRUTH and LOVE united. Love starts with seeking the TRUTH, This is the first and greatest commandment. Loving others springs from this. No this = no love
@EdOfTheNorth I am gathering that you think that if we operate in love, then the gifts are not needed? Otherwise, I do not see how this links to the discussion.
@daffodyllady Read some other things besides Scripture to know the historical context. Example: Acts 2:8-8 'And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?' Luke gives a list of countries of where the diaspora Jews were born. How many languages are mentioned. NONE. Only countries. Scholars of ancient Semitic languages agree that these Jews only spoke EITHER Greek or Aramaic. Hebrew was the religious diglossia at that time. The 'other tongues' were Greek and Aramaic.
@fractalfires Again, WHY would Jews who spoke Greek be amazed at Jews from Crete speaking Greek? "Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians" In ALL these places the predominant language was GREEK.
When masses were held in LATIN, the religious diglossia, if a priest had done the mass in OTHER tongues, 'our OWN tongues', it would create SHOCK and confusion.
Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the only way to atone for your sins. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice because He lived a life without sin and died for you. He paid the price for our sins. It is a free gift of salvation that God offers to you. Will you accept it? I pray that you find truth in your life. Jesus is the only truth that anyone needs. God bless you as you seek after Him.

Anneliese Michel was being brainwashed and steered by the German BND which is the renamed GESTAPO. Check out my channel and homepage. The aim was to make religion appear dangerous or ridiculous. This year already 3 Bishops had been thrown out because of cases constructed by the German secret services. At this time they are after the fourth. Todays Germany is worse than any communist state ever was. There are also rumours that one Bishop was assassinated a few years ago.
dude,,your such a smart kid,,,,dont waste your time with religious nut bags.they will never get it.....let them speak tongues when the annunaki return hahaha,,,,they will laugh too

I don't like the way the Pentecostals have abused tongues either. But why in Mark 16 does Jesus say that, as a sign, we will speak in new languages? And why does Paul say, "I thank God that I PRAY in tongues more than all of you?"
@xander7ful This is a "tangible"-proof many non-believers need to accept healing... or believe in things of God. Many as you get even older you will learn more and have more experiences that will open your eyes. Tongues CAN be faked and counterfeited...Satan is loving this division among believers..--we're arguing over one of the strongest tools/prayer that God has given us. Satan is thinking this is great! (Tell them it's ALL bad.) What a field day for him!
@MsDezzyzRayz -I don't pledge allegiance to Pentecostalism but I do know that the Biblical Pentecostal experience that the Bible refers to as the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is happening in Pentecostal denominations predominantly OR non-denominational church body's who adhere to the doctrine of Christ AND the Apostles! I have 26 videos in respect to the borders of this doctrine.....
But I wouldn't group pentecostals....Grouping is dangerous I try to stay away from it & REPENT if I do it!
@MANUAIM Honestly I don't know where you get the Baptism of the Holy Spirit being the only way to heaven. Tongues is grossly misused in the churches today.Bible tells us that many will adhere to false doctrine. Who do you think those people are? You need to read the bible and discern what it is telling you about tongues. It is not being used correctly today. Pentecostals believe in tongues and that is what I am grouping together not the people but the doctrine.
@MsDezzyzRayz- I don't know where you see that I have teached the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the only way to heaven. That's first off....Nevertheless....Jesus said YOU must be born of water AND of the Spirit In John 3:3-5! Now where at in the Covenant given to the church was being born of the Spirit, ***EVER anything else other than The Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
How about you dare to tell me what the Bible is saying about Tongues since I need to discern what it is saying : )
@MANUAIM As I asserted to you in emails, that verse refers to Physical Birth (the word for Water there is only ever used to refer to a woman's water breaking) and when Christ has ever spoken about Baptism He has always referred to Water Baptism being the means to such. Whenever scripture refers to "Praying in the Spirit" it always refers to discerning through the Spirit what to pray for. It NEVER refers to tongues.
@TheFuzzyBard-Water Baptism is not the Baptism of the Holy Spirit! The Apostles were they water baptized before Acts(?) and if so how come they wasn't baptized by the Holy Spirit yet (?) Acts 1:5. What about in Acts 8:12-16 (read v.17), why had they already believed and was water baptized but was not born of the Holy Spirit yet? Or Acts 19:2-6(?), they already were baptized unto John's Baptism and then they were re-baptized and AFTER the laying on of hands they were born of the Holy Spirit.
@MsDezzyzRayz - I hear people try to explain away the use of tongues...THIS IS GROSS ERROR! 1Cor.12:28;1Cor.14:2; Jude 1:20 this is just a few.....
Now...
GOD ALMIGHTY prophesied that Tongues would be apart of the refreshing by which the weary would be caused to rest Isa.28:11-12 (referenced in 1Cor.14:21) & Christ prophesied Tongues for those that believe Mk.16:17 & in Acts 1:5 He promised them Holy Spirit Baptism & WHEN it came what happened? They spoke in Tongues! Acts 2:4...
@MsDezzyzRayz-You have a better chance GROUPING Pentecostals then to dare to attack the doctrine. The doctrine cannot be disproved AND the only people I know who reject the truth of this BIBLICAL DOCTRINE is people who have yet to be Born of the Holy Spirit. You guys argue against Jesus' doctrine, and the witness of the Apostles and other the others in the book of Acts who have received it. ON TOP of believers who are experiencing it today.....
@MsDezzyzRayz-People need to simply stop cutting corners. I would LOVE to hear what you or anyone else is saying what the use of tongues was for & in the Book of Acts when the Baptism of the Holy Spirit was given why did they speak in Tongues & Peter even said PROOF that they received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit WAS that they spoke in Tongues Acts 10:45-46 & each time in Acts except for Acts 8:12-17 either Acts 1:5 or Mt.3:11 was ref. before or after the Holy Spirit Baptism why?
@MsDezzyzRayz - Lastly my point is this....People loosely say what tongues was for YOU mentioned around it but I want to hear you EXPLAIN what you say it was for. Let's check your GLOBAL INTEGRITY OPENLY! Please type what the use of tongues was for....I have heard many excuses that were only proven to be error....
Please explain MsDezzyzRayz. maybe you'll say it was for the spreading of the Gospel to the other nationalities : ) try that one....
IF the gift of the Spirit of speaking in other tongues consists of being able to speak in a language you learned with your natural intellect, then unsaved people could have this gift! This would mean the gift of healings would mean you have to go to Med school... or for the gift of miracles, a person would have to... learn how to do it naturally somehow? Come on, where is the power of God in this? You reduce it to natural stuff that the natural mind can understand. Read I Cor 2:14
@ThePenguinification Of course. I was saying that... but I was also pointing out that the gift is supernatural, not a natural gift, as this young fellow is preaching.
@daffodyllady There are other 'gifts' of the Spirit mentioned that are not manifestly SUPERNATURAL. Prophecy, Interpretation and Discerning of spirits are examples, as prophecy is simply declaring the will of God. Verse 28 indicates that teachers and apostles are GIFTS, as well as 'helps' and 'governments'. Romans 12 gives more gifts of the Spirit including:prophecy, teaching, exhortation, ministry, giving, showing mercy. 1 Peter 4:9-10 speaking, ministering, hospitality
@ThePenguinification When the Bible mentions speaking with other tongues, it means LANGUAGES, not jibberish. Can you find one place where people spoke inspired jibberish? Jibberish is not a language.
If I speak Chinese without having learned it, how can I be edified by speaking it unless I know what I am saying? I can no more be edified by it than others present who know not the language either. Paul's point is that edification comes by understanding speech, not the speaking itself.
@daffodyllady go check out three online essays by Robert Zerhusen, one of which is called 'Tongues-A New Perspective'.
The phrase 'other tongues' is found ONCE and we must ask OTHER than what? Check Zerhusen, please.
'divers kinds of tongues' is mentioned once in 1 Cor 12. You overlook the religious diglossia at the time in your assumption and that language was a gift for what purpose? To edify the body of Christ. The lost do speak in languages, but they are not used by the Spirit to edify.
What is the purpose of tongues? To the Pentecostals it is supposedly a "sign of the Spirit" and prooves that someone has a Spirit. Prove that Biblically? Scripture says that tongues that are indecipherable are useless. In fact, speaking in tongues isn't a Christian thing. It is a Pagan thing related to the Ancient Religions in the world that Christianity fought against. Paul clearly says that tongues must be a decipherable language.
@TheFuzzyBard Not so. See my comment to Sacr3dEnigma. Also, signs are only for unbelievers, because believers do not need signs. If tongues are only a pagan thing, then why were they given as a gift of the Spirit? Actually, the pagan tongues are a counterfeit of God's true gift! How can a counterfeit exist, if the true article does not?
Paul, when writing to the Corinthians is trying to make a clear distinction between the tongues of other religions, and the tongues of Christians. The only event that we see in the New Testament that corresponds to this requirement is in Acts 2 where they speak in many different languages. Pentecostalism is terribly mistaken on what the sign of the Spirit is. In fact, the true sign of the Spirit are the Fruits of the Spirit - these show that someone has the Spirit, not tongues.
@daffodyllady Clearly states in 1 Corinthians that tongues do not exist. Even when they talk about speaking in tongues, they speak in their nation's language (tongue). God will heal someone if it's part of his will or not. He can use a doctor to do it. He provided them the gift of their profession. Did Jesus speak in tongues? Did he speak in a way no one could understand? No. He spoke in a way that everyone would be drawn near him. Show me in scripture where it says otherwise.
@Sacr3dEnigma It clearly states in 1 Cor 14:2, that if anyone speak in tongues, no man understands him. -So, it is not his nation's tongue. Verse 14 clearly states that if I pray in a tongue, my understanding is unfruitful (can't understand my own prayer!), even though my spirit is actually praying. Verses 16 & 17 states clearly that if I pray in church in tongues ("with the spirit:" see context) That I VERILY give thanks WELL!" -Even though others are not edified, because they can't understand.
@daffodyllady@daffodyllady You're clearly taking Scripture out of context. If you read further on it clearly states they are speaking in their TONGUES meaning languages.
Google John Mcarthur and listen to his Sermon about speaking in Tongues. Sorry, but I'm standing on my foundation. Simply don't agree with your doctrine beliefs
Listen to that. You've been deceived and in my mind brain washed into thinking wrong. Clearly God says this because Corinthians abused their gift and God took it away.
@ TruthInAnswers: Do you have a facebook to where i can add you? It would be awesome to have a deep conversation with another brother. (You are dead on with your interpretation and it shocks me someone actually understands, especially someone your age... No one else seems to get it) =]
Paul told the Corinthians that they were out of order. Yet he did not say that their tongues were not from God. The wrong use of a gift only means the person is an immature Christian.
There are a lot of teachings put out by people who have never experienced tongues, and therefore don't know what they are talking about. Like blind men trying to describe an elephant. Learn from those who know what they have experienced. Not from ignorant theologians.
Manuim, your replies to me indicate a lack of wisdom, and a legalistic approach to a religious devotion. Remember, the devil can quote scripture as well, and while I am not suggesting that you are of the devil, I do assert that you are interpreting scripture to fit your views, regardless of the meaning of the scripture. Jer. 10:1-5 does not speak of a Christmas tree, but an idol. A little historical research would give you better understanding. Try reading Romans 14.
Speaking in tongues is a secondary spiritual issue that will not keep the individual from eternal life no matter which side of the argument they choose to be on. I understand your viewpoint as well as the other one. You feel they are missing the truth & others feel you are missing the truth. Perhaps our efforts would be of better use reaching the lost with the primary issue; salvation. Their seems to be more & more lost as time goes on. Until we run out of unredeemed people to reach for Christ..
The Spirit also uses praying in the Spirit to prophesy. In our church there is tongues and interpretation. One man has the gift (small church) and the translation is alot the same. I asked God why, and He said, "Because that's what fills his heart."
Hey bro. I wanted to praise you for your wisdom and your studies. I have came to the SAME conclusion about a couple months ago. Good Job, once again! =]
@Hismessenger777-It is usually ppl who have not experienced the Baptism of the Holy Spirit that try to wiggle their way around this truth. Cutting corners.....
The Acts church knew that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit came with speaking in tongues. Paul even went as far to ask them HAVE THEY RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT since they believed in Acts 19:2! Is anyone listening.....Why would Paul ask them this if everyone receives the Holy Spirit Baptism the moment you believe? Seek Jesus....
@MANUAIM --Paul even asked them if they have received the Spirit since they believed?.....It is obviously important--- amazingly so-- id it's such a point of argument among Christians... Satan must KNOW it's power to cause such fights over it! And IT (Speaking in Tongues is a powerful way to pray__Beyond your selfishness...beyond what you know)
@Hismessenger777-The biblical conclusion is that when the Apostles received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit they spoke in tongues. Same for Cornelius & his household in Acts 10:44-46.....Same for the disciples in Acts 19:2-6....
Jesus and John the Baptist prophesied of this.....Mt.3:11/Acts 1:1-5/Lk.24:49-53
Don't cut corners....Jesus said the Father will give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Lk.11:1-13. Ppl need to be discipled into receiving the Holy Spirit Baptism. DON'T CUT CORNERS!
@MANUAIM The Holy Spirit is a gentleman....he won't bother you -if you don't want him... but as for me....It's gift of God...Jesus said it would occur and to tarry and wait for it...It was the first thing the disciples received to go out and preach with! Today- we can use it also. I use it commonly. It's a gift....The first one given. The firsts are usually very important and useful.
@Rainy64 - I suggest you go back and re-read my post to see if I am the one contrary to the FAITH in Acts!
I am in the defence that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit """***DOES COME***"""" with the evidence of speaking in tongues! I have 26 videos about the doctrine or doctrines surrounding it!
@MANUAIM I think I meant to address the video maker.... I also wanted to share: The most amazing thing I have ever seen is a Deaf woman who couldn't speak English or talk without "sounding" deaf...spoke in tongues- in Hungarian! She's never heard a language! There WAS an interpreter! She didn't sound Deaf!!!! Perfect accent! Praising God in Hungarian!
Now.....That is a blessing that you were able to see a woman who spoke in tongues in Hungarian and she was deaf & it was confirmed by an interpreter. Right at that moment the ppl there "the church" should have went up in praise & prayed that GOD unstop the death womans ears.....
Also let's study the parts to the ear & pray against any spirit that would stop new creation from taking place in her hearing & others IN i.e. THROUGH THE CHARACTER & AUTHORITY of Jesus Christ!
@MANUAIM I have witnessed DEAF ears opened too! As you can probably tell I'm around a lot of deaf people. The woman who was healed still needed a regular Sign language interpreter fro a few months because--she had to learn to identify where/who the sounds were coming form..was an amazing process to watch! Praise God...She is fully able to hear now! (With the deaf woman speaking Hungarian we were in a private home Bible study and I honestly think- we were a bit surprised to get the message
@Rainy64-Well, GOD always does AMAZING things like this...I believe HE is looking for us to HOPE this way all the time. 1 thing I despise & I think is IRONIC is that believers today will stress to another how we MUST obey what is written during the times when Jesus Christ walked the earth & even The Apostles BUT they try to sway us away for believing what the bible says in respect to signs & wonders. This makes no sense and it is a copout! Praise GOD you have seen HIS power in action!
@MANUAIM There was another deaf woman who was prayed over and she got her hearing back! (I was there!) Also, I had a Near death experience--I'm SURE this BOY has NO idea what he is talking about. (There shouldn't be "speaking in tongues" competitions in church... but it is NOT of Satan...Satan would like us to stop using it---it's incredibly powerful in spiritual warfare and in praying for healing and such! (The ones who need the most education& experience-think they are experts on youtube!
@MANUAIM We were surprised to get the deaf woman's message- and we were at a private home--- I don't think we thought about getting her healed from deafness. I DO have a friend who has been cured form deafness...(Had to have an interpreter for a few months- she had to learn where/who sounds were coming from!) God is amazing....
@Rainy64-Awesome...Yeah I think this is amazing. Check it out sometimes we are so happy that GOD is working that we forget there is more to destroy in satan's kingdom. So I can see how you were all rejoicing from the interpretation of tongues in Hungarian from a death woman that you all totally overlooked the other available fringe benefits of that moment.
This is amazing & I am hearing more & more from home meetings about the supernatural happening MAYBE bcuz the worship is NOT restricted!
@MANUAIM Jesus promised we'd do as he did and greater!....I think tongues is so basic... there have been healings as well in /among those "home" groups.I'm afraid this boy has No idea what the true Power of God can do! I hope he learns! Opens up a bit more....Acts is still being written today--- it's the only book not-"signed and closed(ended).
The bible states that "Speaking in Tongues" means that EVERYONE CAN UNDERSTAND the speaker. There is no need for an interpreter. Anybody who speaks so that nobody else can understand is possessed by a demon!
Acts 2: A crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. ...How is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? ...We hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!"
@tjhombs-You just blasphemed the Holy Spirit! I hate it when satan deceives unlearned ppl to mimick what he says so that he can bring them down to the sides of the pits of hell with him.
Go show me in the bible where it says that the unknown tongue is the sign of demonic possession! You guys are complete ignorants for saying these things!
GO read 1Cor.14:23 over again....study the words "unbeliever" and "unlearned" in the Greek.
@tjhombs-The word "heard" in that passage you mentioned means they UNDERSTOOD THEM in their own language. This does not mean they were speaking their own language. How can there be at least 15 different languages i.e. PRIVATE/SEPERATE/DISTINCT languages there & they all UNDERSTAND THEM IN THEIR OWN NATIVE TONGUE?
Many of you keep overlooking the fact that there was a common language amongst them thus they were able to communicate with one another! What tongue was Acts 2:14-39 preached in?
@tjhombs-We know that Peter is the ONLY 1 speaking in Acts 2:14-39 at least....Now you explain how they were able to UNDERSTAND PETER (at least 15 different dialects of ppl) Peter preached 1 sermon! Not 15.....explain!
Okay watch this, there is 1 speaker=Peter! though the 11 stood up with him there is NO INTERPRETATION OF ANYTHING! So either he was speaking a common language OR 1 tongue that covered EVERY SINGLE DIALECT present i.e. He speaks & they UNDERSTAND in their own langauge!
@MANUAIM The key is that these were Jews gathered out of every nation for the feast of pentecost; naturally they would understand their own mother tongue, and would know the tongue of the nation wherein they reside.
@lkevins1- Not many understand that in Jerusalem there was a common language spoken. You guys are defeated on all sides....EITHER Peter from Acts 2:14-42 spoke in 1 LANGUAGE that all nationalities could HEAR/UNDERSTAND in their native dialect AT ONCE (which proves this was not an earthly language) OR Peter stood up and spoke a common language for all of them to understand while he preached from Acts 2:14-42! IF the tongues was only to spread the gospel where is the INTERPRETER? Read Acts 19:2
@MANUAIM That common language was Hebrew, which was alive and well in Israel. ancient Jewish coins from the time of Yeshua bear out this important fact as well as the second Jewish war against Rome in 135 A.D. which had Hebrew inscriptions. So Peter was adressing the crowd in Hebrew, the others were commenting on the languages they heard the 120 of the upper room speak, which at this time made their way down to street level. In Pauls conversion story, we find Jesus spoke Hebrew.
@lkevins1-Okay so watch this rather the common language was Hebrew or Greek for them my point is that NO one earthly language covers all languages at once. So my point is that for the people from at least 15 *DIFFERENT dialects to HEAR which also translates as *UNDERSTAND <-----which is a VERY IMPORTANT fact to acknowledge...this means they UNDERSTOOD them in their own dialect! THIS DOES NOT MEAN they were speaking their own dialect but rather they HEARD THEM IN THEIR OWN DIALECT! See Pt.2
@lkevins1-My point is that the excuses ppl give today in hopes to wither away the truth about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (which comes with the evidence of speaking in tongues JUST LIKE IN THE BOOK OF ACTS) is that it was ONLY for the Apostles to spread the Gospel. My point is that they already had a common language where they were talking with each other i.e. those that spoke private languages (Acts 2:6-11) & Peter talking to them ALL in Acts 2:14-42. How many sermons from Acts 2:14-42?
@MANUAIM It is apparent that you lack the experience yourself. A good study of 1st Cor. Ch. 13 through 15. will perhaps shed some light of its function in the Church and to the individual believer. It was an old testament Prophet that said: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people, saying this is the rest where you may cause the weary to rest, yet for all this they will not hear saith the Lord. R U listening?
@lkevins1-I am not sure what you are talking about now....I do not lack the experience of receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit if that is what you are saying. Surely I do not....
You asked me am I listening? Listening to what? I know what is written in Isa.28:11-12 which Paul referenced in 1Cor.14:21. What is it that you believe I am missing because I don't see what it is that I am missing?
How about you use more than 500 characters to explain yourself. Do it in 2 or 3 parts!!
@tjhombs Where your mistake lies is in misunderstanding that there is more than one purpose for praying in the Spirit. One use is prophetic, and another use is private prayer to God. With the prophetic, the understanding comes in the interpretation, which is also by the Spirit. Nowhere in Scripture is it said that men understand the language of this gift of tongues, rather Paul says explicitly that "my mind is unfruitful", meaning, no one understands it.
Great job friend! Way to put the study time in. Far too often people rely on "feelings" or "experiences" rather than the actual Word of God. Keep up the good work bro. Didn't come across rude or angry but educated. Well done.
speaking in tongues is one of the spiritul gifts and understanding is another usually the person speaking in tongues understands what he says red ch 12 1stof corinthians god bless you kid i hope i really dig into the scrptures and pray for understanding
There is a tongue of men and angels; Paul also teaches that there is the prayer of the Spirit. He said: I will pray with the Spirit and will pray with the understanding also. He also said: I thank my God that I speak in tonques more than ye all; do you really think that he had to have an interpretation everytime he spoke? Praying in the Holy Ghost is for spiritual edification, read your bible folks and ask God for wisdom.
When christians speak in tongues MEANS being baptized by the holy spirit
Acts 2:4 (NIV)
4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. That is just one verse but you have the whole bible to study from!! (blasphemine to the holy spirit is an uforgivable sin)

What Paul really means when he says "tongues must be interpreted" is that the same way the holy spirit gives people the gift of speaking in tongues, the same way the holy spirit will give people the gift of interpreting tongues. I have been at prayer meetings where there is one man praying in tongues, and another guy on the other side of the church translating what he is saying into english so we can understand! So there you go, the whole church can still be edified.
But Listen to this, if you're in the right church, and you speak in tounges, nobody would want to understand what your saying. They are just happy that you are speaking in toungs
Intersting video , speaking in tongues is nothing more than exagerated baby talk.
Ka-gooo ba daaa lalalala ca ca ni ni lo lo la.......come on anyone with a basic understanding of communication can tell this is mindless babble. It's not any form of a language it's just making silly noises. Harmless enough but I find it embarrassing to watch grown adults behaving in such an imature way.
@MrMuffinman9 thanks for your question, I think what he is saying is if you speak in a tongue and no one understands that language you are just talking to God, or speaking in to the air (so it is pointless). It is supposed to be a message for the people so it must be interpreted.
Modern day tongues are FALSE Bgan Jan 01,1901 = Charles Fox Parham = pedophile, kkk, freemason. taught william seymore n Topeka, KS, zipcode bgins/w 666. 1st women to speak FALSE tongues = Agnes OZman n Topeka, KS, = WIZARD of OZ was made Topeka KS known for Tornadoes = mighty wind gone BAD False tongues spreading like wild tornado. No such thing as UNKNOWN tongues. Term "unknown" in italics(slanted font), PAUL nevr used it,added
14:2 he who speaks in tongues speaks not to man but to god because "noone" understands him.... if it was a language, it seems someone would understand.
paul says i wish you all speak in tongues (in context this is without interpretation) but i wish you prophecy more. basically. he says prophecy is better (which means tongues are good) unless tongues are interpreted. so basically hes saying: tongues edifies you=good. prophecy edifies all=better. tongues interpreted=prophecy=better.
later he says tongues=unfruitful understanding. the conclusion. do both. but id rather speak 5 words with understanding in the church. hes talking about uninterpreted tongues because its less important than words of understanding.
we learned that tongues interpreted=prophecy which is words of understanding. so the reason to speak in tongues is to edify yourself. if interpreted its to edify the body. in the same way marriage is good but to be single is better tongues is good but prophecy and words of understanding is better.

Tounges is the Gift of Language yes but not a crazy Jibberish speaking God is NOT the author of Confusion it is if i meet someone i cannot speak there language God will grant me that gift to share with them Gods truth
There are known tongues which is a different languages. There are unknown tongues that is between only the person and God. Not anyone can speak in tongues, it is an evidence of the Holy Ghost. It is a gift given to those that are saved and sanctified.
Throw that evil book away and go by instinct! Use your fucking instinct and you will become a god yourself! Trust me, that when i say that religion has hijacked our own instinct and repackaged it to rely and call it the holy spirit. Its not the holy spirit and you've been conned. stop thinking and tongues comes naturally by instinct. your addicted to outsourcing knowledge and information when it comes form instinct. lock yourself up in a room for months if you have to
IS CORINTHIANS 14 V26-28 iF ANY MAN SPEAK IN AN UNKOWN TONGUE, LET IT BE BY TWO, OR AT THE MOST BY THREE, AND THAT BY COURSE:AND LET ONE INTERPRET. bUT IF THERE BE NO INTERPRETER, LET HIM KEEP SILENCE IN THE CHURCH: AND LET HIM SPEAK TO HIMSELF, AND TO GOD.
The reason why you talk against speaking in tongues is because you never had the experience. I suggest for you to submit to the Lord and ask him to give you that experience. When u speak in tongues is to edify your spirit. so Shut up! By you saying this you are blasphemine and God doesnt forgive you for that! Repent!
that's the problem, if you just read it without studying what the author is saying. You get people doing ungodly things like speaking gibberish thinking it's some prayer langauge, gift of God.
@TruthInAnswers i can see how you get that BUT. the bible says if you do not have anyone to intrperte it than it will be ufruitful. and sometimes when speaking in tongus it is not ment for others to understand for it could be you talking DIRECTLY to god himself.
@TruthInAnswers Check out a book called "They Speak With Other Tongues". The author recorded people speaking gibberish, speaking obscure languages, and speaking in tongues. They had linguists listen to the tape, and they right away picked out the gibberish. When they heard the people speaking in tongues, they said they didn't understand it, but it definitely had the pattern of speech, and is a true spoken language. BTW, the author came at it as someone who didn't believe in it.
@chachixoxo1110...wow, what a "spirit" about you...you should read the WHOLE book of Ephesians. BTW, we are ALL called to study and interpret the Word, through the help of the Holy Spirit..you should do the same. 2Tim2:15
@TruthInAnswers So you DO speak in tongues? I think you condemn the odd people who do outrageous things and"show off" with So- called tongues. True tongues is gentle. It still exists. I have many many examples I give you. 100 people shouting in tongues is chaos. Speaking in tongues at home in prayer, quietly all day, can edify themselves and pray for things only the Spirit knows. SO do you speak in tongues? (I have SEEN tongues interpreted--2 separate almost word for word translations!)
@Chachixoxo1110..."shut up"??? Why would you speak to a fellow believer that way? Your behavior is "blashpemous"..you "repent"..and if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!
@chachixoxo1110 What you have said to this young man is blasphemy in itself. Who are you to say what God can and cannot forgive? First of all, this guy IS NOT blaspheming; he speaks the truth. Second, what would be the point of you telling him to repent when you just said a sentence before that he cannot be forgiven (do you understand that logic)?
@chachixoxo1110 And third, the only sin that God (written in scripture) will not forgive you for is grieving the Holy Spirit. That is, shutting out the voice of the Holy Spirit all together and to continue sinning.
@chachixoxo1110 Jesus said, "Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it may be forgiven him. Whoever speaks a word against the Holy Spirit, it shall never be forgiven him. He is guilty of an eternal sin." Remember what happened that Jesus said this? They were saying He was casting demons out by the power of satan. Wise up, people, and take your understanding of God out of the box! After all, He's not a tame lion!
@chachixoxo1110 your words shows that you are not a christian. even if you speak in tongues but your deeds does not much your christianity you are nothing.!
@chachixoxo1110 It's true you are going to great lengths to Blaspheme the Holy Spirit! 1Cor.14:10...and none of them is insignificant."(languages and tongues)....And Paul says.1Cor.14:18 "I thank God I speak in tongues more than ye all." AND when you are OLDER and WISER you may regret this video. We'll pray for you to see the true use of tongues and not preach against a stereotype you've witnessed.
You agree with Paul; so do I. Yet I speak in tongues. So the problem must lie in our interpretation of the passage. You use his words to disavow tongues; however, I see it as instructions to true believers to conduct themselves orderly when assembled for worship in the church.
Listen! If one has the option to speak in tongues in or out of the assembly, then it should be fair to say that one must have the ability to speak in tongues. That is true whether a foreigner is present or not.
One thing you said is true: tongues is for a sign to the unbeliever, and prophecy is for believers. [v. 23] To prophesy is to explain or expound, which only true believers can understand.
That is the problem today. Many profess to believe, but their understanding is nil b/c in reality they are unbelievers. So as an unbeliever obtain your sign (tongues) to become a believer, thereby, you may understand the Scriptures.
I couldn'tve said this better myself speaking in tongues is speaking in a earthly language not a secret heavenly language. it's childish, and scary and wards off unbelievers looking for god. It would unappeal to too many and cost one too many souls. and it is unbiblical. but speaking in tongues in the true way, is biblical good job. you know your scripture ;)
When Peter stepped out of the boat onto the water he didn't start sinking until he took his focus off of Jesus and focused on what was going on around him. Then the Bible says he BEGAN to sink. The adversary wants us to sink. May God bless you all. Praise be to Jesus.
Matt, 7:6 NIV. "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces." Tounges are revealed to whom GOD chooses to reveal them to. "A Kingdom divided against itself cannot stand." If the adversary can get us focused on these issues and not on Jesus, he has accomplished his mission. Thus, division of the churches. See next post.
How can babbling unintelligibly for hours on end, possibly be thought of as edifying to anyone? "Tongues" in the bible are REAL HUMAN LANGUAGES. I have yet to visit a church that claims to have this gift active where someone is really speaking another language, or even at the very LEAST have someone INTERPRET! Come on now, did the GIFT OF INTERPRETATION cease? or is it for today also? Or maybe, just maybe it isnt as COOL as "loosing your tongue" in the name of the Lord.
Obviously you have very limited experiences and knowledge; I have been around the world and experienced the infilling of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. The interpretation may come by the preacher or the speaker/another interprets. Per scripture sometimes the church is edified and at other times the speaker is edified. So when someone speaks, you won't understand all the time especially if it does not pertain to you. I am grateful it has been revealed to me.
Amen I've recieved the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidevce of speaking in tongues people need to read the book of ACTS where the the church first began.
Praise the Maker! Of the 20 or so videos I've watched tonight, Someone finally hit the mark! Kudos to you and your well researched/reasoned video. Keep up the great work, you have renewed my faith in reasoned Christianity and inspired hope that I'm not alone. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Make more videos :)
When it says "he who speaks in A TONGUE edifies himself" it is referring to the pagan tongue that is false and is not of God, he uses it in a singular tongue, when he says tongues hes referring to the gift. But Yeah i agree with you 100% i can't stand going into churches where people do that garbage. its horrible and not of God. God Bless.
Look closely at "But in the church" and you'll see he argues that speaking in tongues doesn't instruct others unless it is translated; considering the fact that he is thankfull, the context becomes clear: the person with this gift is strenghtened spiritually, yet he has this gift cannot strenghten the church unless it is interpreted (because the church can't understand his words, but his spirit can)
(There are other biblical arguments in the epistels, study with God :) )
When paul speaks of the "tongues of angels" he is using a literary form called hyperbole. Its an exaggeration. Think about it, angels are SPIRIT, we are FLESH. in order to speak you must have the capacity for speech, more specifically, vocal chords. The angels have no such apparatus, they are spirit and not bound by our limitations. Speaking in the "tongues of angels" is just a poor excuse for pentecostals to get away with unintelligible babbling claiming it is another language.

@denoinwa @ denoinwa

PERIOD. Tongues is not for OTHER believers (IN THE CHURCH) he goes on to say.
denoinwa 1 month ago

DSkeptic86 8 months ago

He used the language the crowd was using to discuss the tongues they were hearing.
daffodyllady 1 year ago
@daffodyllady It is obvious that you have heard the correct interpretation of what tongues really is but by your own words, it is also obvious that you threw it away. You chose to defend your religion rather than the Word of God. Jesus is the Word, Father TRUTH in flesh. So you have rejected what Jesus says in favor of defending what man thinks. That was not wise. This young man is reading the Word but he has not read everything the Word has to say about this topic. Neither have you........
EdOfTheNorth 1 year ago
@EdOfTheNorth Please tell me what makes you think I haven't read everything the Word has to say on this topic? What makes you think that I threw it away? Why do you think I am defending what man thinks?
daffodyllady 1 year ago
@daffodyllady When I was a child I acted like a child because I was driven by emotion rather than logic (or intelect as you call it) But when I became a man I put away my childish emotion and began to allow logic and reason to mold my behavior. Some just never grow up in spite of God telling us that He expects us to grow up into He who is TRUTH and LOVE united. Love starts with seeking the TRUTH, This is the first and greatest commandment. Loving others springs from this. No this = no love
EdOfTheNorth 1 year ago
@EdOfTheNorth I am gathering that you think that if we operate in love, then the gifts are not needed? Otherwise, I do not see how this links to the discussion.
daffodyllady 11 months ago
@daffodyllady Operating in love IS using the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Duh!
You have this 'natural vs. supernatural' bent.
It is hard to convince with reason those who reject reason.
You know why Mormons are so hard to convince? Not DEMONS. It is because it is hard to reason with someone who has an experience. Same with Pcostals.
fractalfires 11 months ago
@daffodyllady Read some other things besides Scripture to know the historical context. Example: Acts 2:8-8 'And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?' Luke gives a list of countries of where the diaspora Jews were born. How many languages are mentioned. NONE. Only countries. Scholars of ancient Semitic languages agree that these Jews only spoke EITHER Greek or Aramaic. Hebrew was the religious diglossia at that time. The 'other tongues' were Greek and Aramaic.
fractalfires 11 months ago

I don't like the way the Pentecostals have abused tongues either. But why in Mark 16 does Jesus say that, as a sign, we will speak in new languages? And why does Paul say, "I thank God that I PRAY in tongues more than all of you?"
xander7ful 1 year ago

MANUAIM 1 year ago
@MANUAIM Honestly I don't know where you get the Baptism of the Holy Spirit being the only way to heaven. Tongues is grossly misused in the churches today.Bible tells us that many will adhere to false doctrine. Who do you think those people are? You need to read the bible and discern what it is telling you about tongues. It is not being used correctly today. Pentecostals believe in tongues and that is what I am grouping together not the people but the doctrine.
MsDezzyzRayz 1 year ago
@MsDezzyzRayz- I don't know where you see that I have teached the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the only way to heaven. That's first off....Nevertheless....Jesus said YOU must be born of water AND of the Spirit In John 3:3-5! Now where at in the Covenant given to the church was being born of the Spirit, ***EVER anything else other than The Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
How about you dare to tell me what the Bible is saying about Tongues since I need to discern what it is saying : )
MANUAIM 1 year ago
@MANUAIM As I asserted to you in emails, that verse refers to Physical Birth (the word for Water there is only ever used to refer to a woman's water breaking) and when Christ has ever spoken about Baptism He has always referred to Water Baptism being the means to such. Whenever scripture refers to "Praying in the Spirit" it always refers to discerning through the Spirit what to pray for. It NEVER refers to tongues.

@MANUAIM As such, being "Born Again" refers to being born in the Spirit through Baptism.
TheFuzzyBard 9 months ago

Acts 2:4...
MANUAIM 1 year ago
@MsDezzyzRayz-You have a better chance GROUPING Pentecostals then to dare to attack the doctrine. The doctrine cannot be disproved AND the only people I know who reject the truth of this BIBLICAL DOCTRINE is people who have yet to be Born of the Holy Spirit. You guys argue against Jesus' doctrine, and the witness of the Apostles and other the others in the book of Acts who have received it. ON TOP of believers who are experiencing it today.....
You have no bible verses at all to refute it!
MANUAIM 1 year ago

Read I Cor 2:14
daffodyllady 1 year ago 5
@daffodyllady when you speak in tongues, you speak in a language that you don't know! unless God has given you the gift of interpretation of tongues!
ThePenguinification 1 year ago
@ThePenguinification Of course. I was saying that... but I was also pointing out that the gift is supernatural, not a natural gift, as this young fellow is preaching.
daffodyllady 11 months ago
@daffodyllady There are other 'gifts' of the Spirit mentioned that are not manifestly SUPERNATURAL. Prophecy, Interpretation and Discerning of spirits are examples, as prophecy is simply declaring the will of God. Verse 28 indicates that teachers and apostles are GIFTS, as well as 'helps' and 'governments'. Romans 12 gives more gifts of the Spirit including:prophecy, teaching, exhortation, ministry, giving, showing mercy. 1 Peter 4:9-10 speaking, ministering, hospitality
fractalfires 11 months ago
@ThePenguinification When the Bible mentions speaking with other tongues, it means LANGUAGES, not jibberish. Can you find one place where people spoke inspired jibberish? Jibberish is not a language.
If I speak Chinese without having learned it, how can I be edified by speaking it unless I know what I am saying? I can no more be edified by it than others present who know not the language either. Paul's point is that edification comes by understanding speech, not the speaking itself.
fractalfires 11 months ago
@daffodyllady go check out three online essays by Robert Zerhusen, one of which is called 'Tongues-A New Perspective'.
The phrase 'other tongues' is found ONCE and we must ask OTHER than what? Check Zerhusen, please.
'divers kinds of tongues' is mentioned once in 1 Cor 12. You overlook the religious diglossia at the time in your assumption and that language was a gift for what purpose? To edify the body of Christ. The lost do speak in languages, but they are not used by the Spirit to edify.
fractalfires 11 months ago
@daffodyllady
TheFuzzyBard 11 months ago
@TheFuzzyBard Not so. See my comment to Sacr3dEnigma. Also, signs are only for unbelievers, because believers do not need signs. If tongues are only a pagan thing, then why were they given as a gift of the Spirit? Actually, the pagan tongues are a counterfeit of God's true gift! How can a counterfeit exist, if the true article does not?
daffodyllady 9 months ago
@daffodyllady
TheFuzzyBard 11 months ago
@daffodyllady Clearly states in 1 Corinthians that tongues do not exist. Even when they talk about speaking in tongues, they speak in their nation's language (tongue). God will heal someone if it's part of his will or not. He can use a doctor to do it. He provided them the gift of their profession. Did Jesus speak in tongues? Did he speak in a way no one could understand? No. He spoke in a way that everyone would be drawn near him. Show me in scripture where it says otherwise.
Sacr3dEnigma 9 months ago
@Sacr3dEnigma It clearly states in 1 Cor 14:2, that if anyone speak in tongues, no man understands him. -So, it is not his nation's tongue. Verse 14 clearly states that if I pray in a tongue, my understanding is unfruitful (can't understand my own prayer!), even though my spirit is actually praying. Verses 16 & 17 states clearly that if I pray in church in tongues ("with the spirit:" see context) That I VERILY give thanks WELL!" -Even though others are not edified, because they can't understand.
daffodyllady 9 months ago
@daffodyllady @daffodyllady You're clearly taking Scripture out of context.
Sacr3dEnigma 9 months ago
@ TruthInAnswers: Do you have a facebook to where i can add you? It would be awesome to have a deep conversation with another brother. (You are dead on with your interpretation and it shocks me someone actually understands, especially someone your age... No one else seems to get it) =]
Hismessenger777 1 year ago
Paul told the Corinthians that they were out of order. Yet he did not say that their tongues were not from God. The wrong use of a gift only means the person is an immature Christian.
There are a lot of teachings put out by people who have never experienced tongues, and therefore don't know what they are talking about. Like blind men trying to describe an elephant. Learn from those who know what they have experienced. Not from ignorant theologians.
daffodyllady 1 year ago

Rainy64 1 year ago
@Rainy64-Well, GOD always does AMAZING things like this...I believe HE is looking for us to HOPE this way all the time. 1 thing I despise & I think is IRONIC is that believers today will stress to another how we MUST obey what is written during the times when Jesus Christ walked the earth & even The Apostles BUT they try to sway us away for believing what the bible says in respect to signs & wonders. This makes no sense and it is a copout! Praise GOD you have seen HIS power in action!
MANUAIM 1 year ago
@MANUAIM There was another deaf woman who was prayed over and she got her hearing back! (I was there!) Also, I had a Near death experience--I'm SURE this BOY has NO idea what he is talking about. (There shouldn't be "speaking in tongues" competitions in church... but it is NOT of Satan...Satan would like us to stop using it---it's incredibly powerful in spiritual warfare and in praying for healing and such! (The ones who need the most education& experience-think they are experts on youtube!
Rainy64 1 year ago
@MANUAIM We were surprised to get the deaf woman's message- and we were at a private home--- I don't think we thought about getting her healed from deafness. Rainy64 1 year ago

The bible states that "Speaking in Tongues" means that EVERYONE CAN UNDERSTAND the speaker. There is no need for an interpreter. Anybody who speaks so that nobody else can understand is possessed by a demon!
Acts 2: A crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. ...How is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? ...We hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!"
tjhombs 1 year ago
@tjhombs-You just blasphemed the Holy Spirit! I hate it when satan deceives unlearned ppl to mimick what he says so that he can bring them down to the sides of the pits of hell with him.
Go show me in the bible where it says that the unknown tongue is the sign of demonic possession! You guys are complete ignorants for saying these things!
GO read 1Cor.14:23 over again....study the words "unbeliever" and "unlearned" in the Greek.
MANUAIM 1 year ago
@tjhombs-The word "heard" in that passage you mentioned means they UNDERSTOOD THEM in their own language. This does not mean they were speaking their own language. How can there be at least 15 different languages i.e. PRIVATE/SEPERATE/DISTINCT languages there & they all UNDERSTAND THEM IN THEIR OWN NATIVE TONGUE?
Many of you keep overlooking the fact that there was a common language amongst them thus they were able to communicate with one another! What tongue was Acts 2:14-39 preached in?
MANUAIM 1 year ago
MANUAIM 1 year ago
@MANUAIM The key is that these were Jews gathered out of every nation for the feast of pentecost; naturally they would understand their own mother tongue, and would know the tongue of the nation wherein they reside.
lkevins1 1 year ago
@lkevins1- Not many understand that in Jerusalem there was a common language spoken. You guys are defeated on all sides....EITHER Peter from Acts 2:14-42 spoke in 1 LANGUAGE that all nationalities could HEAR/UNDERSTAND in their native dialect AT ONCE (which proves this was not an earthly language) OR Peter stood up and spoke a common language for all of them to understand while he preached from Acts 2:14-42! IF the tongues was only to spread the gospel where is the INTERPRETER? Read Acts 19:2
MANUAIM 1 year ago
@MANUAIM That common language was Hebrew, which was alive and well in Israel. ancient Jewish coins from the time of Yeshua bear out this important fact as well as the second Jewish war against Rome in 135 A.D. which had Hebrew inscriptions. So Peter was adressing the crowd in Hebrew, the others were commenting on the languages they heard the 120 of the upper room speak, which at this time made their way down to street level. In Pauls conversion story, we find Jesus spoke Hebrew.
lkevins1 1 year ago
@lkevins1-Okay so watch this rather the common language was Hebrew or Greek for them my point is that NO one earthly language covers all languages at once. So my point is that for the people from at least 15 *DIFFERENT dialects to HEAR which also translates as *UNDERSTAND <-----which is a VERY IMPORTANT fact to acknowledge...this means they UNDERSTOOD them in their own dialect! THIS DOES NOT MEAN they were speaking their own dialect but rather they HEARD THEM IN THEIR OWN DIALECT! See Pt.2
MANUAIM 1 year ago
@lkevins1-My point is that the excuses ppl give today in hopes to wither away the truth about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (which comes with the evidence of speaking in tongues JUST LIKE IN THE BOOK OF ACTS) is that it was ONLY for the Apostles to spread the Gospel. My point is that they already had a common language where they were talking with each other i.e. those that spoke private languages (Acts 2:6-11) & Peter talking to them ALL in Acts 2:14-42. How many sermons from Acts 2:14-42?
MANUAIM 1 year ago
@MANUAIM It is apparent that you lack the experience yourself. A good study of 1st Cor. Ch. 13 through 15. will perhaps shed some light of its function in the Church and to the individual believer. It was an old testament Prophet that said: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people, saying this is the rest where you may cause the weary to rest, yet for all this they will not hear saith the Lord. R U listening?
lkevins1 1 year ago
@lkevins1-I am not sure what you are talking about now....I do not lack the experience of receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit if that is what you are saying. Surely I do not....
You asked me am I listening? Listening to what? I know what is written in Isa.28:11-12 which Paul referenced in 1Cor.14:21. What is it that you believe I am missing because I don't see what it is that I am missing?
How about you use more than 500 characters to explain yourself. Do it in 2 or 3 parts!!
MANUAIM 1 year ago
@tjhombs Where your mistake lies is in misunderstanding that there is more than one purpose for praying in the Spirit. One use is prophetic, and another use is private prayer to God. With the prophetic, the understanding comes in the interpretation, which is also by the Spirit. Nowhere in Scripture is it said that men understand the language of this gift of tongues, rather Paul says explicitly that "my mind is unfruitful", meaning, no one understands it.
777Levin 1 year ago

There is a tongue of men and angels; Paul also teaches that there is the prayer of the Spirit. He said: I will pray with the Spirit and will pray with the understanding also. Praying in the Holy Ghost is for spiritual edification, read your bible folks and ask God for wisdom.

What Paul really means when he says "tongues must be interpreted" is that the same way the holy spirit gives people the gift of speaking in tongues, the same way the holy spirit will give people the gift of interpreting tongues. I have been at prayer meetings where there is one man praying in tongues, and another guy on the other side of the church translating what he is saying into english so we can understand! that's NOT what the bible says.

@Chachixoxo1110..."shut up"??? Why would you speak to a fellow believer that way? Your behavior is "blashpemous"..you "repent"..and if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!
SilverBugLuvsTruth 1 year ago
@chachixoxo1110 What you have said to this young man is blasphemy in itself. Who are you to say what God can and cannot forgive? First of all, this guy IS NOT blaspheming; he speaks the truth. Second, what would be the point of you telling him to repent when you just said a sentence before that he cannot be forgiven (do you understand that logic)?

@chachixoxo1110 And third, the only sin that God (written in scripture) will not forgive you for is grieving the Holy Spirit. That is, shutting out the voice of the Holy Spirit all together and to continue sinning.

@chachixoxo1110 I would love to discuss y you believe tounge speaking still occurs please pm about this matter.

Genuine, open-minded, this young man has searched his scriptures well and is a gifted orator. Bless you, man!

God Bless.

Corrections: ..., yet this gift cannot strenghten the church unless it is interpreted
& There are other verses in the epistel [1 Corinthians] supporting my standpoints; walk with God
psaiar 2 years ago
Look closely at "But in the church" and you'll see he argues that speaking in tongues doesn't instruct others unless it is translated; considering the fact that he is thankfull, the context becomes clear: the person with this gift is strenghtened spiritually, yet he has this gift cannot strenghten the church unless it is interpreted (because the church can't understand his words, but his spirit can)
(There are other biblical arguments in the epistels, study with God :) )

My standpoints:
(1)there are languages of men & of angels
(2)speaking in tongues in the church should be done with someone who can interpret them in order to edify the brothers & sisters in Christ
(3)speaking in tongues edifies oneself
Arguments:
(1)1 Corinthians 13:1 "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels [...]" you missed it between 12&14
(2&3)1 Corinthians 14:18-19 "I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. But in the church I would rather speak [...]"{follows}
